You know what's funny?
The vast majority of cases have been in the last couple weeks which is still a within the "can infect others" period. It's still a terrible number when you look at big crowds like Disney.

thats fine. But you’re post was still misleading.

you said 1 in 100 have COVID. Which is false. You should have said 1 in 100 have or have had COVID.
Nearly 1 in 100.

And Unfortunately Florida does not publish the number of people recovered (as is mentioned in the article) so we have no way of acruately knowing how Nearly.

A valid point. Here’s some quick math. In the last 2 weeks FL has seen roughly 100K new cases. That’s about half a percent of the population. Not everyone stays sick and contagious for the full 14 days but not everyone who is sick has tested positive either. No way to quantify the totals for either of those so I’ll call it a wash and say roughly 1/2 of one percent of the population is actively infected. There are roughly 70,000 CMs at WDW. Assuming they are sick at the same rate as the rest of the state that’s 350 sick CMs. Some of the infected have probably tested positive and are “off duty“ quarantining. Not every CM has direct contact with guests, a large percentage are behind the scenes. The guest facing CMs should all be wearing masks too. These are just some facts and stats. I’ll let others decide if that’s a lot of risk or not too much. I think both sides could argue it effectively depending on their individual circumstances.

Even setting aside "should they even be reopening right now", just seeing the pictures of what it'll be like is actually pretty depressing to me. Don't get me wrong: if they're really gonna do this, I'm obviously glad they're doing it with a ton of extra precautions. But all that and having to wear a mask in zillion-degree Florida summer weather is just not something I am interested in experiencing. I hope anyone who does go stays safe. It's going to be a good long while before I'm personally ready to go back.

This whole thing has been so depressing. I so wish things had played out differently. :(

For me it's the images of cast members waving through their masks AND plastic face shield that I can't get out of my head... Just makes me feel bad. I still want to go at some point, but I cringe inside whenever I see that.

Nothing I‘ve seen so far makes me feel like cancelling my August trip was a mistake. It’s still sad to think about it and my kids are getting older (13 and 10) so there‘s some regret about losing a year while they are still “kids”, but we will be back and hopefully when things get back to the real normal...not this new normal everyone keeps talking about.:)

It's a little jarring at first but it's not so bad. Humans adapt fairly quickly, I've already gotten used to it at Universal and Springs. It's just a little cloth, there's still people under there :)

I'm not talking about the mask.. I'm talking about the face-shield. I feel a little bad for them.

Couldn't they just serve some hotdogs or sell chips or something? Or does a bar need a different license to be able to sell any food?

A bar at Jax Beach (this was in April I think) when we went was just giving chips and salsa for a $1 with every drink order. (it was outside window service)

Now they were connected to a pizza place so I don't know if that is how they were allowed to do it, but the chips and salsa were mandatory to get if you wanted "just drinks".

Not sure if you could not be connected to a restaurant and do the same and get away with it.

"It's a salsa bar now that is also a regular bar"

I could be wrong, but I thought some breweries in northern California were able to partner with food trucks. I'll have to look into what the rules are now.

Different license, different inspections and different hands in the pie looking for fees.

Fun fact, true all liquor bars are the only place (other than the casinos) in Florida you can smoke indoors.
