Got it.My sarcasm doesn’t translate well (even offline).
According to the Miami Herald FL is reporting deaths in bulk, on Monday and Thursday. Deaths are running about 344 per day.Uhhh. You sure about that. In one day? Doesn’t sound right.
In Andrew’s defense, I did have the wrong data.According to the Miami Herald FL is reporting deaths in bulk, on Monday and Thursday. Deaths are running about 344 per day.
Blame the poster for not realizing the 1200 deaths were over 3 or 4 days or blame FL for not releasing daily deaths?
That’s a good question. I don’t know. Hopefully someone else does.I am wondering if the "100 or more employees" rule will mean for the entire company or for a single location?

Thank you for clarifying. So does the same apply for all schools? The OSHA rule is not a vaccine mandate for all workers, it’s a requirement to test workers weekly with the option to get out of weekly testing if you are fully vaccinated. The USPS is covered under that order. For Federal employees and contractors there is a vaccine mandate. You must be vaccinated or you lose your job.
OSHA rules require shot or weekly testing. So you are saying all postal workers with have to get the shot?
Yes and no depending on the type of school. Public schools are not covered by OSHA but private schools are. OSHA is part of a Federal agency so while they have jurisdiction over Federal employees and private corporations they do not have jurisdiction over state or local government workers. However, a lot of states point to OSHA requirements for workplace safety as opposed to crafting their own set of rules so many will adopt similar rules. I would assume the same states resisting anything that would help slow covid will also resist this effort. In theory Biden could threaten to revoke Federal funding from any school that doesn’t mandate teachers are vaccinated similar to the hospital rule. He didn’t say that, he said he’d work with Governors to strongly encourage vaccine mandates for school teachers.Thank you for clarifying. So does the same apply for all schools?
We've tried strongly encouraging. So I take that as more of the same. Very disappointing.Yes and no depending on the type of school. Public schools are not covered by OSHA but private schools are. I don’t disagree. The whole state’s rights thing has really been a terrible obstacle to any form of covid response and why despite having the most access to a vaccine we have faired so much worse than a lot of countries. I’m not a fan of threatening to hold back Federal funding to force State actions, but in this case I think it’s probably justified since the Governors involved are literally killing people by not taking any action. Something needs to be done. We've tried strongly encouraging. So I take that as more of the same. Very disappointing.
One thing at a time. It is frustrating, just as it was frustrating that the CMS rule didn’t come about alongside the nursing/LTC facility rule. After getting healthcare providers mandated with the power of the purse, I wouldn’t be overly shocked to see a similar DoE ruling on teachers and staff. But for now they don’t want to be seen as using schools and their students as political pawns the way the anti-mask mandate people are. We've tried strongly encouraging. So I take that as more of the same. Very disappointing.
i’m more of a batman guy. super powers are for wimpsIf you get both covid and the vaccine, you will be super protected…and most likely get super powers like Spider-Man. It’s a win-win all around.
The federal gov't used purse strings for age 21 drinking and 55 mph speed limit.I don’t disagree. It may still happen. I think they are waiting to see how many states do it on their own and then the stick may come out for the rest. The federal gov't used purse strings for age 21 drinking and 55 mph speed limit.
JMO but vaccine is more important then either of the above.
Don't we already know FL has no interest. It may still happen. I think they are waiting to see how many states do it on their own and then the stick may come out for the rest.
I think that will be the case, but I’m not aware of the Biden administration actually reaching out to the Governor directly and asking him to mandate teachers being vaccinated. I think that has to happen first before they can then threaten to revoke Federal funding for not doing it.Don't we already know FL has no interest.
