You know what's funny?
Was about to say... has the world ended now that everyone is wearing masks?

well. From what I understand, in China have more experience wearing masks in their day to day lives than the average American or Canadian. Pollution and all. But as I eluded to in a previous post, it seems it just takes some time getting used to. If WDW opens with masks required, people will need to decide whether they will be on board with going or not under that circumstance.

Getting used to it is the key. Throughout history western society has had to adapt to less then deal circumstance. To sacrifice.

Our ancestors hid in bunkers during air raids. They had to survive off rations. They dealt with blackouts. They did not have air conditioning (slight bit of humour but also kinda true).

We might have to wear masks for a while. We will survive.

Different set of circumstances...this isn’t WW2.

Our ancestors didn’t have to earn over $1,000,000 in a lifetime to make a decent living, work multiple jobs, compete for education...during that time hard work actually equaled results.

You can do everything right today (work hard, wear masks, be loyal), and still fall short or fail miserably.

I’m not discounting what they did, but your point is like saying our ancestors survived without cell phones. It wasn’t needed to function.

No, but wearing a face covering does not even come close to being difficult or hard.

The point is Some Americans are politicizing the wearing of masks and that’s just lunacy.

But this isn’t the right thread for this as it may get too
Political.

Masks to go to the grocery store or a doctors appointment. Yes, we can all do it for each other. Paying thousands to wear a mask in the sun and humidity in Orlando in the summer...I’ll pass. To each their own. :)

And we don’t even know if Disney would require it, the only point is.... if they do, don’t protest, don’t make it more then it is. Either decide to go, or wait until it’s not longer required.

I’m not referring to simply mask wearing...I agree that’s easy. I’m referring to the circumstances around it all - lack of childcare, layoffs, uncertainty around the economy, election cycle, retirement.

But again, what point is that even? Those people aren’t going to WDW and contemplating the mask issue.

If someone has the means to travel or visit WDW I would say they are fairing pretty well during the pandemic, and the mask is a minor annoyance if required.

It’s literally the biggest first world problem... “ I have the means to travel to a Disney park but if they require a mask the world is ruined and we will all die from the heat.“

It’s a ludicrous argument. I’d say their is a small segment of people who likely would not be able to wear a mask for health reasons, the rest are just being babies.

I guess I’m a baby then because there’s no way I’m paying thousands for a vacation to wear a mask all day in the sun. To each their own if others want to do it. I’m out :)

I by no means think you’re a baby. I think the ones who are going to go and then whine and complain and demand free stuff are babies. Or who will protest over a mask.

I think you’re a sensible adult who knows their limit and will just wait it out. I know thats what I’m doing when it comes to travel.

You use a nicer word than I would when you call those people babies ;). Everyone will know what the rules are and if you don’t want to follow then don’t go. I personally don’t think there’s a really good chance they require masks anyway. I still think they wait until phase 3 when most of the major social distancing relaxes to open.

The last time I went to WDW in the Summer. I sweated from places I didn't even know I had sweat glands. I don't know if wearing a sweat-drenched mask is feasible or safe.

Regardless of whether you think masks should be worn or not I don't think they'll be able to enforce and I don't think people will be able to tolerate it in the heat.

My partner and I discussed it today. “Oh look at the pricing for Mexico, all inclusive next March! So cheap.” And I thought, if we can even travel by then, would I want to go that soon? The resort will likely have a bunch of restrictions in place still, the country could be in a situation of unrest. Why would I want to go so soon just because it is cheaper?

I’d rather pay more and go on a trip when things feel normal again... We already were on a trip right when everything really kicked off in March, the trip was cut short and the experience was less then ideal.

I have a vacation to a certain oceanside city in Maryland planned for August that I will gladly cancel if masks are still required because I, too, am not interested in wearing one while on vacation.
At home, while out and about? Sure. While on vacation? That's not much of a vacation. Just push it off to next year and hope for the best.
