We’ll be arriving at Coronado in two months time. I’m hoping it’s going to be looking a bit more scenic and less building site like by then. Be nice if the restaurant looked pretty by then! (I may be being quite over optimistic here!)

Think I might prefer the primer...

Wow, that’s just awful. They decided even the bland initial artwork was too colorful, huh? Or was the first image even more misleading then the trees placed in the foreground blocking the tower would indicate - the colors that seemed to be on the tower were just lights.

This and the Riviera look almost interchangeable.

Probably not a coincidence. DVC took inventory from CBR and it’s being returned here. At least that’s my theory.

They’re definitely going in a different direction with the decor at CSR, you can also see it in the changes in the main building. The tower art just looks way out of place to me. My first thought was the colors reminded me of the old Trump Taj Mahal here in Atlantic City (thankfully now a Hard Rock). I guess it’s the gold accents that just come across as gaudy to me.

CSR was always our favorite moderate resort, doubt it will be our favorite or moderate once this tower is complete. ;)

I apologize if this was already discussed, but what is the scope of the pool refurbishment? Are considerations being made for the capacity added by the tower?

In general, how will the new capacity of the resort impact amenities like the pool and dining areas? Will the tower have dedicated dining options (I don't really count ? And it does not seem to add any pool capacity while adding 500 rooms.

I'm glad I'm not the only person thinking this. And I have seen no commentary on it. If I'm being an optimist [and I'm not] I don't think the impact will be too bad. I think the net rooms gained from this expansion is less than 500 because they razed at least 1 building to put up the tower. Next, many in the target audience for the tower are business types and I don't how much pool time they will really being doing. I hope the resort stays "good". The CSR has been my home since I started going on my own "grown up" trips in 2000.

I think restaurants and bars will be the biggest direct impact. Conventions and meetings will be over in the evening, leaving plenty of time for adults to enjoy dinner and a drink. Fortunately they are accounting for that. But I hate to see Pepper Market lose a lot of character. I'm so surprised when I see people complain about the food there. I'm assuming they aren't eating the Mexican options which my wife and I love! In general, I think the niche of CSR loyalists are all on pins and needles.

The good? The restaurant is in the middle of a lake.

The bad? It looks like the same lame design team that gave us the Mexico and Morocco waterfront restaurants that feature no exterior architectural interest or integrity.
as a Mexican I do not see the mexican architecture in that building. Seems like your classic european "by the river" vibe with just minor touches to look like the pyramids.

Infact, the restaurants looks like a pale imitation of the very well received restaurants in the Circle Du Soleil complex at Cancun ( Circle du Soleil, Joya) Which is also "above" a man made lake.

Good to know someone shares my opinion. That new tower looks nothing like texmex or mexican. Infact it has way more touches from Muslim landmark buildings you'd see in lower spain or Turkey.

But the pepper Market doesnt have mexican food per se, everything there are pseudo mexican dishes.

They are pretty much modified or texmex.
The food offered there is more on par of Houston's TEXMEX than mexican.

In Tim Tracker’s latest CSR construction video, he mentions this and apparently talked to some CM’s. They mentioned the resort getting more influences from Spain. Of course they might not know, but many of the changes certainly don’t seem to mesh with the resort’s original theme.
