It's a slippery slope. Everyone has a line. Or a different definition.
It is not essential to go see a movie if it is raining, but you can still choose to drive with that increased risk. Just because it is not as newsy does not mean millions do not make that choice every day to enjoy a non necessity.

A better analogy would be driving while drunk, which (I hope) we all recognise as inexcusably reckless and selfish.

"Study shows 99% of Italy’s deaths had preexisting medical conditions with 48.5% having 3 or more conditions and average age of fatalities is 79.5 years"
Did you read the article posted on the previous page (or maybe the one before that) which says they're being forced to limit use of respirators to those under 60? Those death tallies you're so fond of are going to change.

That one is more obvious, but I gave the analogy for a reason. We all spread the flu and common cold our entire lives, and that never made us selfish when we felt good and did not know we had it or had to live as if we had it. If we start deciding who has to close or what we are allowed to do "for a greater good" to where many lose their persuit of happiness, we enter Animal Farm.

My point was on purpose that life is an inherent risk and a movie theater, fun spot, or some kids still choosing to go to the beach may have some arrogance, but everyone has their own line and limit to decide. Eventually we allike choices, yes driving in the rain increases your likely hood of dying and killkng others in a crash substantially, but even though millions around the country or billions around the world do it and often die or kill others, it is not as newsy.

I realize your purpose is to alleviate concern over dying from it. Still, every death is one death too many from a virus that rapidly spread worldwide from China. If only China was more forthcoming as soon as they knew. But too late for that now. Sigh...

I’ve gotten sicknesses when traveling that would surely have killed me if I wasn’t as healthy. And once when I was crazy sick with who knows what I went to a show that I already had a ticket for. I suppose a germ that I left on my theatre seat could have made the next patron sick.... idk.

I’m not saying the USA should do nothing. But I firmly believe we have already gone too far.

2 questions to ask when determining if this relevant information: Firstly is the higher death-rate of the older people caused because they are being denied treatment, with ventilators etc being given to younger patients? Secondly, what percentage of the general population has pre-existing conditions (as high as 15-20% estimate in U.S.) and is this group being denied treatment because ventilators etc are being given to "fitter" patients?

The people still insisting on bunching up in grocery lines tells me we haven't gone far enough.

Just sharing facts. This is Italy's "nightmare".

I'd give you two "likes" but it wasn't an option.

Yeah, same here. I’ve been on the phone or in group chats since DeWine’s update earlier. We still have no idea where we stand, waiting for clarity. We won’t know until tomorrow.

I'm in the specialty chemical industry (though not pharma or fertilizers). We are still considering ourselves "essential" and going to work for those whos jobs cannot be done from home. (Maintaining all the appropriate hygiene/distance practices.)
