The NHL, 99.5% vaccination rate, is now up to 19% of the league in Covid protocols due to Omicron.

I still can’t find a single article referencing anyone in the hospital though, all cases are asymptomatic or mild.

Starting to look like Omicron is going to get us all, thankfully if you’re vaccinated and healthy it looks like it’ll be mild. I know more Covid positive people right now than I’ve known in the last 18 months combined, fortunately all mild so far. 🤞🏻

Keep in mind too the asymptomatic wouldn't be known too if we didn't have the incredibly regular testing. We may or may not know if we ever get omicron tbh. I still do not get bent out when people who test regularly show positive. Never have actually.

One thing I don't get is why they use the weird covid protocol vs positive test.

If Omicron is not that bad as Delta, what are the chances of lifting mask required indoors?
Terrible right now, probably pretty good in late February/early March. Looks like this is going to be a very fast spike followed by a very fast decline, by late February there should hopefully be very few new cases, the next 8 weeks are probably going to be brutal though.

Minimal at best. IF Omicron proves less detrimental to public health, and we get to the other side of the surge nationally and fall to summer 2021 levels, then maybe. Like @Vegas Disney Fan said though, while we plod through these next couple months, we're better to hope that things don't grind to a halt in our immediate necks of the woods. In a time when Universal is re-implementing their indoor mask requirement, don't count on WDW to drop theirs.

Remember, less virulent but more transmissible can still meet or exceed the societal demand and burden of Delta.

Good News: Omicron is one-fourth as serious/deadly!

Bad News: Omicron is four times more contagious.

Sad Trombone: womp womp.
Yes, because so many people wanted it to be both more deadly and more contagious.
Those who get a rise out of fear are continuously disappointed.
It might not be masks and isolation forever.
People may need to find entertainment in living life.

I don’t know one person here, or in my daily life that wanted it to be more deadly and contagious. Are you being serious??
Now you’re pushing it. Being terrified of this virus is all they know.
Again, same response as above. People wanting to be as safe as possible for their families and friends? Yes. You bet. If wearing a mask indoors at stores and restaurants etc is being “terrified “, then I guess I am. I know no one living in their basement.

Florida on Thursday reported 32,869 additional COVID-19 cases. The 7 day average is now 14,554 or 67.8 cases per 100k. I know we are all taking tests but the numbers are beyond belief. Just a few weeks ago Florida was holding steady at 7 cases per 100k and now we are at 68! I don't look forward to the numbers the NY Times reports tomorrow because everyone is having tests before Christmas.

Who wants it to be more deadly and more contagious? The fact that you believe this to be a thing is RIDICULOUS. Welcome to unfollow.

There are some crazy numbers right now, Washington DC is up 541% the last 14 days and is at 158 cases per 100,000… I don’t think we’ve seen any numbers even close to that with any of the previous strains.
