As of this report, 50% (2,256,760) of the 65+ population of FL (approximately 4.5 million) have received at least the first shot. It will be interesting to see how high the percentage gets before demand for appointments starts dropping. Hopefully for this population it will be well above the 80% that @GoofGoof has posted from various polls.

I think it will be closer to 90% for that group since 80% was the number who said they would get it right away if eligible, but of the people who said they would not about a third said they wouldn’t because they wanted to wait to see if it was safe and effective. I can’t imagine how much longer they would need to wait for that, but I expect most of that group to come around. The other 2/3 of the no’s who are either against all vaccines or feel this one was rushed will be tougher to convince. No amount of time is likely to sway them and at least some of those people are refusing on principle as opposed to for actual scientific doubts. It’s tough to battle that. It may be that vaccine passports that allow you to do certain things only if vaccinated would bring some of those people in, but that’s months and months down the road so no immediate impact.

Are states DHS set up to do that?

Are all vaccination sires really feeding some central database tracking everyone?

Or is each site just tracking its own from dose 1 to 2, and giving people the little card for their own tracking?

Because if it’s the latter, and someone lies (which they will), who is liable when someone dies? Say the spouse of an employee who is contact traced back to the visitor who lied? Does the facility get sued for an unsafe working condition? Only the liar? Does it even matter? The facility has to assume they will be sued and determine what their insurance will cover. Doesn’t matter who would win. The facility has to assume the risk of allowing the unknown person in is worth the risk.

Once community spread is low enough, the risk goes away. We’re trending toward that outcome. Every vaccinated person helps us get closer to that goal. There’s no individual shortcut for a community problem, needs community actions.
Here in WA they are handing out the CDC vaccination record card as well as entering it to our state's immunization information system which records all vaccinations given, regardless of age, in the state of WA.

Here in Hillsborough county at the state run site I was scanned into the system my information triple checked then handed the card with the lot number. I'm pretty sure the state knows exactly what I was given. Too bad they haven't been able to call me to schedule a second dose. My return day is Tuesday but I can't return without an appointment and there is no way to contact a person so maybe after that expires I can find someone to ask whats up?

Oh, they are moving the site tomorrow so that may add to the cluster.

To you and your ilk he may be a laughingstock. Not to me and many others. I'll pass along your compliments on his speech if I ever run into him at Publix.

I talked to Chris Christie for about 10 minutes once as they brought his car around in the statehouse. He was a decent guy. Looks like a prince compared to blowhard “mr. May” in your neck of the woods. Big in Florida...laughable in the other 49

Down money and down residents now...the record speaks for itself. Keep those bars open 😂

Anyway..If you want to run into him at Publix...make sure you go to ones in really high net worth zipcodes. 👍🏻

On the Florida vaccine reports:

What’s with the drops on weekends?? That doesn’t appear to be data dumps as we saw with the other figures prior.

They aren’t seriously only running vaccination clinics M-F, are they??

Here in middle Georgia, we received the CDC card with lot numbers and vaccine type, state health department registration and appointments are readily available during Publix wweekly sign up. No walk up or drive ups yet.The county health departments are not much of a resource to try (health care of last resort, so always overworked). For densely populated and truly remote areas it's difficult as its dog.

Personally I'm suffering through day 2 after the 2nd shot and its rough and I've had about every immunization that's out there ( including the full anthrax series, Bubonic plague, yellow fever, etc).

I’m not a politics guy but he actually was in my Publix two months ago. In a rural town of a few thousand people.

I don't think vaccine passports have to become a reality before having an impact; the mere prospect of them may serve to incentivize people. The news has been full of stories about health passes, vaccine passports and most recently about the fact that Israel is already using them. Younger people who are not necessarily concerned about getting COVID may decide to get the vaccine now in case it becomes necessary for travel and entertainment venues. FOMO is real.

They went through today then they are closing to move tomorrow, don't know about the others but usually there is not enough vaccine to go full out.

I know my mom said the 2nd dose was fairly rough about 24hrs later. She said if that's just a fraction of what covid is like, she can truly emphasize with those who truly have a positive case. My dad finally was able to find a place to get his first dose--he's been on 10 waiting lists and we check daily. Finally found a spot a Safeway.

