Did all 145 decide to party after work or something? How the heck did that happen?

Perhaps a store Christmas / holiday party? [Pure speculation on my part]
Many are asymptomatic since it was mass employee testing at the store that revealed the extent of covid-19 in the employees
Christmas party ala Dave Ramsey?

Maybe the greeter had it? "Hi Welcome to Costco"!

Chinese vaccines that were not purchased by USA, but is scheduled to be used in many countries (I root for all vaccines, but I like good trustworthy facts) :

Yes that comes to mind. The good news is :
Florida is one of the few states that has begun vaccinating people beyond the first wave of health care workers and long-term care facilities. The state has administered over 150,000 vaccines so far, more than all but Texas, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

But the state and localities should adapt to demand (and have expected it beforehand).

I know that a lot of seniors do not even know they are about to be able to be vaccinated. Someone I know is 80+ and working fulltime and is very interested in getting vaccinated, along with his wife. He found out how to register to get vaccinated in this county by me, not because the "system" informed him. (Registration is now open, vaccination for 65+ starts Jan 4). He had talked to his primary physician who thought the vaccines were not yet in this county.

Update: Reservations are now full for this county as well. Not sure if he and his wife made the call in time.,

I’m going to copy this post and show it to all the front line workers that have working tirelessly for months without a vaccine.
Did I ever say I was going to hold out indefinitely. No I did not. I said some were waiting including myself. Did I say I was an anti vaxer no I did not. I just got a Tdap last week.

im so tired of the self righteous indignant people on this board. Sitting behind their keyboards shaming other people. Thinking they are part of the solution when they haven’t done a darn thing.except bark at a computer.

There is no stay at home order in my state. There is no law that says I can’t go to the movie eat in a restaurant or travel to WDW.
Enough already.
Just because something is not illegal does not mean it is the right thing to do.

I’m guessing more healthcare workers would be bothered by one of their own constantly contradicting the overwhelming medical advice and concerns about capacity.

Without wading into the firing line to far here, honest question: What will you be waiting for? What do you believe could be your trigger to get it?

I’ve been putting out fires among friends and family for the last few weeks regarding the vaccines. There’s been extreme amounts of misinformation and distrust about the whole process. Many, like yourself, seem to be waiting for ‘something’, but when pressed don’t seem to be able to articulate what exactly they are waiting for. Like yourself, none of these people are normally ‘anti-vaccine’ by any definition... so this has been very baffling to me and I’m trying to figure out ways to at least appreciate where they are coming from.

At least a few million Americans have gotten it already with many more worldwide. We’ve heard reports of anaphylaxis in a handful of cases (a few hands full worldwide), outside of that I’m not sure what the issue is supposed to be. By now any other serious issue that pops up would be a 1 in 10M shot so incredibly rare.

I am more than willing to listen to what the issues are or the reasons to want to wait or not get it, but so far I haven’t seen any that are compelling to me personally. If the reason is simply because someone just doesn’t want to get it then that’s their right. When this came up earlier I was accused of not seeing the other side and being narrow minded but so far nobody has been able to explain to me what the other side is. What are the potential issues with the vaccine that would make someone want to wait?

This is HUGE in my area, too. Our community Facebook "curbside dining" group has over 11,000 members looking for dinner ideas . . .
I believe it’s bringing out the best in the thinking of restaurant owners. We need to change and how do we do it is the question most are dealing with. Communities are stepping up to help local businesses. It’s a win-win. Not only that, you will see some of these changes when the “ normal” comes back. A lot of people are going to be changing the way they do things.
Not to beat a dead horse as I’ve said before.. my friend who owns a sandwich shop told me even without his indoor dining he’s doing better then before Covid. He adjusted early. Neighborhood rallies around him and he is loving it.
Not saying all can do it but keep a open mind.. make some changes and it can work for a lot.

My posts were not removed.

Unless you are a hermit, they are not low. I'm honestly not concerned about you specifically but those who cannot get the vaccine and need all to comply. I did this trial to save all lives. Think about your choices and how they affect beyond you.
This here is a great sentiment. I can’t vaccinate until my baby is born but I’m very excited to see others get it as it makes me feel safer and I only have 3 months left, I can’t imagine people with more serious conditions who can never get it or not for a long time. My medical team is getting vaccinated in the next month. I would be horrified if they were turning down that option and putting patients at risk.

That’s what I’ve been observing in my area as well. It certainly appears that the local restaurants around me are doing great business.

But who am I kidding.. it’s destroying the economy and we really should sacrifice grandma for the greater good right?

Big hugs to you. I hope you stay safe while pregnant. Yes, it's for those who cannot that I want all to get for. It's for those who cannot in the end, not those who can.

Thank you! I don’t worry about what we choose to do but worry about my work. I teach and our community spread is very high without any pausing or slowing down. So just have to hope for the best from humanity.. my best friend going into nursing got a part time job at a rehab and got to have the vaccine. So there are def people ready to fill in nursing jobs etc if others don’t take the virus seriously. But from what I’ve seen the attitude of people in the medical profession here (MA) is more like how quick can I get it than let’s go to Disney World but skip the vaccine.

Among my medical worker friends the willingness to get it is huge. In fact a relief to most. They are already doing dentists here which makes me happy. Thank you for teaching. I have a huge thanks to teachers (obviously along with frontline wokers). The attitude here is mostly positive towards the vaccine though I'm in a major city.

My main concern is more for my 12yo when they make it available for children. We ended up in the ER because her leg swelled enough to have pants cut off last time she had DTap & MMR at 9. They aren't sure which caused it because both were in the same leg. So that does make me a bit nervous but hopefully doctor will actually be held accountable to the observation period still.
I wasn't even aware there should be an observation period when someone gets a new shot until I read it here because in 12 years of my daughter receiving shots not once have we been told to wait. It was hurry up get the shots, here's the door, get the crying kid out of here.
For myself I don't know if anaphylaxis from penicillin counts as a yes or no. So till I get an answer from that I can't say what I'll do. I'm not going to take up my doctor's time getting an answer till it reaches my group anyway.
I've heard people at work (not healthcare) say they won't get it simply because they are healthy so it won't kill them if they get covid. There are also plenty who say they are immune since they already had Covid.
Then there's conspiracy theorists like my bio-father (not my step-dad I talk about alot) who truly thinks it's poison. He also thinks the government is covering up a newly discovered planet coming into the solar system that is causing the polar caps on Jupiter and Saturn to melt right now. So pretty far out there.....
