I don’t think it was being less than forthright, just overly conservative with a target of end of July. I like this announcement so much better. There’s a chance we don’t get there and miss the target but I’d much prefer they set an aspirational goal and shoot for achieving it then something that was almost impossible not to make.

They were hedging...because the public is not intelligent.

They’ve proven it over and over again in the last few years.

Good. When you need a hammer...use one...don’t use a spoon.

Let's assume the best, just for the sake of a hypothetical. Let's say case numbers, hospitalizations, and deaths continue to decline. And let's say that Biden is correct and we have enough vaccine by the end of May for any adult who wants it. And let's say that the trend continues of states eliminating mandatory restrictions.

When do you think Walt Disney World pulls back on their restrictions? Not when do you think they should, but when do you think they would?
Million dollar question...or hundreds of millions for Disney

I think we start seeing the pull back soon but major restrictions like masks and distancing not until the Summer after all CMs have had their shot at the earliest. If nationally restaurants operate without capacity limits that’s a good sign that Disney can. Masks are way tougher to call. Maybe start with only required indoor and work towards optional. I still think all restrictions gone by 10/1 but it could be earlier if things go well.

Ok I’ll take a shot. Masks through end of year, just to be sure. Capacity by fall perhaps? Don’t think they would even have enough time to work things out to get everyone back and shows going without a few months warning. Do we win a prize or closest? 🙂

The big when question is what we are all wondering but it would be something else if the crowds come back for the 50th anniversary celebration for MK in Sept 2021.

I’m calling it right now, WDW and the country will be back to normal by the 4th of July, and it’s going to be one hell of a party. It takes 4 weeks after your shot to be protected with J&J, so Moderna’s 6 weeks is still the longest wait. The fourth is nearly 6 weeks after the end of May. Barring a varient escaping the vaccine all restrictions will be lifted no later then Independence Day.
Cue the shark....

Maybe. I think it's very very likely that lots of people (and states) will have stopped mitigation measures by July 4th.
We may very well still have the CDC yelling as us to pull back.

Look what's happening in Texas now... Already ending mask mandates..

This type of behavior *could* lead to a March/April surge... which may make us pull back a bit.

Basically, I'll cross my fingers that we can *safely* have a normal WDW by July 4th.

Yeah...there’s two states I won’t take “queues” from...the other starts with a “F”

But to your point...the thing about the summer is you don’t get viral spread anyway...so if they really pump out/in the vaccines in the next 3 months...won’t nature help ya flatline this thing??

Work smarter...not harder.

I don’t necessarily think that July 4th is a “big party”...but the more important thing is being prepared to adjust for any issue like this in the future.

If people can learn the lessons and be able to respond the next time response is needed? Then burn your mask
We can learn from it, and still throw the party of the century at the same time. When this thing is over, the world is going to want to celebrate in a way it hasn’t done probably the end of WWII. We’ll of course get a jump on things because we are vaccinating so fast and we have an ocean to block off access to the virus reentering easily (I don’t think international travel will return until 2022 at the earliest.)

My guess. Is capacity sometime this summer and masks the first week of December

I just think we’ll go back to “money...stuff...and me”...

But I’ll take it. Greatest generation was right...we are not it.

Mississippi announced that, like Texas, they are ending the mask mandate and allowing businesses to resume 100% capacity. Like it or not, I think this is the trend we are going to see over the next few weeks.
We’re not as important from a population standpoint, but Montana and our North Dakota neighbors also went this way in February.
I’m actually surprised that, so far anyway, mask compliance hasn’t changed considerably in my immediate area (it’s always been around 60%)

Goof's optimism may be paying off. A very very good sign... and brings back the possibility of greater normalcy by summer.

I don't believe Fauci or Biden were ever being less forthright than the best information they had at the time (though perhaps phrasing things on the more cautious side).
Lol exactly one year ago, Fauci said:

"A vaccine that you make and start testing in a year is not a vaccine that's deployable."

And:

"There's no need to change anything you're doing on a day-to-day basis."

I know everyone who hates Trump has to de facto worship Fauci, but the guy is either a liar or an incompetent hack.

EDIT: Fauci* is either a liar or an incompetent hack. Trump is both a liar and an incompetent hack.

We’re over reminiscing about the past. On to focus on the future And our return to normal :)
