Article...

Assuming these estimates (and that is what they are especially for cases) are pretty accurate, why am I (a fully vaccinated person) told to wear a mask?

Also, the deaths by vaccine manufacturer seem to back up the anecdotal evidence that J&J isn't as good as the mRNA vaccines.

Do you see the breakthroughs among the vaccinated with the Delta wave?

For a while, the vaccinated were told they didn't need to wear a mask indoors. Then came breakthroughs with Delta. And that changed the situation, which called for a new response.

While the vaccinated weren't as affected and not as contagious, they were somewhat. Especially to protect children who, this time around, were more susceptible to COVID with the Delta variant and couldn't be vaccinated yet.

Protect children? The chart for deaths in 12-17 is so low it doesn't even register on the scale of the graph.

Less than 90 kids admitted in the hospital in texas right now due to Covid. Just under 4000 total people admitted.

:banghead:

Anti-vaxxer rhetoric wins again
No, facts and statistics win again.
Bang your head all you want. I’m just providing current stats in a state where they still have a good chunk of hospitalizations. I’m sorry if it doesn’t fit a particular narrative. And I’m also the person who is going to get my 8 year old the shot as soon as possible.
Exactly. It is possible to take the facts into account and still decide that even though the risk is extremely low to begin with, the risk reduction is worth it to get your child vaccinated.

But these numbers mean bunk! If one honestly questioned a safety aspect we could talk. This is just following rhetoric "showing" we don't need it. Kids get sick, they spread. Acting like covid is no big deal is rhetoric we never should have entertained in the first place. Stating it alone to stir while knowing one will vaccinate really is unhelpful. We vaccinate for far smaller numbers and no one questions. So no, facts here did not win. There is no narrative I am trying to follow outside of vaccination will help. Hence the headbange

See above. You conveniently left out beyond the effect unvaccinated kids have on adults and long covid too. Thank you for vaccinating your kid, but why fight people trying to prove you don't need to worry about kids if you believe it's the right thing to do? The two don't jive.

Please cite the statistics on long COVID in children and I'll have a rational discussion about what the level of risk is. Of all of the adults I know of who had COVID, 2 would be classified as having long COVID and for both the lasting symptom was taste and smell issues. Granted, that would not be a great thing to deal with for months but it isn't life threatening.

As far as the children spreading to adults vector, while that was a valid concern pre-vaccine it shouldn't really be a consideration now. The adults can get vaccinated and get boosters if needed to be protected from serious outcomes. The only reason to vaccinate a child is to protect the child. Each parent can make their own assessment and determine if it is worth it for their child.

How many times does more circulation means more breakthroughs have to be explained?

You know what's funny?

I didn’t conveniently leave out anything. I provided some data and you called it rhetoric. Reducing chances for spread can definitely been seen as a good reason to getting vaccinated.
But it seems to you and others …Deaths are rhetoric..hospitalizations are rhetoric. But long Covid isn’t? Ok.

Answer honestly now... why did you ONLY post hospital numbers?

I seriously feel you are doing harm. Covid is not a joke to the families I know whose kids were and are hospitalized. I feel like your comment was irrelevant and a slap in the face really to those of us sincerely trying to get out of this mess. If you don't get that then there's nothing to say.

Not all adults are vaccinated and they are a risk to immune compromised people. Is that good enough?

Hospitalization numbers mean bunk. Got it. 🙄

Is there any data that isn’t bunk? Would you prefer I just post news articles of children dying from Covid? Is that a more accurate picture for you?
Again if you don't see your harm then we're done. The numbers you gave really are a tiny snapshot of one location that ignores so much else. Hence what I meant by bunk. You admit to liking to stir the pot. I'm no longer amused.

More Florida projections from the Univeristy of Florida

A few things, it continues to decline in Florida, caveat a new variant could change things (Delta+ is not one of those things though as the situation in the UK is different). However, there is nothing suggesting that will happen. The projections mirror what happened in India where covid started, and is currently seeing lower numbers than last year.
