Ah, but can you get back into the US without going through quarantine?

I'm quoting myself, because the first case in RI was brought in from Italy. The whole family is in self-quarantine, and the state dept of health is trying to track down anyone who came in contact with the victim. I suspect that anyone else returning from Italy will be under closer scrutiny, and advised to self quarantine - for now.

There's been no evidence of an active response from the U.S. You can still travel to Italy, Korea, and Japan.

Once it gets to the U.S. (It has) There is not much stopping it. China is an authoritarian regime that can do what has to be done. The Chinese people are very disciplined and as such have been obliging to extremely invasive restrictions, which have decreased the rate of infection dramatically in China.

It will be next to impossible to get a response anywhere near the scale of China within the U.S, and in addition to that, thus far the government has shown that it is not taking the threat seriously.
I understand all that, but the facts show it’s not a huge problem in the US at this point. The fear and panic have been far worse than the virus itself. Let’s be serious.

Im not sure what our government or anyone can really do here other than banning travel.

Yep same here this morning, but several years ago they used to state due to flu season we would not "share" the peace by shaking hands for a good 4 months or so.....and its really not a bad idea. If I have a cold I inform others they don't want to shake MY hand per se.
Not too concerned about paper loss on my retirement accounts, if you have over ten years to go you're not touching it anyhow....hopefully! Here's to hoping and praying things get better sooner than later. :angelic:
Our priest does the same kind of thing. Every year, he explains that he is omitting the sign of peace from Mass due to it being cold and flu season.

However, what confuses me is that he still distributes Communion under both forms. Which, for those who are non-Catholic, means that you can receive in the form of bread but also in the form of wine, which in Catholic churches is taken from a shared cup. Now, I know that wine has alcohol which can kill many viruses and bacteria. But, still, if you're so worried about disease transmission that you don't want people shaking hands, why let them all drink from the same cup? After all, distributing from the chalice is optional in Catholic Masses.

That maybe the worst restaurant in the entire complex and you can always walk in - FYI

It’s also outsourced so it doesn’t shut itself down if there aren’t full reservations like the disney operates sites do
Never eaten there but was surprised at the usual lack of reservations popping up or diminishing as the day got closer, yet Nine Dragons still had a ton of availability.
If this gets out of hand they’ll shut down the parks. They did that in China and Hong Kong and don’t see why they wouldn’t do it here...
Disney is at the mercy of the Chinese and Japanese government for those closures. Closing Paris or the US parks would be very very drastic from a business standpoint.

I know a guy who got flu symptoms and was prescribed Tamiflu while on vacation in Italy in the affected area. The superspreader of COVID-19 in Italy was wrongfully diagnosed with the flu.

I am not saying the kind gentleman has COVID-19, but he was allowed to board a flight of hundreds, possibly infecting dozens. He was not placed under any kind of quarantined.

Hardly any meaningful measures are being taken.

I don’t think anyone was suggesting shutting DAK down on Tuesday...

But if there is a more wide spread pattern of cases, shutting down a Disney park is an option.

Do you understand what having anyone infected at one of their parks would do to them? In the longterm? It would be catastrophic...billions of dollars. If the network news was to show a mom who died from touching a railing at Magic kingdom?

My oh my....

It’s nowhere near that level but something I’m sure they have considered with their combat battalion worth of lawyers.

But banning flights ain’t gonna cut it either. I can’t believe you said that. That’s not how you contain a virus. You work with the international organizations to treat at the sources and frankly - scare the crap out of everyone so maybe extra precautions will cause it to play it self out as the medical field works 24/7 for countermeasures.

Oooh yeah I ponder that thought process....phew...being Lutheran we went from individual little cups to intinction....dipping individual wafers into common cup....NO double dipping!:angelic: Ha. One thing I love about many of the bathrooms in MK at least, are the doorless entries, the less things we have to touch the better!

Doorless entries, reminds me of crazy Food and Wine times at Epcot. I may have walked into the wrong restroom. 😕

Tokyo now too and whilst Paris is currently still open for now, they are monitoring the situation closely so wouldn't be surprised if they closed that too.

Corona virus scares me because our local economy is mostly based off of WDW. The ramifications will last for years. I've been unemployed for 1.5 months, and I'm starting my new job at Disney this week. I don't know what I would do if the parks shut down. Though, I'm starting in custodial so maybe they will increase our hours to minimize any spreading in the parks.
