Outdoor patios seating only will not be so trendy in FL when real time feel is between 95-100 degrees daily. I would be dripping with sweat and dripping into my food.
It would be temporary til cases go down again but I know it won't happen. The open for business sign is up and there's no going back. 😡

I think there are a few things in play here and one that should be highlighted is that young people, under 30, seem to think they are immortal. I know I thought the same thing when I was in college. The issue this time around is that they are contracting it, maybe getting sick for a few days and move on all while not realizing they are putting older people at risk in the process. You can clearly see this in the data, large number of cases, very little deaths/hospitalizations in the particular rise.

I think it’s Important to note that death can be fast after infected, but it can also take weeks of no symptoms, before severe illness. With it being a lot of young people getting positive results right now, in a few weeks deaths could rise again, or ICU numbers. It may just be more drawn out. We will have to see.

“From Infection to Recovery: How Long It Lasts”

From the article:

“Among those who die, the final outcome can come as quickly as two weeks after symptoms start, or up to eight weeks later. Add a possible 14-day incubation period, and the longest likely scenario, then, is 10 total weeks from the time of infection to a person’s death.”

So......stay tuned!!!!!

Just wait two more weeks! That mantra is getting really old

Doesn't matter what they feel, statistically they have a higher risk of death with the flu than covid . Yes I said the flu and that is an actual fact.

The current model on Covid act now is showing if all current restrictions were lifted completely today, hospitals still would not be overloaded. Obviously we don't want to do that at all but shows how much capacity is in place and yes it is a just a model.

You need to read the page more carefully, it say they would not be overloaded "in the next 30 days", but looking at the graph shows hospitals on track to be overloaded not long after the 30 days.

I couldn't agree more. In order to finally have dinner "with" my parents on Father's day (they are 76 and 80 both with some underlying conditions), I got takeout and we ate outside on their screened in patio with tables and trays set up so I was over 10 feet away from either of them. The heat and humidity was stifling even after 6:30 PM. My shirt was soaking wet. Not what I would call a very enjoyable meal except for finding a way to visit with my parents for the first time in three months.

Have 6 of the 8 days end of August into September but then got the olaf screen!!!!!!! Uuuugh this is something else. Every single guest checking-in after all this, especially those who've had to re-book and modify their trips countless times, should have Mickey personally escorting you to your rooms with gift baskets. Good grief!!

As long as he's 6 feet away...

Funny, when the number of verified cases go up, people say, "You have to look at percent positive!"

And now we're seeing the percent positives go up, you say, "But have to know how many people have it but haven't been tested.

Oh, this again.

When numbers are bad, find when the numbers were worse and then claim: "It's not as bad! The numbers when *down*!"

All the while ignoring the continuing rise in numbers that can foretell a new death spike.

So, are you really saying it's not so bad as long as it's not a bad as when it was the worst?

This is just another dodge to minimize the current situation, like those who try to compare it to other sources of death.
Lots of gymnastics there , not what i was saying at all.

Headline: Sharp Decline in Florida Coronavirus Cases

Story: There was a 40% drop in daily COVID-19 cases from Sunday to Monday. Over the same period, there were 9.4% fewer test run. Still, this is an indication that the concerns over the recent spike in cases was overblown.
-----------------
The data included above is real. I wrote it in a way to illustrate the opposite of the way the media reports on increases. I'll be holding my breath until a major media outlet reports the decline in that way. The new case positive rate was still 7.4% which is still of some concern.

For god’s sake...stop

There are established treatments for the flu. That’s the difference

Stop picking 🍒

And car accidents aren’t contagious...before we dust off that gem too.
Yes they have treatment but more people less than 30 die from the flu , even with treatments than covid. That is a fact. treataments don't matter if they are dead.

So true and good luck, tried that earlier, yours is better written. And BTW hospitalization capacity has increased in Florida.

Waiting for the YIKES posts for today ;)

The treatments aren't all that effective. I've been told by both a pharmaceutical executive and several doctors that Tamaflu is garbage and doesn't do anything. As I have stated before, my friend's daughter who was in her early 30s, in good health and not obese died from the flu in March 2019. She got sick, it got worse, she spent two months in the hospital and died.

As expected, a lower Sunday total announced today: 2,800

View attachment 478467

The number of tests was only 9.4% lower and the number of cases was 40% lower. It's not just because it was Sunday. The positivity for new cases was 7.74% vs. 11.87% Saturday. The drop isn't just because it was Sunday. It could be the spike is declining or it could just be the demographics of who was tested that had results Sunday. I'm not drawing a conclusion from one day.
