Yeah... but a viral outbreak doesn't affect the water supply. If you have bad tap, it stays bad. If you have good tap, it stays good.

Understand and agree. I guess I'm thinking a little off topic. I always drink tap and in general tend to avoid bottled water, however after Flint I just think it is smart to have some on hand. Hoarding water for the virus is silly.

That mortality rate is skewed by fatalities at one location. It won't be that high in the US obviously. Not downplaying the seriousness but panicking people isn't productive.

That mortality rate is based on the number of reported cases vs deaths. It will go down as more cases are identified, but CDC is saying the mortality rate of COVID-19 will exceed that of seasonal flu, which is 0.1%. Even if COVID-19 rate is 1%, that's 10 times higher than the seasonal flu.

I would consider delaying your trip, as you're pregnant. You can call the help number for annual passholders and ask - you'll find it on the passholders section of the WDW website. I would, though, wait for a week or so as they're pretty swamped right now.

Congratulations!
Yeah we've already told the kids we probably won't be able to go....Im holding out a glimmer of hope but we aren't going to take any unnecessary risk. Thank you! We were hoping to have a nice mother's day down there before this on comes in August lol

Crazy is the people who only drink bottled water thinking its safer than tap*, and that's why they're hoarding it.

*Yes, there are municipalities with bad city water or their wells have gone bad. They're a small minority and they know who they are.

EPA regulates potable water that cones out of your tap. USDA regulates that bottle of Dasani Disney sells for $5. Think about that. I worked for my state's environmental agency, 5 years in water resources. Unless the water system has recognized problems, like Flint Michigan, that water coming out of your tap has been tested regularly to meet EPA standards, plus your provider is required to provide annual water quality reports to its customers. That bottle of water on the grocery shelf? Not so much...and lord know how long it's sat on the shelf.

I have a filtered water pitcher to remove those chemicals that make tap water unpleasant for some. Plus my water is very hard and I'd be cleaning my electric kettle daily to remove the mineral deposits. I also have a filtered water bottle I bring into the parks because, yes, Disney's water has that funky smell.

The ONLY time I buy bottled water is if it's hurricane season or I'm thirsty when I'm out and about.

I was supposed to be on the Dream today for a 3 night cruise, so I understand your sadness.

Lowes is also a good place

That too. And for getting masks. I realized I have a good supply of N95 masks from Lowe's as I use them when I'm doing yard work that kicks up a lot of dust and dirt. Or when painting as I'm very sensitive to paint fumes.

So I'm ready if the apocalypse comes. 😉

Reposting from another thread:

At present, it is expected that WDW will close longer than two weeks but they weren’t lying--they will continually re-evaluate. I was led to believe Memorial Day is an optimistic estimate with the caveat that we truly have no way of knowing how this disease will spread, the impact of nationwide efforts, and the eventual development of herd immunity, which will finally put this to bed, optimistically, in a year.

These next few weeks are critical.
