Most viruses mutate, not uncommon. It's why we have yearly flu vaccinations because the flu typically evolves. Nothing to be scared of.
Is we are really go back to normal by July instead Christmas?
Also take at this:
If escape variant is here to dominant now by July, I'm scared now....

I'll be honest, in the medical profession we take what the CDC says with a grain of salt. They have become a bit political as of late and have been wrong on a lot of things they have put out over the years.

That being said, back to normal? Probably not full fledged 6 inches apart in line and not cleaning. If there are a good thing that has come out of covid is the attention to detail on sanitation.

I have not seen many young people in the ER from covid. Right now many people are coming in with asthma, bronchitis and allergy induced breathing issues more than covid, considering the season we are in.

Back to normal is a subjective view, what's normal to me may not be for you. As far as disney goes, no disney will not be back to normal by July. From the peer reviewed articles I've read by a few infectious disease doctors they are estimating fall 2021 to have a more "normalcy" throughout the United States.

I belive that depending on where you live really depends on how normal they let you be. But I wouldn't be scared of a virus, just be more cautious of things

@HarperRose This isn't specifically towards you, just the millennial topic others have mentioned

I'm a millennial (33), not getting vaccinated neither are my kids and my wife decided against it too. We are in great shape and have zero health concerns. We are outside everyday and don't have a vitamin D deficiency. We understand how good health can keep us from getting sick and even spreading any type of virus.

The vaccine is not going to save anybody from getting the virus or even spreading it. It lessens the affect it has on you. That being said we think it's cool if people do or don't get a vaccine. We could care less. We would rather see people take better care of themselves physically. I think if you look at the numbers you could look at underlying conditions and find motivation to eat a little better, run ane lift some weights.

A vaccine is not the cure all for this virus.
Interesting take.... I'm 29 and got vaccinated ASAP, not just for me, but to protect others who either can't be vaccinated, or are otherwise at risk. My husband and I have a hard rule this year, no vax, no visiting at my house.

I do take care of myself by staying active, being outdoors, and taking supplements. But my thought is, there isn't much of a downside to the vaccines. I had essentially no side effects and it can help stop the spread. I have noticed more people my age don't want it, like you said, its a choice. But I am just choosing not to congregate with people who aren't. Which is sadly why I haven't been to church in so long and probably won't for a while.

I don't put hate on anyone for choices they feel are best for them, but it's hard not to view anti vax and anti mask (which I haven't seen you say anything about so this isn't pertaining to you) as a bit selfish.

Just got back from 8 nights at Caribbean Beach. Main takeaway: The Skyliner is waaaaay better than the monorail. Don't @ me, nerds.

As it relates to this thread: annoying things at WDW right now, ranked by order of annoying-ness, from least annoying to most annoying.

15. Temperature screening
14. Wearing masks (dry weather)
13. Park Pass reservation system
12. Can't park hop until 2:00
11. Not all resorts are open
10. Some dining locations ONLY support mobile ordering
9. Limited dining options
8. No parades or fireworks
7. Queues spilling out onto every walking path
6. Can't walk around and snack
5. No housekeeping
4. Plexiglass on rides

Just for fun, this would be my ranking using the same 15. For context, I'm local and an AP.

Where do you draw the line on the list for the things that ACTUALLY bother you versus minor nuisances? For me, only the top 6 are what I'd consider big problems. I hated the inability to communicate. I couldn't hear a damn thing anyone was saying and you don't get the help of reading lips, so everyone is screaming at each other and it's still a muffled mess.

I guess a lot of them I have just simply gotten used to. I've been at least 70 days post pandemic so a lot of these just feel... normal? At this point??

I will say the thing that really bothers me the most in park is definitely the Plexiglas glass on ride. I understand it's used to boost capacity but it is just really not great. If anyone was riding MMRR or ROTR for the first time behind plexiglass I would feel so bad. That's not how the attraction should be viewed. Sat behind it on Navi River last week and it was equally as bad. That was a newer plexiglass add.

But to answer your question, I'd say my top 3. Everything else I've gotten used to. Masks are whatever at this point, I don't even think about them. Not being able to eat a pretzel or drink a beer in an inside queue is pretty annoying.

Well said. When someone says "that does not work" to literally everything positive that the experts come up with or suggest, I don't see any other possibility.

You may want to crack a book on virology to understand how viruses work, specifically the SARS virus (Sars Cov 2). I definitely don't hate anybody for decisions they make. I hope you share that same mentality with other vaccinations like the flu for instance or say MMR.

A lack of vitamin D in your body actually is the culprit for many viruses. This is common knowledge in medicine. If your body lacks the natural minerals to fight a virus introducing something into your body to fight a virus won't be as effective. There is a reason states that are open now where people are outside, exercising and being in the sun are having substantially better results than states who are closed and restricting activities outdoors. It's really simple, when you're in the sun outside at disney you feel euphoric almost, yes the atmosphere and rides help, but just being out in the warm weather, sun and fresh air have a lot to do with this.

I feel bad for people who fear monger people into feeling bad for personal health decisions. I'll never bash someone for choosing to put something into their body that has yet to be approved by the FDA and is only being used by emergency order. I would go out on a limb here and say you belive that those who have tested positive for covid are basically signing a death certificate or have a high rate of being admitted to a hospital. Hospitalization for those who have tested positive for covid are less than 15% of all cases. The morbidity rate isn't high at all.

Talking morbidity rate those who have hypertension and or obesity are the highest at risk population. So control your food intake, get out in the sun and lose some weight then your solid.
Let me throw down my cards. Board-certified physician in family medicine with over 15 years of experience.

Your statements contain faint hints of reality, but are mostly absolute bunk.

EDIT: For some reason, I originally wrote "internal medicine, but I think my phone may have auto-filled that. I'm board certified in family medicine.

I agree with this. Those were my 2 what-if scenarios.

Vaccine hesitancy is real. We will not get to 100% vaccinated or even 90%. 75% is a realistic goal but it will likely end up being lower, maybe 60-70%. Off the bat 15% of the population is under 12. That means if everyone who is eligible (once kids 12-15 are approved) got the vaccine we would only be at 85% vaccinated. If we get 80% of eligible to take the vaccine we get to about 68% of the total population. 70% of eligible gets us to 60% of the population. IMHO thats the min we need to target. Recent polling makes 70% look like a realistic and achievable number. Will 60% of the population vaccinated get us to herd immunity? Looking at Israel they are at 59% with at least 1 shot and they may have reached herd immunity. It’s possible that ballpark gets us there. The good news is we are at 40% of the population started so we would need another 20% or 66M more people. Based on current pace of first shots we can and should hit 60% of the population with 1 shot in 4-6 weeks. That puts us Mid to late May or to be conservative Memorial Day weekend. We will have enough doses to do it and we‘ve shown we can inject enough doses to get there, the only hold back is getting enough people in.

If there is an escape variant that becomes dominant in the US it delays our return to normal for sure. We would need a new booster to stop the variant and that would take a few months to develop and test before kicking off manufacturing and distribution. In theory once the booster was developed and manufacturing kicked off we could roll it out to the whole population in a matter of 3 months. Start to finish probably a 5-6 month process. So if this theoretical variant became dominant by July it could mean a delay of a return to normal until Christmas. Again, this is a “what if” and a worst case scenario that is in no way a guarantee to happen.
Good. I thought the escape variant is gonna be reality.
