Coronado Springs opinions?

I'm getting ready to book for a quick weekend trip in early February. The Coronado looks interesting online, but if anyone has any recent experiences there, I'd appreciate some feedback. Thanks!

A friend and I stayed at Cornado this past March. We were in the building next to the main building so it was really nice and close to get food in the morning. Some people don't like Cornado because it can be quite a walk to the main building but for a weekend trip it would be good. There are bus stops around the whole property so the only need for the main building is food and shopping

I love Coronado! I was in Ranchos 6A which is pretty far away from the main building, but it was a quick walk to the pool and bus stop, and the walk to el centro was beautiful in the morning and in the evening. (also, if a walking distance scares you, you can hop on any park bus and it will go to the main building LAST and you can hop off instead of walking there from further rooms). It was gorgeous, the pool was great, it has the conventioners there so there werent many children running around which was great for me and my fiance at the time! I would recommend this resort to anybody! as you can see I LOVE LOVE LOVE Coronado!

I could easily write a ten page essay on reasons you SHOULD stay at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. Instead, I will just say that if the Coronado is your final decision, you will not be disappointed.

Congratulations on the upcoming trip! As posted, CS is very nice, but it is very spread out. I've been twice. The first time out of curiosity, the second time due to lack of availability elsewhere. Western atmosphere isn't my thing, so I certainly prefer POR or POFQ. Never been to CB for a comparison.
The food situation at CS is different. The primary "food court" is wait staff attended, and it's pricey. Other members might have better details for you. The food quality is excellent.
The pool and lake areas are beautiful, and the beach bungalows look nice.
Overall, it is a nice moderate, but it's a little desolate and it's my least favorite moderate.
Have a great time wherever you go!

Love this resort! We'll be staying there again in August. It will be our 3rd time at this resort. We love that it's spread out. Walking does not bother us. The last time we were there supposedly they were sold out. But you could not tell at all. The grounds are magnificent. The food in the Pepper Market is good but they tag on a 10% fee. We have never stayed at another moderate resort so I have nothing to compare it to. I really don't think you will be disappointed.

I loved Coronado Springs when we stayed there (October 2007). Like others have mentioned the grounds/lake/pool areas are beautiful, especially in the mornings and it doesn't ever seem to be packed with people. We always have a car and don't have to depend on Disney transportation so I can't say anything about the bus service. One thing I will say, we payed for a water view, and there was no water to be seen. We'll definitely stay there again, but will probably go with the standard room. Also, I love the lobby/registration area... it's beautiful!

Have fun!

Just stayed there in September for the first time. Have now stayed at all of the moderates, and while POR is my favourite, this one was right up there also. If you get the dining plan, the Pepper Market is an awesome place to use your CS meals, as they have a grill with steaks that would normally cost $21 and you can get the meal as a CS! Lots of other choices also, better than your average CS location.

Also paid for a water-view room, but alas, no water could be seen, unless we walked out of the room and down the sidewalk...would not pay the extra again...but that was our only complaint.

Yeah, they are a little generous on what they call a water view room.
They really should just call it 'front side of the building'.
We got a water view room once at POR; paid extra.
If we went out on the walkway and leaned over and looked around the live oak, then we could see the river.

Get a standard room.
If I were staying at Coronado Springs I'd be happy in any standard room but would request to Not be in the ranchos because those buildings are the fartherest from the lobby.

By the way, there's a member on this web site, Cooleo, who is from LA and who really likes Coronado Springs.

Good luck.

I've stayed at all of the moderates, and CS is my favorite. It's spread out as others say, but so are CB and POR. It's easily the most beautiful of any non-deluxe resort on property. The views especially at night are specacular, especially around the pool area. It's also the only non-deluxe that has a fitness center. It's also the only resort that still has a resort-specific refillable mug.

Pepper Market is different from the other food courts, as others have said. If you're on the dining plan, it's great because you get better more expensive food for the same counter service credits. If you're not on the dining plan though, you spend more money than at the regular food courts.

We stayed there in September 2007 and absolutely loved the place. We happened to be lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite (sorry no pictures) which I'm sure helped a lot with our enjoyment of the place.

We really liked the variety of the Pepper Market and the fact that it couted as a counter service credit on the dining plan. The 10% tip did not bother us because we would have tipped anyway for people who got our drinks and cleaned the table.

As a couple without kids we really enjoyed the resort being spread out. Very nice to take a stroll around the lake and it made a crowded resort seem near empty.

Great place and I would highly recommend.

Thanks so much for the opinions! It sounds really great and I'm gonna give it a try. It's the resort I always drive past on my way in and out of WDW and I always thought I'd love to give it a try. I've heard good things about Pepper Market, too, so that's something else I'm eager to sample.

Thanks again!

LOVE Coronado. It is our home away from home. We've stayed seven times and have already booked number eight. It is the only resort we want to stay at (although one day we will try AKL). They recently added queen beds to all the rooms (except those with king beds), just started a major rehab with Cabanas 9B which will become Club Service. They will continue the rehab with new furniture, carpet, televisions in all of the rooms. It is a spread out resort, but that is why we like it. We don't feel as if the resort is ever overly crowded (even with a convention taking place) and it is not noisy like some of the resorts. It is absolutely beautiful with the landscaping, etc. We especially enjoy evening walks after the sun has gone down and the sun is reflecting off the lake or the fountains in the courtyards. They recently added a new take out food area, Rix Cafe, and a new lounge, The Rix. They have one of the largest gift shops of all the resorts. The pool is great, and there are three quiet pools (one in each section), hot tub, sand volleyball court, pool bar (with food), fitness center/spa.

I could easily plagiarize that essay and add another sentence or two.

One more for the love CS group we are staying there for the 3rd time in May. It is beautiful and the Pepper Market has the best eggs in Disney.
