What do you do when someone doesn‘t want to wear one? Have security detain them, throw them out of the park? I just don’t see Disney wanting the bad PR from that kind of event.
If masks are required and somebody does not want to wear one then they should not be going to the park. I'm sure that they will let people know before they enter the park that masks are required. If they do not wear a mask after a warning and a scan of the magic band to record the warning was given, then you kick them out for the day to let them decide if they want to abide by the rules the next day. If they do it the next day, maybe a 1 month ban. I don't think that this would create bad PR to the contrary I think that most people would like that Disney is enforcing the rules for their guests safety. They will really only have to do it a few times to let guests know they mean business.

They don’t even do that for smoking.

It’s impossible to insist on masks 100% inside the parks. People will be allowed to eat and drink. I’m sure CM’s will be able to remind guests to wear them.

I don’t see what the point is of a character meet and greet where you stay 6 feet from the character. That’s going to make for an odd looking picture. To each their own. I also want to see how water parks work with masks. Seems virtually impossible. The rest of the stuff sounds about what I would expect.

If they worked out the right lenses for the cameras and put specific cue marks to pose on, they can probably make it look like you are in the same plane as the character as long as the feet touching the ground aren't in the frame.

What do you do when people wear an aluminum foil bracelet to prevent the magic band scanning? What will they do then, get security to force them to expose the band? They'd have better luck with distance markings on the ground and CMs with megaphones reminding parties to stay separated than having a mask enforcement team.

Plus, as I've said before, if you observe small children wearing masks they are either constantly playing with it and pulling it off their face or wearing it as a necklace for the most part. Look around next time you are in a grocery store if your local area requires mask wearing.

Breathing in 2nd hand smoke does not have the capability to kill you in less than a month (at least I'm pretty sure it doesn't maybe for some people I guess) Covad-19 definitely can.

It's kind of fun to do the impossible. -Walt Disney. You will be allowed to take your mask off when you are in a restaurant eating and drinking as the tables will be setup for proper distancing. For some reason people love to bring up the eating and drinking thing and masks. Trust me you will not starve to death because you are wearing a mask.

If they do it right, security would be the ones scanning the band, no scan and they can skip the warning and go right to the kicking out of the park for endangering others.

It did say they will be implementing them. Its easy to enforce the masks. You wear it or you're not welcome in. As for the character meet and greets, the Transformer ones at Universal are not up close. People are going to have to learn to adapt.

They tried that on a SEPTA bus in philly. SEPTA made masks required, a bus driver told a man he couldn’t ride without one, the man refused. Transit police and eventually Philly PD were called in and they removed him from the bus. Of course the whole thing was recorded on a camera phone. The public outcry was so severe they reversed the policy a few days later. They said masks were still required but they will no longer enforce the rule.

Disney is a bigger train wreck for this kind of situation. Dragging a mother of 4 out of the parks while her kids cry in the background will make for a terrible PR video. How many people will want to visit if videos pop up of people being confronted by security? You know the person thrown out will have some story with extenuating circumstances that makes them look like a victim. I don’t disagree that people should follow a rule or not come, but that’s not always how it works and public sentiment is very easy to sway especially against large corporations.

Excuse me sir... you’re not allowed to enjoy your dole whip outside of the dole whip enjoyment zone. Mask up or I scan your band!!!

I see your point on the Dole Whip. Maybe to help the situation they temporarily stop selling food except for restaurants that have properly distanced seating areas.

It’s a good thing they got rid of most of the smoking areas at the parks. It would be hard to smoke a cigarette with a mask on 😷 🚬

Well that's the other issue with masks in general - people must remove them to eat or drink. How long does someone have to enjoy their coke and churro before they're shouted at, either by another guest or a CM, to put the mask on.

They could limit eating and drinking during the face mask phase to inside restaurants.

I don’t think that works (especially in the summer). You can’t restrict people from drinking water in the heat...not safely anyway. They could close the carts that sell food to limit extra eating, but with restaurants at limited capacity it may be hard to find a bite to eat.

Are you saying WDW would open around Memorial Day? There's no chance as they don't even have bookings for those dates and they're not going to open to nobody staying on property.

Technically, I'm booked for Memorial Dy. Figure it has a 99.9% chance of being cancelled, but it's still there for now.

People already get dehydrated or heat exhaustion with carts available. Picture how many more there would be if limited to inside restaurants which would also have a limited capacity. Not to mention the cranky kids because being able to stop and eat a packed snack would also have to be out.
