Coronado vs Caribbean

Any thoughts about the two? Comments, opinions?

Both, I know, are spread out, but both have also been recently refurbed. CS has queen beds now, while CB doesn't. What else?

Also, why does CS have slightly higher prices than CB?

CS has slightly higher prices than CB for the exact reason you mentioned above: they have have queen sized beds.

I would opt for CS because it's newer, and has a nicer food court (with a lot of variety). I also tend to prefer the theming there a lot more. However, definitely request a room near the main building so you're not walking endlessly every day and night.

Here are some very recent photos from both :)

My personal preference would be Coronado.

I think that another reason Coronado Springs has slightly higher prices than Caribbean Beach is that they're the only moderate hotel on property with the corporate amenities like conference rooms, in-room massage and room service. They're supposed to be the hotel to go to for conventions and stuff. I've never stayed at Coronado, but I'd definitely stay there before booking Caribbean Beach again. I wasn't impressed with CB when I stayed there last year. Part of the problem was something that will be an issue with either resort, though: they're just too spread out. The internal bus system was sporadic and I didn't like having to trek across a large parking lot to get from our room to the bus stop. That might not have been a problem if I were staying in a different wing, though.

I've stayed at both and I love CS. I would be going there in a couple of weeks if it wasn't a solo trip. It's a bit harder to justify the nicer hotels when it is just you. CS has a great atmosphere, especially when the sun goes down.

Between those two, I would take Coronado Springs.

There's one peculiar thing about CS compared to other Moderate resorts - there's only one sink instead of two. There's more area around the sink though for stuff.

:)

Thanks everyone ... CS it is. I "requested" the cabanas, either 9A or 9B.

(DS really wanted to stay at a "Disney" resort rather than the Dolphin, and with my CAA discount, works out to a bit cheaper since we don't have to pay the resort fee or for the shuttle back to MCO).

Now I'll be able to say I've stayed at all the moderates :sohappy:

If you're going in April 2010, you might not have had a choice anyways. I called 6 months ago to book for April 2010 as well, and I had initially planned Caribbean Beach. Even as far as a year out, all they had available at that time was Pirate rooms. I went ahead and booked it, but not only did I not want to pay an extra 30 bucks a night, but my wife and I just weren't thrilled with the thought of a Pirate room. So I called the next day and switched it to Coronado Springs. I figured that I could always just keep callling back periodically to see if something comes available and rebook if so, but I have long since got my plans set on Coronado Springs and gotten excited about all that it has to offer, and I haven't yet tried to switch and I doubt that I will try at all. I'm too excited about that cool Mayan Pyramid pool. :D

I stayed at both and just this past August at CS. I liked it a lot better. Nicer pool and atmosphere. The queen beds were new and so comfy, also remodeled rooms were nice. You requested a good building. We stayed in Casitas 5 because it was a little closer to the pool, lake view and at bus stop #2, first pick up at the resort and drop off too. No problems at all with the buses. Have a great stay and you will definately enjoy the CS!

Wow, that's amazing. They did have availability at CBR, but it was a tad higher, even with AAA -- it was probably water view or a pirate room. But I'm excited, and DS is even more excited about the Mayan pool!

We just booked the CSR today. I gave my DS (8) the choice between any of the moderates ... showed him pictures, took out the UG's and You-Tubed them both, including the CBR pirate and Nemo rooms. He chose CSR! Why? "I wanted it because it had the coolest slide, big beds, and I really liked the rooms and the pool, the beach, hammocks and playground ... and to try something new. Pirates are OLD and I'm too big for Nemo. Plus, it's only 10 minutes from Epcot and DHS!" Out of the mouths ...

We stayed at cs last september and relly enjoyed it. Our only problem was a few times at night the pool and outside bar were pretty taken over by huge groups thet had conventions there

The higher prices do not start until 1/3/2010. The price will be $5.00 more per night. For that $5.00, CSR offers many options. Quuen beds, salon, fitness center, spa, and dance club (Rix Lounge - only resort to have a dance club). They also have LG 42" flat panel tv's in each room.
