I get what you are saying about if it was more aimed at kids then adults. But it is a pet peeve of mine when news channels focus on just tge kids being killed. It happens with any story with deaths. Just like tge war.” A building was bombed today and 15 people dies, 2 of them children”. Or something along those lines. I think it just plsys into tge natural response of people to say thats so disheartening. I get it but 13 people besides children died. Its all disheartening.
But, as i said, I understand your point and how many people would think the same.
Because children are more helpless? Because they haven't had the opportunities to live life yet that adults have?

Because children are innocent. It’s the same reason why we fixate on the children murdered at Sandy Hook more than the teachers and staff.

It is more disheartening to have children die than adults. I can't imagine anyone would disagree.

Guys, as i said in my post i get it. I have 2 kids of my own and would be devastated if something happened to them. My point was I don’t think enough is done for anyone passing. It makes me sick seeing the animals left behind in house and apartment buildings in Ukraine. Thats how much anything dying makes me feel.
Wasn’t looking for lessons on why people feel more for someone over someone else. Just saying all life is important to someone.

And let’s not pretend that we have not seen people on this site dismiss the death of adults and children as the deserved end of slovenly fatties or dirty ethnic groups.

Well, I'm in a covid vaccine study as of a few days ago. Got my fourth dose, and it's a new version of the vaccine that is more specifically geared towards fighting the Omicron variant. The only thing I don't know (the "blind" part, for now) is how big of a dose I got. I suspect it was less than the usual dose, because I haven't been sick after taking it. A little tired, slightly "off," but nothing like previous doses where I stayed in bed until noon.

Despite discussing it at length before going, to different people on different calls, they rejected my spouse for being type I diabetic. That's annoying.

My hope is if/when the variant of the Omicron variant gets over here from Europe, I'll have a bit of an edge against it, and also help them get enough testing done to roll it out to others.

Florida is now down to 5 cases per 100k. This is the lowest number since Spring 2020. Yes, Florida now has less cases than the when Covid19 was starting. 30 states are in single digits and the US according to the NY Times is also down to 9 cases per 100k and in single digits.
Per NY Times - US is at 9.4 per 100k, while Canada is at 14 per 100k... Australia is at 150 per 100k. Also Western Europe is very high.

That variant ba2.2 is already well established in the US.

Demonstrating once again that different vax rates and mitigation strategies seem to have less to do with the case rates than just the natural virus behavior. The vax rates will hopefully maintain an effect against serious illness and death but if we look at just the case rates it seems to be a case (no pun intended) of "the virus is going to virus."

I don't expect these case rates to stay like this long term. I expect the US to go up and Australia to go down over the next few months even with no change in strategy.

I wish more could get vaccinated and boostered. A gym rat buddy of mine was unrecognizable when he came back to work out recently. He is anti-vax , tested positive for covid and spent 6 weeks at home recovering. He advised it was a very difficult time for him. He lost approx 30 pds.

Is he still anti-vax after that?

For him to change his mind would imply that he believes the vaccine would have made a difference, a lot of anti-vaxers don't believe that.

There have been a couple big studies recently that tried to demonstrate that Ivermectin was effective but they were very flawed studies, one of which has already been withdrawn, but this will still give a boost the the pro-ivermectin crowd.
