You know what's funny?
No, you're right, young people are going out and having fun in huge numbers because it's summertime except for the young people whose paychecks read "Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, US, Inc." Those people are sitting at home playing Nintendo Switch in their N95s and not visiting any friends or relatives.
If this was a few years ago you could have said, “playing N64 in their N95s” and it would have been a lot cooler.

Or lamer...either way.

Well the Jacksonville one was questionable and still is to many. Since in your opinion bars are a major source then Disney should be fine to open.
They should, assuming they follow the plan. There are some inevitable indoor choke points at WDW but as long as the masks are required and enforced I think thats a big help. The problem with bars is there is no way to have a full bar and a crowded dance floor and require physical distancing and masks. Disney can do that at the theme parks for the most part by following the plan they laid out. It may turn out that they need to push back the opening due to the problems on the ground right now, but there’s no reason why theme parks should stay permanently closed until there’s a vaccine.

I think the yutes call it "playing the Switch" but I could be wrong cuz I'm old and not trying to act like I know what's going thru the minds of every young person during a global pandemic.

It's a question of whether we should focus on the numerator or denominator.

Scenario A: 999 people are fine, 1 person is sick.
Scenario B: 997 people are fine, 3 people are sick.

From the perspective of the population, you went from a 99.9% chance of being healthy to a 99.7% chance of being healthy... basically no change in your personal risk. From the perspective of healthcare workers, their workload just tripled.
and a relative look at the denominator for other diseases and causes of excess death which as a society we are completely fine with.

That’s a lot of people playing Nintendo. Isnt Disney the largest employer in the state.

Not all Cast Members are young.
Come on man, drive around your neighborhood for 30 seconds. Nobody outside of Online cares anymore. I live in Connecticut, which has arguably been the most strict state throughout this whole thing and people are having family over, cookouts, kids playing together, illegal tee ball practices, etc.

People are ready to live life again. They played nicely for three months and have now weighed the risks and have made their decision.

A very dear friend of mine has been sitting in her car in a hospital parking lot while her mom literally dies of cancer for two days and she's not allowed to see her. Not allowed to hold her hand and provide comfort in her last hours. Not allowed to say goodbye to the woman who raised her. That woman is going to die alone. Enough is enough, this has gone past "overkill" and it's now teetering on "evil and sadistic."

We don’t care about them anymore. We cared last month when they were at risk to commit suicidal from being on unemployment because caring about them then got us what we wanted. Now that their well being stands between Me and a dole whip too bad. If they are scared of a virus they can just quit. Nobody is forcing them to work there. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
This.

If they choose to stay home they should not be collecting unemployment. If they do they should the be quarantined to their homes. No bars or beaches etc.
Like my mom used to say if your too sick to go to school then your to sick to go outside and play.
I bet your fun at parties.

Sadly, very well put, it appears that some here don't realize how much activity is actually going on.

It will interesting if the hospitalizations continue to stay flat and deaths continue to fall, the posters actively seeking out the bad news and sharing, how many of them will post the good news with the same verve.
