Sadly I think the Feds will need to intervene and force a lockdown to get the numbers where they need to be.
That’s not going to happen. It’s pretty much the exact opposite. If the numbers are going to come down in FL it’s going to be on the backs of the local governments setting restrictions which is not an ideal way to setup rules, but it is what it is.

We've seen how well that's working for them. Seeing so many people die from this that didn't need to cause you rushed to open up everything makes me angry. Seeing the people justify it blows my mind.

Opening the theme parks was a HUGE mistake.

The theme parks are a model of mitigating risk. If Disney is forcing you to wear (the right kind of) mask and social distance and accepting reduced profits for the sake of reduced capacity, then that's a lesson for everyone.

In NJ, as much as we're doing a good job now in controlling COVID, I see more compliance with doing the right things in WDW than here in a state with low transmission.

If WDW should close down, then FL should go to full lockdown shelter-in-place.

Rather, every place in FL should be doing what WDW is doing, under penalty of law.

The First Care clinic is open to everyone but appointments required and about a week out, results about a week out.
What's the goal of test like that? It seems rather pointless.

So, you decide you need a test for whatever reason, perhaps exposure or some symptom. You schedule it for 6 days from now, and get the results back 6 days later, 12 days after the need for a test was determined.

Do you have to isolate for the entire 12 days? If so, isn't that the same as if you were positive on the first day?
If you don't isolate for the entire time, is contact tracing needed for everyone you exposed over 12 days before the result if it's positive? That seems untenable.

Disney is doing the best job they can to mitigate potential risk. In general I don’t think anyone should be traveling in or out of a hot spot for non-essential stuff. Disney can’t control what is happening in the rest of the state so it’s not a knock against them. If we are serious about trying to control the spread of the virus there should be less movement into and out of hot spots. Way back in April when the re-opening guidelines came out, out of state domestic travel was not part of the initial phase of re-opening. Nobody can seriously argue that any of the current hot spots are in better shape than what you needed to get to phase 1 of re-opening. There’s a big disconnect here.

I agree that their measures should be followed state wide. I disagree with them being open. It has to do with getting people from out of state to come visit when Florida is a hot spot right now. As safe as Disney and Universal is, you still have to travel to get there. All states should be pushing people to take staycations and visit attractions in their own state.

It is unreasonable to me. Yes people are always directed to self isolate fro.the time you request a test until the results come back. At the same time, not sure how many follow that requirement until the results come back actually positive. And because resources can't be "wasted" tracing before results it just creates the cycle we are in IMO. Then I don't know what protocol is for quarantine to be lifted around here if you are positive. Require 2 negative test results, 14 days since symptoms or test, when symptoms are gone ect? I've read different protocols

It’s a harsh reality. WDW and Universal will survive but some other stuff may not. We will likely also see a major decline in new projects for a little while until things stabilize.
I know they called a bunch of people back and then called them to tell them not to come in, that they’d remain furloughed. When/if they extend benefits, Floridians will only get $475/wk which isn’t enough to live on... I don’t know what those who are still furloughed will do!

@rowrbazzle what's so funny? Its exactly what they are doing here. Doing reminders doesn't work, you throw the book at few and people listen

Canada can do its thing, but I can't see that ever flying in the US. Places are barely getting by with mask mandates that don't even have punishments. The idea that municipalities will start fining individuals $100,000(!!!!) for having people over to their house is laughable. I'm pretty sure our Constitution wouldn't allow it anyway.

$475/wk is more than most Disney cast members make.
That's true. And some believe it or not work in other places and only make $9-10 per hour and not even getting 40 hours a week of work and still survive. The $475 per week is to some a raise in pay.

You can have parties here but it has to be under 50 people. Anyone having a party with more then that can be charged. Maybe it's time to start punishing people so they understand.

I wonder if they will consider closing one park a day for some days once Sept rolls around and kids are back in school. I know they would lose the up sell to the multi-park ticket for Potter Lands, but at some point it may be better to save the cost of keeping both parks open but empty.

Thanks for clarifying the specifics for me. My position remains the same.
