Sigh. I am not doing ok today y’all. I know I’ve been all ‘me me me’ and I promise on a normal day I’m not so self absorbed but I’m just TERRIFIED about the future.

So today they told my husband he’ll be working 2 days a week (paid for 5). He will be switching back and forth with his other leader peer. The crew will be working 1 day a week (paid for 5). Managers will be 2-3 days. This is til the end of March presumably.

So anyhow... he’s talked to a few peers and they all seem to think they’ll be paid til whenever Disney opens and that there will not be lay offs (at least in his department/job title) and if there are he’s high enough up in seniority that they won’t get to him. Furthermore his coworker was saying his speciality costs too much to retrain (licenses, special training for pyro and what not).

I go through feeling ok and not feeling ok. I know it’s not all about me and that others are scared too 😖
That is a nice perk. Crew working 1 day a week, paid for 5. Only at Disney!

This is the article I first saw "earlier rather than later": https://www.livescience.com/coronavirus-sheds-early-in-disease.html There is a link to the study, which was done by German scientists. The caveats are hasn't been peer reviewed yet, and small sample group. But Google coronavirus most infectious and you can find other news articles.

But I think I saw something else from Israel, based on the tests they've done on people coming into the country and placed in quarantine. And that one I don't remember where I saw it, and I can't seem to find it. And with the last thing about Israeli scientists, I don't know how accurate it is. This one actually said the higher rates of virus in their swabs were in the people that were still asymptomatic.

So I did find the 2nd article. It was actually a 2nd German study testing patients who had returned from Israel not an Israeli study. But the research showed higher viral load in the a symptomatic patients.

Forgive my ignorance I don't know all the financials, but I constantly see people joke that CP = Cheap Labor, why would Disney be losing the most money on them? If that's true then why would you refer to them as Cheap Labor? They don't have benefits comparable to full time employees, I have to imagine Disney spends more money on their full time employees to keep them happy and ensure they stay with the company and thus they would be the ones Disney is losing the most money on them. And it wouldn't even be "losing" money (or "loosing" according to you) it would be wisely spending the money to keep people that have become experienced and thus assets to the company. My friend works for Disney full time in costuming and I can not imagine they would spend less money on her than they would on a DCP student.

Because they are cheap labor when things are good. CPs are more than just positions in the four theme parks. They are Photopass, Resorts and Disney Springs Springs and assisting backstage positions that can be cut. When the economy of travel takes a hit(and of course this is so much bigger), they will save money by not needing as many. Not needing as many means they will not be making a profit on their housing. So then they can trim the housing staff to keep all of the complexes open and save more money, then the third party transportation can be cut down to save more money. It can change again and likely will of course, but in the immediate it makes sense to help.

No
With the CP shuttered, ans now entertainment has been let go. How long until we see the first round of hotel shutdowns?

You are aware that college kids all over the country have been told go home / leave campus. There are a number of foreign students from Asia and Europe that may not go home so easily due to their affected countries. Hopefully someone will show them some 💓 and give them a place to stay.

You are aware most college campuses are saying dorms are closed but if you cant leave, talk with the dean and you will be allowed to stay, right?

If the colleges are shut down I would imagine the college cafeteria is also shutdown which would present a problem to any students remaining on campus --where do they eat

Coronafever has even impacted the car dealer/service industry. I got a generic email from my dealer that they are offering free pick up/delivery of my cars to my home for any type of service to include disinfecting of cars. That has never happened before.

Source on that?

The notices sent from colleges. Here are 2 (sorry, not going to find dozens for you, you can find more as needed).

Bowling green:
We are strongly encouraging our residential students to return to their permanent homes. However, for some of our students, the best place for them is at BGSU. Thus, we are committed to honoring each student's contract if they wish to stay in our residence halls.

Ohio state:
e understand that there will be exceptions and extenuating circumstances. We will work with students who are not able to return home during this time period on an individual basis. Residence halls and some dining locations will remain open during this process

My husband is full time hourly and part of the Union 💔💔 . Do you think he could still be safe? when they let people go in 2008 it was mostly salaried managers.
Consider your husband fortunate for now. Two great entertainment acts at Epcot will end this Sunday, the Japan drummers and British Invasion at UK. Their contracts were not renewed.

Not sure what's happening at other grocery stores, but I found out when I went in for my shift this morning that my Kroger's grocery deliveries for Saturday and Monday were cancelled. Today is pending.
Edit: and when I say deliveries I mean the store itself is not receiving any products today, and can at best expect a very limited amount of new product tonight.

Stores open 24 hours in my area have now started closing at night so they can restock. Only chance they get.

You are right that there is a "BIG difference" between 96% and 4%. I also don't follow social media and I also hardly ever watch the news. Are you denying that 96% of people who get this will survive it? That's a very simple question. You are INSISTING that 4% WILL die so what will happen to the other 96%? If you said 15% will wind up on a ventilator then what percentage will NOT based on that math? My calculator says 85% has to be the logical conclusion. I'm just curious as to how you're doing the math.
Good day sir...........

They do. This is completely unprecedented and I’ve already mentioned they may not reopen all 4 parks when they reopen.

We probably won’t see 2 water parks open all year. I’m guessing some resorts will be mothballed as well.

You are ridiculous. It’s people like you who are part of the problem and why this is has become a media circus and we have no toilet paper. There’s no way hotels will be “mothballed” and they will leave the water parks closed in the summer in Florida. You know you can’t get clicks in a forum, right?

Why is it ridiculous to think Disney would utilize strategies they have used in the past?
