According to TEA, Universal Studios Hollywood in 2019 drew 9.1MM people and Universal Studios Florida drew 10.7MM people. Sure, that's half the Magic Kingdom, but still a far cry from a "local's park" IMO.
For strictly theme park purposes Ive always said if I have a family and I live somewhere else and I have to decide to spend my money on taking a trip to Disneyland or WDW id pick WDW simply because there are in fact more parks and it wouldn't cost much more to travel to Florida than California.

But if I'm looking for a trip trip, where theme parks are just part of it, then CA.

In describing the CFR, he seems to be assuming that negative outcomes aren’t going to increase to match the curve, something we’ve seen in every single other spot that has seen an explosion of cases. The lag from positive test to negative outcome seems to be about 19 to 20 days in Florida because we are catching cases sooner. This week, we began to see the uptick in negative outcomes that matches the early stages of the rise in cases. Because we have been in the gap between positive test and negative outcome, of course the CFR will be lower. We don’t really have much reason to believe the two curves will suddenly deviate, although I certainly think and hope improved treatment will effect negative outcomes somewhat. As I’ve said before, citing a comparatively low number of negative outcomes at this point in the surge is a bit like the man who jumps off the Empire State Building and, as he passes each floor, announces, “So far, so good.”

Above I also noted that a few hours ago Rubio tweeted that Florida hospitals are running out of Remdisvir. New medication can’t help if no one can take it.

Georgia Tech built a "Risk Calculator." You can zoom in on your county (or pick one, say, Orange). And then you can use the slider on the left to pick the size of your gathering to see what the percentage is of someone in that gathering having COVID.

For Orange County, FL. In a group of 10, there is a 46% chance of one person being infected. In a group of 25, there is a 79% chance. Group of 50, 95% chance.

Universal Orlando has at 7 major hotels just in their immediate area. Looks like tourists stay there also to enjoy what Universal, their water parks and City Walk has to offer.
I've been to Universal a few times and the resorts and parks were always packed. I rarely go to WDW without adding on three nights at a Universal resort. I know cruising isn't happening at the moment, but they also have a package partnership with Royal Caribbean. I agree with you that Universal is not just a local park. Why would they keep building resorts if it was?

Universal is more of a locals park for those who make it a destination (ie we will go to Universal for 2-3 days). It's less of a locals park when you start factoring in people who are in town for other reasons but decide to tag on a visit for 2-3 days at one of their resorts (ie 4 days at Disney with 2 at Universal, or a quick stop before a cruise, etc).

I'm an out-of-towner and Universal is my destination park - WDW gets one or two days every other trip or so.

But this is all sort of silly. Disney is a pop culture behemoth interwoven into the fabric of American - and world - history. Comcast is a big company. Ask people who owns Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar. Now ask them who owns Illumination, Dreamworks, Fast and Furious. Ask people to tell you facts about Walt Disney. Now ask for facts about Carl Laemmle. Think about the internationally recognized icons associated with Disney - Mickey Mouse, the castle, Tinkerbell. Universal has... the monsters? Who don't even have a land or ride in a Universal Park and can't kickstart a film franchise? The most prominent aspect of Universal is the Harry Potter lands, and Harry Potter isn't a Universal production!

Disney gets more blame because its Disney - no other company even approaches it in the pop culture zeitgeist.

Think for yourselfer

We were quoting them before....

I agree we need them open, however it needs to be up to the local authorities. Wyoming is different than say, Florida.
Nah. It’s not. It’s a far greater health risk for kids to be out of school then in it. Open the schools. Do not ask the youth of this country to sacrifice their education and emotional development. It’s wrong.

Edit to add....

“Slams trump” aka says he shouldn’t withhold funding from schools. 🤦‍♂️

Argue with him, go find him on twitter and tell him he’s an idiot.
