I believe 90% of our population lives within 100 miles of the border. That might help contextualize it for you a bit more about why we are particularly well versed

Definitely you are correct. There is a certain notoriety up here about American’s ignorance of world politics. It has sustained a few different Canadian comedy routines And TV segments. Jimmy Kimmel is the American equivalent asking people on the street seemingly basic questions.

For better or worse there is a major discrepancy about how knowledgeable an average American is / the importance of the rest of the world. That isn’t shared by the other G7 countries at least.

To @legwand77 Florida is usually the most or second most visited state by Canadians. Despite being nowhere close to a border. Granted there are snowbirds. But we’re like Japan in terms of being strangely Disney indoctrinated.

Why did you tag me, think you got the wrong member.

Thanks. I was thinking the post was referring to Disney restaurants. Of course, the bars are closed. I just thought there was information I had not heard.
I think the person you quoted was referring to FL in general not specifically Disney. I haven’t heard of any of the DS restaurants closing or any of the places at the resorts that opened for the DVC guests last week. The Disney owned locations have a very strict policy including capacity limits, tables spaced 6 feet apart and masks for all employees plus masks for guests when they are walking around and not seated at their table. Basically everyone wears a mask except when guests are seated at their table (which is at least 6 feet from the nearest guest). If every bar/restaurant in FL followed that plan there wouldn’t have been a need to stop alcohol sales or close anything. Maybe the governor should borrow a page from the mouse’s playbook and mandate those rules statewide. :)

Is there nothing fun to do in Canada.
Just throwing this out there, but this site is run by a guy from England who visits the US regularly for vacations. It’s pretty common. WDW has about 20% of the their non-Covid attendance from international guests. The vast majority of them are from Canada and England (despite all the talk of Brazilian tourists Canada is first and England 2nd for intl tourists at WDW). Canada has a lot of stuff to do but it’s cold there. A lot of people from Canada go south for beaches and vacations. Also, most of the population there lives close to the US border in the southern parts of the country so an easy trip down.

Just will be glad to get away from arguing us/Canada socioeconomic comparisons in a few minutes when Fl will report new ‘record’ high cases and the usual post that always brings.

Other than playing golf not much.
I spent a week in AZ without picking up a golf club. I was with my wife so golf wasn’t really going to happen. We did visit that big hole in the ground you have out there and we were staying in Scottsdale which was a decent area. Driving in the desert was cool. The ballpark in Phoenix was nice. I guess if you live there and skip the tourist trap stuff its different.

I just dont understand how people can manage to minimize record highs. I mean, you've shared your opinions on it, but even when you put it up against other data, seeing these high numbers when they were completely avoidable is heartbreaking. Seeing record highs makes me so sad, sad as an American, and sad as a Human.

We are here now. So goal is get the cases to drop (limit the surges) and limit new deaths as much as possible. Leaders from the affected states seem to be taking efforts to do so. Hopefully the people do their part, as well as the CDC, etc.

Monday/Tuesday tend to be the drops (reflection of weekend testing).

Sunday generally is a reflection of testing on Friday, with an average 48h turnaround on results and reporting.
That comes tomorrow when they report on Sunday new cases.
Brain fart, I thought we were on Monday :banghead: Darn quarantine has my days all jumbled

I know where I live Wednesday is the big bump up day usually. People tend to be less likely to be tested over the weekend (they even closed our drive-thru testing location on the weekends now). Monday is a big testing day and the results come back Tuesday and get reported Wednesday.

If Arizona was my only vacation option I’d go to Sedona.

I know there’s a lot of stuff to do in Canada I’ve vacationed there four times. I was just curious why a Canadian couldn’t find a vacation replacement in their own country.
