This is a point I tried making to many people. Yes, our economy was suffering, but it was going to be worse if we didn't get control of the virus, and here we are. Apple is arguably the largest company in the world, they don't mess around with something that's a "hoax" and "a result of just testing."

I understand more closures are harmful, but at some point, what other options are there???
I made the same point about the NYSE...and Disney frankly...for shutting down in the span of what was 3 days back in March.

Trillions of dollars aren’t gambled on hoaxes.

It didnt take then...and we’ll get the same kind of nonsense spin if things go bad now too.

The problem is people have allowed to themselves to believe their opinions are interchangeable with scientific facts. And they never were.

The junior olympics was a "major announcement" also. I'm sure he'll talk about COVID but I just don't predict the "major announcement" to have anything to do with it.

I believe the one today was originally about signing a bill to raise teacher salaries.

ah the Apple theory of healthcare, best place to get medical advice, instead of doctors and the medical community. I mean I like their phones and all but...

I may be totally wrong but with those numbers, it’s got to be more then.. here’s our bad numbers.. result of more testing.. here’s some school vouchers. Could be wrong, have been before, we will see soon.

Why is the answer always to shut down places that aren't affected and taking above and beyond precautions? To keep it relevant, I haven't heard a peep about Universal doing badly. Theme park vloggers are going there every other day it seems. What's the problem with letting those who take it seriously stay open?

Disappointed with what?

It’s just curiosity. But the real question is what’s it like to downplay everything even when all the day’s news is bad?

Why not wait until you have something that goes with your agenda to celebrate?
Cognitive dissonance?

All the days news is not bad, I have no agenda, no matter how many posters here constantly try to erroneously put some kind of agenda on me. Not downplaying just sharing the facts, some don't like that for many reasons, but facts are facts. I also share my opinion and anyone can agree or disagree, no worries.

"Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday that the state is facing a “massive outbreak” in the coronavirus pandemic and that some new local restrictions may be needed to protect hospital space for new patients.

In a series of midday interviews with television stations, Abbott said Texas would again pass 5,000 new coronavirus cases and more than 4,000 hospital patients with COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus. Texas passed both thresholds for the first time Tuesday.

“There is a massive outbreak of COVID-19 across the state of Texas," Abbott said in an interview with KFDA-TV in Amarillo."

"There are some regions in the state of Texas that are running tight on hospital capacity that may necessitate a localized strategy to make sure that hospital beds will be available," he said.

Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, the largest pediatric hospital in the U.S. said Tuesday that it was admitting adult patients across its campuses to free up more hospital bed space in the Houston area. The number of COVID-19-positive hospital patients in Harris County, which encompasses Houston, has nearly tripled since May 31.

Even with the hint of new restrictions to protect hospital space, Abbott said in a separate interview with KDFM-TV in Beaumont that hospital executives have assured him that they will be able to handle the rising numbers of patients.

“If there are more people coming in with COVID-19, they will ensure that beds are available,” Abbott said."

It's a certainty that there are people who are covid-positive walking around Universal every day. That's something to give everyone pause, even if it doesn't mean shutting down.
