So when this is over and millions are unemployed and the airlines have merged into one super airline with super high prices but we have managed to save the lives of a few thousand 70+ yr olds who die just after it's all over do we think Disney will be offering some amazing room rates and ticket deals? In the past after economic disasters which were nothing like this one will be the prices were more realistic and they froze or minimally increased prices, they can't roll them back from the stupid prices they are charging now as it will expose how they fleeced everyone so maybe packages with free dining and almost free rooms might be the way to win back people who are lucky enough not to living in their cars.

But if you have no or just mild symptoms, then you probably don't think you need to be tested. But even if you do, they're probably not going to test you because you don't have severe symptoms. It's a vicious cycle, catch-22, no-win situation...or something like that.

I’m sure you know this. Just because you don’t have symptoms is no reason not to be tested. If you have seniors in your circle it is incumbent upon you to get tested. They are the most vulnerable. You could pass it to them.

They’ll do whatever they need to do to sell rooms and tickets.

Representatives of the Union and Walt Disney World Management team discussed the following items covering the time period until March 31, 2020. As this is a fluid situation, the parties are committed to continuing discussions about future changes to Union members at Walt Disney World. Here is what we know so far:

For the week of March 15-March 21, Full-Time and Part-Time Cast will be paid for all straight time scheduled hours that they do not work up to 40 hours.

If you are not scheduled for the time period of March 22 through March 31, Full-Time and Part-Time Cast will be paid based upon an average of hours paid during a time period to be determined*, up to 40 hours. For Full-Time, the minimum hours paid will be 32 hours.

Cast Members will be paid their statused rate of pay. For example, a statused Coordinator will be paid the $1.50 premium while relief Coordinators will not.
Tipped Cast Members will be paid the “Vacation Rate” they normally receive while on paid time off.
All hours paid during this time period will count towards eligibility for FT status.
The Company has committed that no Full-Time Cast Member will lose their Healthcare benefits.
The Company has committed to grant any unpaid Leave of Absence requested by a Cast Member.
Remember to check your schedule on the HUB on a regular basis as this situation will be changing from day-to-day. You can also utilize the Company Emergency Hotlines for operational updates. As we learn more information, we will provide information.
Contact your Local Union for more information. Stay strong and United. We are all in this together.
*As soon as this time period is determined, we will provide an update.

If WDW decides not to pay the cast past 3/31 and the parks and resorts are closed for a longer period of time, are they eligible to collect unemploynent?

Based on my observations the past several years, with packed crowds on seemingly random Tuesday's, my response to a consistenly "dead" Disney park is "I'll believe it when I see it."

Social media is bad in so many ways. It certainly was a big cause of panic buying and runs on TP. It has also resulted in a lot of misinformation getting out. For some reason when a lot of people hear something on Facebook or Twitter they hang onto it and even refuse to listen when a reputable source debunks the story. I don't think that’s the case here. This is happening world wide at every level of government and society. It’s a lot more than just social media hysteria.

In answer to the legacy for the future I would hope this leads to an increase in available ICU beds, ventilators and other equipment. At the state and local level there should be much better protocols in place for testing, isolation and quarantine when necessary. They should be able to immediately activate testing centers and ramp up quickly. At the federal level we should have a high level position that is in charge of coordinating response to a situation like this. I know there was one in the past, that needs to be back. I don’t think we need to panic if this happens again. If anything people should know exactly how to respond.
@RobWDW1971 social media is beyond ridiculous. I have a lot of issues with it. I'm in marketing and know the value from that perspective. With that said. I'm not on FB. I'm not on Twitter...IG...etc. Social media did not effect me at all. I get my updates threw news channels, which some are fine. I can cut threw the clickbait headlines or "tune in after the break". The end result is an unhealthy balance of 'we are keeping our May 1 WDW trip' to, we need to buy more eggs and milk before they're gone forever. Good times.

Based on your name I am going to assume you are 30 so I will also assume you haven't seen the bad times when Disney was walk on everywhere. It's coming again soon so forget those fastpasess because walk on rides will be here again, happy times! Well happy except for the awful overpriced food but if they get desperate they can do a SeaWorld and let us eat all the gruel we want once an hour.

Yes it's important to get tested so when you are negative you know you are negative at that time then when you interact with anyone you should get tested again, and again and again etc. Infact to ensure your constant negativity (a lot of people on this board insist on negativity) testing should be as frequent as handwashing otherwise you will not know you are still very negative.

. I popped in on the way home from work and all I wanted was 2 bottles of almond milk and some breakfast bars....all gone!
Yea, my 2yr old daughter is allergic to dairy. She drinks Silk soy milk but not a store around us has any, even good ole amazon. We've been trying for days it's crazy. My wifes getting worried that if things go into further lockdown we won't have enough. This whole hording nonsense is ridiculous.

It’s going to be quite some time before that many test are available. They are still going to be picky about who can get tested.. just maybe not as terribly restrictive as they have been the past several weeks.

It is. Extreme selfishness. I'm hoping the hoarding and panic shopping will slow during the next week.

Yes. Already posted. They could have decided to close a week ago and MK would be packed the night prior. If they had decided to close on Sunday then MK would have been packed on Saturday. Whatever. They’re closed now, currently through 3/31 but I’m not optimistic they’ll reopen 4/1.

They should have, at the very least, cancelled all parades, fireworks and shows where more than 250+ people are gathered.

Yes because those few thousand of 70 year olds are human beings who deserved to be saved.

Disney will do what ever it decided to do. If people feel they are being fleeced they will vote by not going.

I was in Florida in 2008. Back when they would give you a free ticket just for it being your birthday, that was probably the worst I've seen it (though the lines were very enjoyable). It just seems that Disney is so ingrained in our culture these days that it's turned into a priority for many. It will be truly interesting to watch from a viewer perspective, but I'm not going to assume the parks will be dead, especially with so many March/April rescheduling a few months out.

Try specialist health food stores they often stock this and the thought of a health food store keeps most people away so they often have high stocks of things because most sell very little. If they put toilet paper in the window to attract people in that may change but for now you might be in luck if you have one near by.

Unfortunately, it's a response to the constant media drumbeat of Corona Virus is coming for you ! We're blessed to be in Aulani this week where character interaction seems to be routine. All costumed characters are out and about (except for Moana). Character breakfasts are still being scheduled.....a rainy day at Aulani is still better than the best day telecommuting!
