Consider your husband fortunate for now. Two great entertainment acts at Epcot will end this Sunday, the Japan drummers and British Invasion at UK. Their contracts were not renewed.
Contracts not renewed before or after all of this?

These Disney College program kids are ridiculous! They are posting gofund me pages asking for donations. Im confused, you get college credit and some may have gotten refund checks.

We have some pretty good guides based on countries that have been dealing with this already. We aren't special.
True, we can look at the foreign parks for a guideline on how long things could be closed, but it’s not exactly the same since each government has had a different response. That and none of the parks has actually re-opened yet, even though some look close.

This goes much deeper than just Disney. This is impacting vendors as well. Think of all the companies that supply Disney with various things (napkins, condiments, straws, - little things). In many cases these companies don't have the deep pockets like Disney. Disney ain't buying right now. Neither is anybody else.

Agree and all these supply companies and off site hotels, restaurants etc still have Florida property taxes to pay. Any talk on Florida giving a tax break

We are probably wasting our time trying to get some people to understand the problem with the themeparks are minor compared to everything else. Disney themeparks, Universal. Seaworld, Cedar Fair, Six Flags and all the other smaller themeparks are facing major losses this year. Their employees and vendors will be hurt. The surrounding communities will be hurt. States and localities will lose tax revenues. The Federal Government will lose tax revenues and spend more. Local taxes will have to go up or employees cut. So. anyone who thinks their Disney and or Universal vacations will not see cuts is crazy.

This is a WDW site so the opinions are biased towards the impact on Disney. Listening to news programs or the rest of the internet Disney is just a throw away line when they list stuff that’s closed. ...”the NBA season is suspended, MLB has postponed the start of the season, Broadway is dark, even Disneyland is closed”

How do you tax people more who aren't working which means local services will be stretched to the limit or reduced

Right now we’re in a fog due to lack of testing. If we had gotten ramped up like S. Korea we may have parts of the country under strict quarantine and parts relatively unaffected. This has led to a probably necessary over reaction. The second unknown is how our national and state governments will respond to increased N once testing is ramped up. Ideally, we find out it’s not a big deal in most areas of the country. I don’t think this will be the case at this point because our batting average (positives/number of tests) is too high. Fingers crossed that we’ll still get lucky. If N is high once we can do a lot of tests, you could see a response where there’s a lot more self quarantining for testing positive and things open back up or there are some areas where the elderly are isolated and everything else is OK or the asymptomatic cases are common enough that we’re in a truly unprecedented landscape. I think in 2-3 weeks we’ll have a lot better idea of what the next few months hold. It’s going to be hard no matter what. My 99 year old grandma loves visitors and is going crazy. My worry wart 16 year old son is freaked because his SAT was cancelled and he doesn’t know when it will be made up. The accelerator in my lab is broke and I have to come in and essentially be a mechanic. We’re racing to get it fixed before we’re told not to come in. We’re all dealing with this and all we can do is support each other. I doubt as a society we’ll pick the best response. I also doubt we’ll pick the worst. Let’s hope we trend as close to best as possible.

Actually, I find this forum and thread the most informative for Coronavirus and news. The people in this thread are quick to post any updates or tips and information comes here at the speed of light.
Agreed. And while the demand for reliable sources under normal circumstances can seem tiring, under these circumstances it's nice to know when people say something and post a link, chances are pretty good that the information is solid.

I’ve learned a few things too. Plus it passes the time;)

I was referring more to the discussions around the economic impact. It makes sense that CMs and frequent visitors are more concerned about the fate of Disney parks than the average American.
