Here is the booster news -

"The United States will begin widely distributing Covid-19 booster shots next month as new data shows that vaccine protection wanes over time, top U.S. health officials announced in a joint statement Wednesday.

“The available data make very clear that protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection begins to decrease over time following the initial doses of vaccination, and in association with the dominance of the Delta variant, we are starting to see evidence of reduced protection against mild and moderate disease,” according to the statement signed by CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock, White House chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci and other U.S. health leaders. “Based on our latest assessment, the current protection against severe disease, hospitalization, and death could diminish in the months ahead, especially among those who are at higher risk or were vaccinated during the earlier phases of the vaccination rollout."

As a result, U.S. agencies are preparing to offer booster shots to all Americans beginning the week of Sept. 20, starting 8 months after their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna’s vaccines, officials said. While they said recipients of Johnson & Johnson’s single-shot vaccine will likely need boosters, they are awaiting more data in the next few weeks before making a formal recommendation."

Message from the pope. Perhaps it sways some holdouts:

"Getting vaccinated is a simple yet profound way to care for one another, especially the most vulnerable," he said. "I pray to God that each of us can make his or her own small gesture of love."
There is some infighting so to speak with some Catholics in the US. They are using certain excuses for not getting the vaccine. Some bishops are refusing to give a religious exclusion for any vaccine. Some are with J&J. Not all is cut and dry. Wish more people listened to him on this one. Being Catholic though I know the impossibility of it. Even from other Catholics, some are consistently dividing from the church and stances on some issues.

Only $10 per card demonstrates a lack of knowledge of street value in addition to the sadness of people so easily willing to sacrifice any principals they supposedly believe in for not being vaccinated.
The worse ones are the knock-offs with bad spelling and translations, both those selling and buying them.
Wholesaler bulk sale, less risk, less customers, discounted price. You can bet the buyers marked up the price significantly when they sold them on in smaller quantities to end buyers.

Interesting. I thought it was mostly Pfizer that needed the booster. Didn’t realize moderna would need one as well.

Then no more masks for me on the train ride, as NJ Transit will FINALLY lift mask mandate for trains and buses in early 2022.
I do get that it seems masks on trains seems to be a really big issue for you, but really I think you're just going to have to learn to exercise a little bit of patience and take each day for what it is with the covid pandemic. We have no idea when things are really going to get better. We have no idea when the last wave is really going to be. We have no idea if this is really going to be the last major pandemic in our lifetimes. So while it is nice to hope for a certain timeline, I wouldn't really get your heart set on it. Hakuna matata...

Still haven't to my knowledge duplicated knock off theme park tickets.

About time. It was ludicrous that I had to wear a mask while on an outdoor attraction.

That may be graduation rates, and yet there’s still a massive nationwide teacher shortage. Because they don’t stay in the profession. On top of that, Covid has escalated how many are leaving.
Not one single intelligent person can blame them, either. Same goes for anyone working in any type of front-facing customer service job (waiter/waitress, retail, etc).

To be fair with enough breakthrough cases with both, they'll need it. Trials are running to make sure but Moderna put the word out themselves on this.

If booster vaccines stops spreading Delta variant by December/January, then we will ending the pandemic in 2022 in USA as early.
Also booster vaccine can stop future variants too.

A quote from that article: "While Moderna is developing vaccine candidates tailored to fight variants including Delta, Hoge said the initial booster would likely be the original formulation of Moderna's vaccine given at half the strength of the first two shots."

I was wondering if the booster would be different since they said that they were working on Delta-specific (and SA-specific, and others) variants of the drug. But those probably pose a higher hurdle to go through for safety.

Hopefully half strength means far fewer side effects, as that will make a 3rd shot easier to deal with.

I really think you need to let the set timelines go. It's just as likely that we'll end up seeing another surge of a different variant during that time frame.
@GoofGoof @helenabear @Sirwalterraleigh I'm scared in December about different variant, is really gonna MASSIVE surge of a different variant or not....You know, holidays, Christmas and Thanksgiving, I'm afraid federal transportation mask mandate will extend into 2023/2024 as the pandemic will ending for another more years to come...:cry::cry::cry::cry: Different variants is always wins the challenge, as we will have to lock down whole country AGAIN for months....WE WILL NEVER DEFEAT THE PANDEMIC FOR YEARS TO COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DON'T WANT DIFFERENT VARIANT TO BE HAPPEN IN MONTHS.

True. My FIL is a teacher in FL and he is back to being retired again. He went to school last week when it was just the teachers and everyone was masked (required for teachers) and he felt pretty safe 😷. Then the kids came back this week. The district is “mask optional“ for kids and he said there were only a handful of kids with masks on in his classes so he resigned and is now trying to get back into the virtual program but that has been almost completely cut this year. He is higher risk due to his age but he was hoping this school year would be Ok. They are desperate for teachers.

Maybe if the rabid anti-vax Cardinal who is currently hospitalized on a ventilator dies, they'll change their mind.
