It’s unfortunate if masks are uncomfortable, but that wasn’t my point. Earlier in this thread someone posted the protocol for mask- wearing and I’m pretty sure almost no one is taking these precautions. If a person is asymptomatic, he likely isn’t coughing yet. But he could be repeatedly touching his face when raising and lowering a flimsy mask, then spreading the virus by touching door knobs, handles, etc. Also, although people give lip service to the idea that the masks are to protect others rather than themselves and are not a substitute for social distancing, I’ve noticed that people wearing them rarely move away from others. Masks are valuable only if they are used in addition to, and not as a substitute for, other safety measures.

Absolutely agreed.

They are known for sample testing, touch, smell etc of the perfume, colonge and handmade soap products. It would interesting to see if these products are all hands off with the current corona times.

Matey's best keep their ruddy hands inside the coat, that be the best way to repel carriers. And mark well me words Mateys 'Dead men tell no tales'

I am friendly with one of the entertainment acts, Southbound!!, that was performing regularly at Disney Springs before the closure. If I hear anything about a gig after May 20th, I'll update it here. They played at a number of locations and all of them outdoors and in the evening hours so I think this may be one of the things to come back soon. Marie

Do we actually have anywhere that shows us number of people tested per day? The assumption is that the increase in new cases is due to a ramp up in testing, but I’ve also been hearing that for a week or 2 now. At some point the number of people tested has to level off and then new cases becomes more relevant again.
Well I know we were ramping up testing 2 weeks ago and still ramping up testing this week doing a record amount of tests yesterday...with even more testing capability coming next week. Our Governor wants to identify every active case he can before we open up...I think it is a continuous process...For the record our positive percent was down to just over 5 percent...our lowest in over a month

Are you in FL? It sounds like based on what others have posted too Florida is really ramping up testing. That’s a good sign that they will be ready to open up some things successfully. Some other parts of the country need to catch up.

I have read all 1125 pages, you guys are very entertaining.

As for the masks, I am in the no way do I want to wear one camp. But, I will if it means getting to go to the Magic Kingdom now rather then later.

The positive news about all of this is, we have read the news report that the "Experts" saw Disney not opening until 2021. We now know that they are idiots. I believe that we will all be walking down Main Street in June. If I get sick, oh well, then I stay home, in bed, and binge watch TV. Now, if I had one of the underlying conditions, then I would in no way go until it was safe.

We are American's we can make up our own minds, let us.

I am in Wisconsin. Our case were going down to where we were below 100 a day...then they ramped up testing and it shot up to over 400...we were down to about 315 yesterday despite having a record number of tests easily performed which I think is a good sign....we want to be on a 14 day decline of percent positive which we seam to be trending now.

As has been previously stated, the number of cases has to be relative to the number of tests done. If you are testing many more people, it is expected you will find more positive rates. But if you divide the number of positive cases by the number of tests done, that will give you a percentage that can be compared from day to day, week to week etc. Marie

So just got off the phone with a CM. We purchased the Discover Disney Florida resident three day passes back in January. We were planning a Spring Break trip, rescheduled for Memorial Day weekend (what can I say... I'm an optimist) and now it looks like it won't be open then either. The tickets were set to expire June 30th. They are now extended through July 31st. Was surprised.... thought they would be extended for at least as long as the shut down. Perhaps it is a sign we are looking at a summer reopening? I dunno.... was hoping to postpone the trip to September to avoid summer heat, face masks, and limited attractions.....

Some of the testing centers here in Florida are shutting down because of a lack of people coming to be tested. Honestly with all of the visitors we had from say November to March our numbers should have been off the charts.

You must have missed the parts about the “other people” i.e., the ones who aren’t you.

Since when is one financial analyst multiple “Experts”?
Many of the other analysts were keeping June 1 as their park opening date for their models based on Disney taking reservations starting then. I assume some of them have revised further out now that DLR pushed the hotel booking date back into July. I did see one analyst who said that to be conservative they were building in no operating income from the parks segment through the fiscal year (9/30). That doesn’t mean they don’t think the parks will open before 9/30, just that they won’t be very profitable. These analysts are trying to predict the profits and cash generated by the business, not an opening date for park fans.

I think they were off the charts if they were being tracked earlier in the year. Many articles now claim the virus was here early January and perhaps even before. It’s been circulating before the March shut downs.

Speaking of analyst‘s write-ups:

This guy is saying signs are encouraging and could point to an earlier than originally anticipated opening. His current estimate is Sep 1 but he now thinks based on Shanghai that it could be the end of July.
