You know what's funny?
Federal employees and contractors will be required to get the vaccine, with no option for testing. It's the next step. Hopefully more large businesses will get on with requirements, as well, emboldened by the federal employee mandate.
The states should just do it now. Start with state workers and contractors. And all public school teachers. Today. And then just mandate for all 16 and up once moderna gets “fully approved”

If we do mandates, this is where it needs to occur. Stop playing with testing and masks and social distancing. Go for the artery.

Yes it sucks when the vaccine turns out to be a pre infection theraputic.
If you're going to be dismissive of the vaccine, at least do it correctly. View it as preventative medicine keeping your rear end out of the ICU and a coffin (at least from the effects of COVID). There is so little emphasis on prevention, and way too much on treatment after the event. The treatments should be improved and dialed in over time, but why not take the first step? An ounce of prevention vs a pound of cure, and all that?

Agree. Too many state, are taking the opposite approach. Los Angeles school board is set to vote today on a mandate for 12+ that will go into effect after Christmas break. Student athletes will have until Halloween. I agree with you the states should get going, and bring contractors to the state along via whatever contractual updates need to be made.

Hi all,

This is my first time posting on this thread. Is anyone else getting COVID fatigue? I'm fully vaccinated, since April. Early summer I had more optimism about the pandemic. But now with the delta and the rise in numbers and the environments going back to COVID rules (Mask indoors). May I just vent for a sec? I'm sick of it. Again, I do believe in the science and the reasons behind certain decisions. But whereas last Spring with the vaccines, I felt like there was an end in sight. Now, not anymore and nothing is going to change and continue for years. Again, I'm just depressed and fatigue about it. While I do believe in masks, etc, it's more depression and fatigue that makes it sounds like I'm opposed to them. If this makes sense.
I don’t disagree. It’s tiring. If people could have just taken a perfectly safe vaccine this wave would have been much smaller and may have been completely avoided.

Don‘t lose hope yet. The vaccines work very well still and are still a way out of this. If you look at the anti-vaccine arguments they are becoming more and more ridiculous because none of the actual negative things these people predicted has come true. The vaccines are safe and highly effective so since they can’t argue those points we get these pathetic arguments about the semantics of wording from the CDC or the name of the Pfizer vaccine changing after full approval. That’s the best these people can come up with.

The end is still in sight but it will involve more vaccine requirements and more desperate hostility from those opposed. More companies are mandating vaccines for employees, more are charging premiums for insurance to stay unvaccinated, more public venues are requiring vaccination. The more this happens the smaller the unvaccinated group becomes. We have exceeded 75% of adults with at least 1 shot and that number grows daily. The smaller the unvaccinated group the more likely companies are to mandate vaccines. Once we get the vaccinated number high enough (above 90%) Covid becomes the measles. Not gone but contained. Unfortunately we may still be 4-6 months away from that since kids are still not eligible and it will take time to see the impact of corporate vaccine requirements.

Just wanted to know why CDC changed the wording. CDC did not explain why they changed the wording. CDC Rochelle Walensky admitted that the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines are “waning”. Now Biden wants boosters after 5 months.
Read a headline and you miss the facts. Some are pushing for earlier so Biden asks if 5 months was what they suggested He isn't at all pushing for 5 months, nor do people agree that we need boosters for all.. I am seriously sick of the twisting and turning. Just like your definition change - even dictionaries that I know were not updated recently had your exact wording. I'm sure it's changed over years as no vaccines are 100% effective. So maybe it didn't change as recently as you think?

You are not alone. I go in waves myself. I think everyone has ups and downs. Though I know my kid is just "never going to get better" so he doesn't get disappointed, but I know it will change and improve. Eventually, enough people who don't vaccinate will get immunity and vaccines too. Not all mutations are scary or should be feared. Eventually, it could become another cold.
If you are vaccinated, I say just live your life and filter out the noise. You have done your part. Following daily case counts and the rest is fatiguing. It also isn't necessary for the average vaccinated person to do so because it doesn't really accomplish anything other than stress.
The ones I feel for are those who cannot vaccinate yet. That part is still a reality for many of my friends with little ones. It's a totally different world than what the fully vaccinated think

It is fatigue and actually a little amusement to hear about the conspiracy theories on how able bodied people are steadfast in refusing to be vaccinated. What is not amusing is when some are getting ready to be intubated in the covid ward asking the doctor to give them the vaccine and get the response that it is too late for that. I'm glad the local gyms are open so I can lift with my fellow gym rats to combat covid fatigue.

My 3 and 8 year olds live in the same world I live in. :hilarious:
As I have said before, I am not too concerned for my kids. They are gonna be fine and are fully back to doing normal kid things. What I am is ticked off that we essentially need this age group to be vaccinated because too many adults won’t suck it up and get the shot.

Vaxform based in Allentown PA was working on a oral covid vaccine last year. Tutti frutti and bubble gum are my suggestions for flavors and perhaps would be a hit with the kids if this ever happens.

With me having an 11 year old it is very frustrating. I would love for him to be vaccinated but right now he's 8 months too young. Physically he's the size of those approved for the vaccines at 12+ but just a little too young yet in age.

Even still your mostly unconcerned is not the same as my fully vaccinated house where were do not care at all. As someone helping to run a production, the unvaccinated 6th graders changes how we have to do things. Even those 6th graders live by totally different rules than my own kid does with close contact notices. So yes, different worlds even when not concerned.

And that's the problem. Everyone is busy focusing on these things yet they don't seem to care about how we got here in the first place. If we don't know how we got here, we don't know how to keep from repeating it again in a few years.
There is certainly merit in identifying a root cause for any type of disaster or incident. It allows us to put concrete steps in place to help prevent similar events in the future. From my perspective, unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a lot of sincere effort being put into this right now.