My fingers are crossed that they will open phase 1b-3 up in March so I can get at least one shot in before going to FL in April. I, too, am nervous about how I'll react to it. My one and only experience with the Flu vaccine was not great. I ended up with a lymph node that was so swollen in my neck I ended up seeing an ENT for it (they didn't know it was a lymph node at the time, just some "weird swelling" after the vaccine). Had to be reported to my employee health and the CDC. I've been told it was an allergy of some sort. Never had any reaction to any other vaccine.

It is possible just the threat of it will work for some people. I don’t think we will ever get to the level that Israel is at with prohibiting people from doing things without a vaccine, but certainly some less frequent activities with exposure to large numbers of people it can work here. Cruises being an easy one to apply it to and I could see maybe concerts and pro sports games as well. WDW could do it but I’m not sure they will because they won’t want to turn down customers if they can avoid it.

I'd imagine a lot of medical professionals get it at work (and may only be offered M-F depending on staffing?)

Maybe the same is true for nursing homes?

Still odd based on the timeline...you don’t decree this during the long spike in the US where really embarrassed ourselves (also the great overthrow of King Lear episode)...and you do it now??

Just seems like they’re coming up with new ulterior motives in the swamp now.
I disagree:

-CDC guidelines have changed significantly over the last 5 weeks (significant considering we're almost a year in). "New CDC, New Me".

-Disney HAS raised its allocations numbers within the last 30 days (I don't use the term "capacity" because it's misleading, and Disney knows this). Table service restaurant capacity is very important to Disney's guest experience, so increasing the number of tables per day accommodates current crowd levels which are at or above December/early January levels.

-People shouldn't be ordering food within 6 feet of server without wearing their mask. Server face shields don't block smaller aerosol particles floating in the air, and people shouldn't be expelling unblocked particles around them.

When my mom got her series starting back in January, somebody from the State did call her to schedule the second appointment a few days in advance. You might want to go to https://myvaccine.fl.gov/. I think there is an option to say you need a second dose.

The State run and supported sites are 7 days a week. I don't know what the retail partners do or the county run sites. They don't have enough doses to do any more per week anyway. They are reserving second doses so that's the difference between doses delivered and doses administered.

There are several counties that are heavily Democrat and run almost completely by Democrats. They see all of the test results and other "numbers" coming through their county health departments. If the State was changing numbers as you (and Ms. Jones) imply, the mayors and county commissioners of these counties would be out there showing the proof of it. They aren't.
DeSantis has made sure that:

Florida has delayed reporting data.

Florida has limited reporting data. ("The state Department of Health on Wednesday ordered an investigation of all pandemic fatalities, one week after House Speaker Jose Oliva slammed the death data from medical examiners as “often lacking in rigor” and undermining "the completeness and reliability of the death records.”)

Florida does not count non-resident deaths as COVID deaths.

Florida does not count Covid CODs as determined by medical examiners after death. ("Florida in August changed its rules for determining whether someone died of COVID-19, moving that responsibility from public medical examiners to the doctors who treated the patients. The change was meant to relieve medical examiners who were swamped with COVID deaths, but it also created inconsistencies in how COVID deaths are documented and raised new questions about the accuracy and timeliness of the state’s COVID-19 death counts.

Florida Surgeon General Scott Rivkees this week ordered an investigation into delayed reporting of COVID deaths, noting that some are now being reported two months late. A spokesman for Gov. Ron DeSantis questioned how a death could be caused by COVID months after a positive test result. At the same time, health experts say it is more likely that Florida’s COVID deaths, now at more than 16,500, are understated.

Jill Fisch is convinced her 78-year-old mother, Marjorie Levy, died from the virus in her Palm Beach County nursing home. But the doctor listed “natural causes” as the cause of death on the death certificate. Fisch said her mother tested positive for the virus on Sept. 29 and died on Oct. 9. “There is no way it wasn’t COVID-related,” she said.

Isaiah Clark, owner of Bell & Clark Funeral Home in Riviera Beach, said several times he has been told a deceased person is COVID-positive when he arrives to pick them up at a hospital, only to find no mention of the virus on the death certificate. “It has become a mess whether they want to admit it or not.")

Florida has refused to retroactively add deaths that were not counted as COVID deaths.

Florida has as many deaths as New York and New Jersey COMBINED (since September 1st).

I could keep going on but "the flu is worse crowd" is skeptical of facts.
