You'd think word of antibiotics not working on viruses would have spread by now...I've known that since my oldest was a baby, and he's 14 now.

Didn't help that pediatricians over prescribed them for a period of time. Got an ear infection, here's a prescription of amoxicillin.

I get Springs staying open but why keep the resorts open if the parks are closed? I imagine most everyone that had a trip planned between March 16 through the end of March isn’t going to come down and do a resort only stay.

Guess I could see them trying to entice locals to do a staycation at cheap rates??
They are phasing out the hotels. They can’t make 100,000 people scrambling to change plans at MCO

Yeah...if memory serves, it was my generation they did that with...us Gen-Xers.

Millennials too. Everytime my daughter had an ear infection, she got a prescription for an antibiotic. I had an ear ache as a kid? My mom heated up a little pillow she had made and filled with salt and wrapped it in a wash cloth for me to lay my head on. Felt sooo good.

Even if COVID-19 rate is 1%, that's 10 times higher than the seasonal flu.
Which is what H1N1 ended up being after an initial estimate of around 10%. I know, I know...I’ve said this all before. Again, testing for H1N1 stopped as there just weren’t the resources available. People were told to assume they had acquired H1N1 if they showed the symptoms and not to seek medical attention unless there were certain circumstances. H1N1 is today endemic.

Look, I know there are significant differences between the two, so no need to imply I’m saying they are the same...but there are also some significant similarities and it’s all something to keep in mind.

Two different viruses with two different incubation periods.

I'm surprised by the amount of people that want antibiotics for EVERYTHING.
Antibiotics ONLY work on bacterial illnesses NOT on viruses they are two completely different animals. Over use of antibiotics has lead to rampant bacterial resistance to antibiotics. I did a study years ago on the bacterial resistance of E.coli found in dolphins I was shocked at the level of resistance to a wide spectrum of antibiotics. Animals in the wild never given antibiotics

I'm an artist and regularly paint with stinky enamels and use turps and laquer thinner...I've got at least one or two packages around here somewhere.

Paint fumes triggered migraines. So I had to paint on a day I could open up all the windows in the house. Along with wearing a mask.

I remember an oil (? medicated) that my mother warmed (just a little by setting in it a glass of warm tap water) and then she used a medicine dropper to put it in, followed by a cotton ball into my outer ear to keep it from leaking out. It was not unusual to see kids in school with cotton balls in their ears!

Or given a shot of the “special” medicine kept in the “special” cabinet at bedtime. The good old days.

I remember that from when I was super little!!! When my boys were small I asked my mom what it was and she couldn't remember.

My mother was given daily doses of cod liver oil... :hungover:
