Seems like whenever there’s a new outbreak or the first wave continuing or possibly a start of a second wave, there’s always the sentence..” it’s because of negligence “. Sad state when we can’t all try and stop this as best we can.

My state just had its first ever shark attack. It was near a beach that we just visited so I think 2020 is just going to fully suck.

My state is small, fairly locked down and our case numbers still wildly fluctuate There's no rhyme or reason. My state also allows 200 people to "gather". Parties are literally the most risky thing to me because you're not hanging out temporarily. It's drawn out and usually maskless. I'll take Disney any day over that.

You know what's funny?
Let’s not take the victory lap on cases yet either...3 days under 10K cases could be the start of a good trend but 4 and 5 days ago it was still over 12K. I hope it continues to drop, but like you said...we will see.
Yeah. I’m not taking any victory lap. The week and two week trend are for cases are moving in the right direction at least. Hopefully this continues.

Found out today that my kid’s schools will be going full virtual for the first marking period. They had a plan to offer both physical and virtual as a choice, but there was a lot of uncertainty around whether the governor would allow the physical option. The district chose full virtual so they have plenty of time to prepare teachers and students on how the new online system will work. I am disappointed this happened, but we have seen a mild uptick in cases recently and the trend wasn’t moving the right way. A large number of recent cases in my state have been traced back to people who traveled to hot spots. Obviously the travel restrictions that require a 14 day quarantine aren’t being followed in all cases. So I hope the trips to Myrtle Beach and FL were worth not having schools go back...not that most of the people doing that really care :(
I know its tough now, but hopefully in a year or two we will look back on this time and think of how quickly this year went.

Yeah, it’s not the end of the world, we will figure it all out. I was holding out hope that if our cases continued to trend down that we would have been able to successfully open schools and get some classroom time in. I knew once November hit and cold and flu season was in full effect it was likely to shut down anyway but I was hoping they got a few months in. Maybe they will get some time in this spring if there’s a breakthrough in treatments or god willing a successful vaccine.

So our governor has said we would let school districts make their own decisions on how to reopen schools. Yesterday (after all summer of deliberating, surveys, etc.) our district rolled out their reopening plan (a hybrid model). Today, the county board of health rescinded the schools plan and put us in remote learning.

Whether you feel hybrid or remote is the correct decision, the way this came off is a complete cluster. Talk to each other, guys! This was not a surprise announcement by the school. And now all the kids parent that had been told one thing and started planning have had the rug ripped out from under them (my daughter's best friend was in tears).

I know this whole pandemic has been a large exercise in government incompetence, but this local example really drove that home for me.

Something similar happened to us. District came out with three options, one being in-person. Then after the fact, the county decided in person couldn’t start until after September 28th.

Seems like a good solution. Made no sense to have two bystander teams both sitting not playing, while in the same division.

Hopefully the Phillies continue to test negative and the Marlins, well, it looks like we'll see their AAA team soon.
What’s the difference:)
