corny CoP line

I'm not one to complain about CoP because I've always considered it as a "must do" at the Kingdom, but has anyone ever noticed during the Christmas scene that the daughter Patricia mentions a "car phone". The term "car phone" was thrown away with a warehouse full of pet rocks and Bay City Rollers albums. Shouldn't the folks at Disney step into the 2000's in their dialog? Just a random observation.

"Car Phone"

CoP isn't necessarily supposed to reflect modern times, it's frozen in time. At the time the ride was built, the "car phone" was revolutionary. Unless they do a full refurb and add a new scene, I think this is adequate.

Maybe they will get around to changing it shortly after they update the Coleco Vision quality video game used in the attraction.

The creepy grandma creeps me out... she is trying to act all cool and hip... meanwhile... her dead cat is laying on the Wrapped Christmas present beside her. :lookaroun

BTW... My oven still does not talk to me... however I do have the LED Christmas lights... but they do not respond to my voice commands. :(

What? You mean you don't even have a Car Phone?

Let me guess, next you'll tell us that you don't have any Laserdiscs for your High-Definition Television.

That's the only archaic line I think still works. And here's why: Grandpa's old. And old people always use the wrong terminology.

Umm, there is a cat in that scene?

And yeah, I think we are far beyond the futuristic technology of car phones, laser disc and virtual reality.

My take on the "car phone" line is that it was written as being one thing, but still works when thought of in a different sense...

It was written when there *were* car phones, so it sounds like a current amenity that Grandpa didn't have while growing up.

Now that "car phones" are pretty much gone, I take it as a jab at Grandpa along the lines of "you're not going to tell us about the old days when you didn't even have a house phone..." Or insert another exaggerated technology, like an oven, or indoor plumbing, or an 8-track player...
Grandpa sounds like the kind of guy who walked to school 3 miles in the snow without shoes, uphill, both ways...and the girl is hip to his storytelling ways and takes a jab at him. ;)
