I don‘t have a whole lot of sense left anymore, but I agree with this. WDW has a much better plan and much more restrictions than some bar in a college or beach town. That being said, I’m sure in the boardroom of TWDC (probably a zoom meeting) they are very concerned that an outbreak linked to WDW is front page news as @oceanbreeze77 said. The fear isn’t really legal liability, but a hit to the reputation of the parks as being safe and family friendly. Not saying that’s a reason to delay, but if they open during a spike in cases and an outbreak is linked to them it does make it seem even worse.
Disneyland really suffered for quite some time with the Measles outbreak and the headlines that came from it

I don't disagree about gyms but only because I don't belong to one. I should though lol. Other people really depend on it for their health and goals.

Bars are clearly risky if distancing is impossible and I don't care about them because I don't drink but the owners care. I just feel like letting small businesses collapse while others thrive is depressing. There's gotta be a way darn it.
There were generations of people who didn’t need gyms, spare me that please.

I don't see any social distancing here at all. It looks like a normal busy day opening. Wonder what will it look like in Florida and the fact that this country has the most cases.

Looks like this is "rope drop." A tiny bit on the congested side for today's times but looks like people are still several feet away. After they get down Main Street I would expect everything to space out considerably.

I have lots of sense! Maybe there's a sense translation issue, since my common sense says WDW should be able to open today with the over the top measures in place to slow the spread. A casino with slot machines can open, but Disney is too dangerous.

Then I suppose common sense should tell you those casinos shouldn't be open either I hope.
I'll revert back to some childhood quotes we all know and love ....

"Two wrongs don't make a right".

And

"Monkey see monkey do".

Monkey (company) sees one company carelessly/ recklessly putting its customers at risk...so the company (monkey) does the same.

It doesn't make it right...and no...it doesn't make sense.

Or, to take it down a different line of thought.... both businesses can be open with appropriate measures in place and the large increase in cases is from private parties and similar events. Not theme parks.

How could you possibly know where you got COVID. CM's have lives outside of work. I work on a COVID unit and only two of our staff have gotten it and they are both under 25, single and I suspect have active social lives. They had an outbreak at my husband's workplace. No one blamed it in on the employer. How could you?

Disney has made it very clear to the guests that they are not responsible. Hopefully, they have trained their staff well. At least 10 times during my shift I have to sign a waiver that I don't have symptoms and that if I'm found to be lying I can be terminated.

I'm on your side but I do get where the logic is coming from. PR is very important for a park like WDW and if you are to believe right now is a terribly bad time to open, than it would make sense to delay. However, everything has been so contradictory and flip flopping regarding what can be open and what type of situation is worst for transmission that, in my mind, it is clear out of all the places that could be open Disney is taking it more serious than most.

I'm asking this from a genuinely apolitical and sincere point of view. Why exactly is it so unpopular to draw a connection to cases from the protests? It's literally one of the most recent overwhelmingly significant gathering of people. Nothing even comes close to comparing to those numbers of people everyday and still ongoing. Why has it become controversial to wonder why those crowds are not being considered? People keep saying masks and outdoors but there were many cities where people were shouting at close range with no mask on.

No offense but the media has become unreliable and our leaders inconsistent. We have had government officials admit on camera to overcounting positive cases. I don't know if it's a rumor but Diblasio was allegedly telling contact tracers not to ask about protests.

This is not a political question either or shouldn't be. I suspect politics are embedded in this but any American should be interested to know why the protests are exempt from investigation. Why aren't we even curious about why the media is looking for anyone besides the protesters as a cause? Covid is still mostly buried in favor of protest coverage. How can we ignore the elephant in the room even if most of us believe the protests are a right? It still could be causing surges.

I find it highly suspicious that these protest crowds aren't leading to infections. It wasn't long ago people were arrested for surfing. I feel like I've stepped into a new dimension.
If the protests were to blame for the spike in numbers, you would see the numbers going up in places like Minneapolis

If the protests were to blame for an increase in numbers, you would see spikes in those places where the protests were like Minneapolis, Louisville, New York, and Seattle. The areas with the drastic uptick in numbers are largely in states that have opened quicker than others.

Universal has been open for almost a month and I haven't heard of any bad PR. I would like to think people are smarter than to buy into the hysteria. Don't both parks have the media on their side NBC and ABC.

If you don't need a gym. What do you do for exercise? Or is exercise in general bad?

As an ex athlete and recent professional cheerleader who needed to always maintain a top physic.... there are thousands of ways to exercise out of the gym. Hiking and biking is a good start. Home workouts and basic equipment like resistance bands, free weights, and pull up bars if you're serious enough. Virtual dance classes and aerobics classes. I could go on and on. It starts with creativity, determination and will power.

Yeah, I get that, but the question wasn't directed at you. I also live in a state with an average high of 110 and a low of 90 so running in the Summer is just awesome. Rhabdo anyone? I'm a runner. I've done numerous marathons. Dancing around my house just doesn't cut it.

Sooooooo, to keep the circular argument going, if protests of thousands of people together didn't spread the virus, then there should be no question for wdw to open. BUT! I hear you thinking, "what about the indoor portions of the park - the protests didn't have that!" Well to that wonderful point I'll respond with indoor lines and rides are moving, not packed in one place in a bar.

I have a beer in hand, I'm ready for the circle of solid opinions.

I agree 100%! It really must be political to pick on Disney so much with parks around the world open.

I don't know what a circle of solids is, but it sounds like a conversation you would have when you've been locked down for three months and are losing your mind.
