That article doesn't contradict anything I've said. Obviously the goal is to avoid it - which is why all the closures, social distancing, etc. But it's a very real possibility if the disease goes unchecked. Again, it's happening in Italy as we speak.
Rationing has been discussed but not happening. It was my impression that you said that this was already occurring.

I don't pay attention to the 24/7 news cycles. I talk to doctors and scientists whom I'm aquatinted with. I live in the Boston area, near some of the best hospitals and scientific research universities in the world. And all the doctors I've talked to, from some of the best hospitals in the world, are saying that if we don't isolate ourselves, it will be a disaster in two months time.

I'm not usually one for heavy government intervention into things. But seeing opinions like this and cavalier attitudes about a national health crisis make me hope that our leaders mandate isolation, because as long as there are people not taking this seriously, this will be disasterous.

When Las Vegas shuts down (see below) and does not want to take people's money is when you know it's real. And besides Disney and Universal closing down you have the cruise industry closed, basically all of Hollywood is closed including all TV shows and movies, schools being closed down indefinitely in major cities and in some cases states, all of Broadway as well as bars, movie theaters, and restaurants in NY, and a long and growing list of other industries that are having to figure out how to survive. I'm sure all these different businesses are just overacting and that they are fine with losing, in some cases, billions of dollars.

I'm surprised that this doesn't happen all the time when we have a bad flu season.

Do we know if they will still be running rides? Reason i ask is a body at rest trys to stay at rest 😉. Will they be running the rides a little everyday to keep everything loose and lubricated. Things can degrade pretty quickly.

So apparently someone that visited our corporate office building tested positive. Only the ppl what were in the same rooms for meetings are to self quarantine.
On top of that the local paper just reported some guy attended the basketball sectionals at our high school that is positive. Local news paper is possibly misinforming IMO the public by stating symptoms

Do we know for certain mass graves are being dug in Iran? Our society has been pretty prone to taking photos and videos shared via social media out of context (ie Covington). How do we know for sure we’re not taking those satellite images out of context?

1. Did you click on the article? They are digging in a cemetery.

2. I don't mean to digress, but how did anyone take Covington out of context?

Rides get stopped for months during refurbs so I doubt it. Sure, 1 month in they might give them all a quick run but they'll be powered down for the most part I'd have thought, along with everything else.

I realised this morning that my hopes of riding Spaceship earth one more time before it goes are now shot 😞

How many people here are working from home, or not working at all today?
My husband's boss just flew home to MA from FL before it got to a point that he would be unable to return. He IS laying people off. My husband isn't one of them, but his boss told him to take 2-3 weeks off because hubby is high risk due to heart issues. With me having to stay home to take care of our special needs boys for the last dozen years, this is not good. He's got a week of PTO he can take, and he's going to be doing some side work with people who aren't sick...but still not good.

Hubby's boss told him to apply for unemployment...but I'm not sure that's the right move, and I'm not sure anyone even knows what the right move is yet, or if people like my husband will be covered by any of the policies being passed.

I was wondering about situations like this. If you’re not laid off, but told not to come to work, then is it even possible to get unemployment... or would you have to technically leave your job to get it?
The latter could seriously mess up people’s benefit packages.

Sorry to hear that. I know some that their employers are cutting employee hours, removing folks off of schedules. When you hear to developing an emergency fund if one is out of work, many people for sure wish they had one, if that's possible.

I really don't know. And it didn't sound like his boss knew, either.

BUT...at least we know he won't fight it if hubby does end up having to apply for unemployment.

Ummm... actually... I never liked any mime act that used whistles "to talk." I understand it's meant to overcome the language barrier, but aside from initially gathering a crowd, the non-stop whistle was just darned annoying to me. The Chinese Acrobats never needed it.

Also, hate all all-drumming shows. The Japanese drummers and Jammitors could go away completely, AFAIC.

I'm with you on the whistles (I really enjoy the french waiter's routine, just not the whistle guy on the ground). But I love the drummers. Jammitors are probably my favorite streetmosphere act in WDW (though it Jack Diamond still around? I really like his magic acts, too).

Sorry for the off-topic post! Back ro your regularly scheduled virus talk.
