Obviously I expect much more than some around here. As I said previously, raise your expectations for what is possible. There are successful schools out there.
Yes, you expect much more than some around here. The rest of us expect schools to suck. 🙄
I would look forward to hearing all about these successful schools. And you do realize that circumstances are different in different areas, correct?

But what did lockdowns have to do with that? In most countries lockdowns had exclusions for medical care.
I was just saying that there has been a decrease in cancer screenings during the pandemic. Is that due to lockdowns specifically? Not sure?? Potentially but I would need to look into that further.

Like what?
I have done that before. Not going to provide any further examples from what I previously stated around here because when I do, they are either ignored or ridiculed. Despite the fact that some have led to high attendance from students and teachers, and never had to close doors due to outbreaks or teacher shortages. Seems like we should be ridiculing the schools that have to continue to close, or just close preemptively.

The ongoing excuse making for schools that continue to do a poor job, while at the same time blowing off schools who have been successful by doing things differently is ridiculous. I don’t get why some just want to settle and say “well it’s just the way it is.” Raise your expectations and demand better. It doesn’t need to be this bad. Their playbook is just garbage and they refuse to change it.
16 out of 400 something schools went virtual for 2 weeks, all in the same district. So are they doing it right or wrong? They just blew off the 300+ that are open and didn’t use that when closing the 16?

Not they aren’t. A lot more can be done. Change the strategy. Look at schools that have been successful and take some of their ideas.
They actually did change the strategy based on feedback and nuance. They started with a single metric, realized it would have sent 200+ schools virtual and changed to a more nuanced wholistic approach using many factors. Still ended up with some over stretched. Parents upset they’re not virtual. Parents upset they are virtual. Different levels of ability to do virtual, so they have different levels of support available. Basically, they’re doomed if the do anything, and doomed if they do nothing and just sit people in the gym all day as they run out of staff. They’re also doomed when the run out of staff and doomed if they had so much extra staff the budget was wasted. It’s a lose lose scenario.

Obviously I expect much more than some around here. As I said previously, raise your expectations for what is possible. There are successful schools out there.
And these seem to be reacting appropriately. Unless you want that Mississippi one (I think) where they just closed 30+ schools because they couldn’t keep them open. They had no mitigation and when it failed to prevent staffing issues, they just closed for a while.

16 a few weeks ago. Another 4 recently. More before that batch of 16. All within less than a month. So…doing it wrong. Their metrics and plan stinks.

No, 16 as of right now, today, this minute, not a few weeks ago. Started 2 weeks on 1/20 so it’s almost done. Hasn’t been another announcement since then.

A few weeks ago, it was 10 based on the single metric. They shortened the virtual for them from 2 to 1 week too when they changed to the more nuance approach. Which, at the time the got angry feedback for the change in plan, for having anyone remote, and for not having everyone remote. There is no win.

There was even a protest by some students wanting all remote. Not mine, they want to be in the school. They also don’t get all the mask questions or people who wear them wrong. Teenager literally said it’s no big deal an hour ago when headed to a basketball game, they don’t understand people complaining.
