The vaccine provides more the a feeling of comfort, it provides significant protection. Yes, it is not perfect, but you have a much better chance of a better outcome if vaccinated then not.
Correct. They have done exactly what they are designed/planned to do. Would they have liked for them to kill transmission? Sure…but they were designed to defend the “fort”…which is your body.

The problem is people talk first/most and study not nearly enough…so they claim outrage when not given something that never was promised.

They all thought they could go to church on Easter 2020 and then swing by a Roman style orgy on their way to magic kingdom to ride space mountain and watch the electrical parade.

I mean…why wouldn’t they? Priorities.

Looks like masks aren’t long to return in NYC and maybe Chicago. Hope WDW doesn’t consider it of things go bad in Florida

Is Disney at full capacity? I read an article from March that they said they likely won't ever go back to "bursting at the seams" crowds with the reservation system.

It seems common now for park reservations to fill up at times of the year when they didn't before. Any given day has at least one or two parks unavailable even weeks out. Do they have a set number they allow in no matter what or do they expand for special events (i.e., more capacity for cosmic rewind opening to make more money)

And yet NYC lifted some requirements for toddlers.

And Chicago isn't doing it either. Still optional.

Either way you need to quit comparing to completely irrelevant locations.

It’s relevant because whatever is driving these new cases (ba2?) will come to Florida soon. Things will increase there. I’m wondering what if any, precious WDW will take when that happens

It is irrelevant because you are picking places that did not mask under the same conditions. Honestly the worry you have is really a lot. You'll likely never be reassured either I expect. But both places are not reinstating at this time. Your pessimism assumes they will imminently which may or may not happen. Even if it does it has zero bearing on WDW

And there are way more omicron variants than just the 2 going around.

WDW’s definition of “at full capacity” has always been what they say it is.

Todays definition is different than what it was before the park pass reservation system existed.

Before the park pass reservation system, you could count on one hand the number of days a WDW park was closed to capacity and that was mostly just the Magic Kingdom.

I think about this a lot since the park pass reservation system was put in place.

This can’t be about safety or the guest experience. Disney NEVER wants to leave money on the table by turning away guests.

It’s got to be about saving staffing costs if they are willing to turn away paying guests.

On a related note -

After RCID is gone, will we see the Osceola Fire Marshal walking down Main Street counting heads such that they can issue a daily fine for too many people in an area being a fire hazard? 😀

Comparing places like NYC and Chicago to Florida in regards to precautions is rather useless. All three places approached covid differently than the other (for better or worse), so what one state or city does is not going to impact another. Would I be annoyed if stricter precautions came back to WDW and to other places? Yes. Am I still going to go to said places? Also yes. It is what it is at this point.

@Parker in NYC did you end up making your March trip to Disney? How’d it go? I hope smooth!
Late response, but it was so, so wonderful. It was great to be back at the Grand Flo and walk to MK for the first time! I only felt a little unsafe a few times, but I’m sure you’d ALL be surprised how little I opted to wear a mask. Of course you know that when I got home, it practically became a COVID test site. Didn’t catch it!

Heading back next month for Guardians. Can’t wait.

I'm drawn to forums to read and many read like a novel with a story from beginning to end.
You brought this baby to life and it seems to have come full circle now.
I've met many from forums, partied and even attended a wedding of a couple, it is always a satisfying story. Thanks

Thanks, Joe. It’s been quite the ride. I can’t believe the thread is still going strong! However… I might as well change the thread title to Florida and Walt Disney World now. I have bigger fish to fry. ;)

Glad you had a safe trip. Hope the Covid things tamp down before I head back the first of July.

We returned yesterday from an 8 day WDW trip. My sister tested positive this morning. She tests regularly for her job, so she knows she got covid at WDW.
Firstly, my prayers your sister gets well soon!

We all must understand there is no magic in WDW to keep folks from getting sick in WDW.

It’s almost a rite of passage when someone gets some good ol’ WDW food poisoning or the WDW staph infection (I got the staph, no more shorts at WDW for me)

COVID aside, all we can do is try to be self aware; hand washing, try not to touch stuff, try not to touch our face, use hand sanitizer etc. when at the parks.

We all know the risk of going in public and traveling increases that risk. She tested halfway through our week for her job and was negative. That is how we know she got it at WDW. She is an Infectious Diseases RN, so we have been doing all those things for years, already.

She hasn't been able to take a vacation for over 2 years. If you understand what infectious diseases are, you know why.

My point in sharing was to let people know that they can still catch covid while at WDW.

Hopefully it'll be as mild as mine and my wife's from a week ago, sniffles and sore throat and on with life. Our first go-round in 2020 wasn't analogous.
