I just made a reservation at the Coral Reef restaurant because it sounded like a nice place to have a late lunch/early dinner. However, I have never actually eaten there myself....how is it? :)

I had lunch there a few months ago and it was great. I would have prefered dinner because they have different menus for lunch and dinner but it was still a great meal. If you can arrive a little early for your reservation and request to sit next to the window of the aquarium, you may have to wait a little longer but it is well worth it.

We have eaten there twice and enjoyed it. It was better the second time than the first. We had the Strip Steak each time with the lobster bisque for appetizer. Loved seeing the fish swim by as we ate. :)

I've always liked eating there and never understood why lots of people hated it. The location is one of the best in all of WDW (I agree with post above, try to sit right against the aquarium), the food is good and it's a great way to take a break from walking all around Epcot.

We went there a while back and we all liked it. My sister tried it for the first time this past Oct and she and her family really liked it. :)

Does anyone know how to find out when Mickey or any other characters will be diving?

Thanks in advance!

We had an amazing meal here in August. The food was great and so was the atmosphere. Our only complaint was that the service was slow.

I have eaten there a couple of times and had a nice meal each visit. The food is considerably overpriced (no surprise at WDW), the atmosphere is very nice, the service is decent, and I have never seen Disney characters in the water.

I just ate there for the first time when I was in Disney last week and it was great. I was a little disappointed because I expected to see some shellfish on the menu. But I got the ahi tuna and it was fabulous. Everyone I was with really enjoyed it as well.

I ate at the coral reef in June and it was one of the worst meals I've ever had on Disney property (the worst was Big River at the Boardwalk). We thought we were lucky to get a table right next to the aquarium but during our whole meal unsupervised children kept coming up to take flash photos of the fish about 18 inches from my food.

The salad was good, but the steak was tough and the chocolate wave dessert was disgusting and bland. It was a very expensive and very disappointing meal. I am, however, glad to hear that others have had better experiences there, maybe we just caught them on an off day. We won't be going back to give them another chance though.

We loved the crabcakes, but both my wife and I are not seafood fans at all. That said, we tried to be adventurous and ordered the lobster... we didn't like it all that much, but it probably would've been great for others. The dessert menu was very, very similar to all the other restaurants. Arrive early and tell them if you are celebrating something, and you might get the glass-view tables...

My wife and I went on our honeymoon a few years back, and had the only disappointing meal of out entire vacation at the Coral Reef. The restaurant was extremely busy, so we were seated almost an hour after our seating time. Our server wasn't particularly attentive, again because the restaurant was so busy and his tables seemed very oddly spaced out. The food wasn't very interesting or even all that tasty. Compared to any of the other meals we had over the week we were there, this one stood firmly at the bottom of the list.

I don't blame anyone, and it certainly didn't ruin our honeymoon, but we'd already had several really great meals and this one was so average in comparison it really stands out. But such is the reality of restaurants anywhere, and perhaps even moreso with the ones at Walt Disney World.

I went there for dinner last august and was very pleased with the meal. The atmosphere was very nice, and I actually think too nice for the crowd it appeals to. It would have been great if it was a little quieter...but you are in a Disney theme park so you can't complain. I had the seafood pasta, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I went on my honeymoon last April. I wasn't expecting too much but was very pleasantly surprised. Aside from getting a great table, the food was done brilliantly and it wasn't that expensive. Two thumbs up from me. A third thumb would be given if there was a suitable place to sit / wait for your table to become available.

We ate there in October and had a great experience. The food was wonderful, I had Tilapia and DH had Mahi Mahi. I had the chocolate wave for desert but I can't remember what he had. The service was great too. We plan to go back there in May.

Our group of 6 ate there just over a month ago. The waiter was great, the food was pretty good, but its just really cool to sit there and watch the tank. The food is a little over priced, but just like others have said, its Disney, we know the food is going to be over priced ( most times).

No offense, but I think this is kinda expected? I mean yes, it is rude, but I think everyone and anyone does this. As for the kids, it's Disney, what do you expect? IMO, go somewhere out side of the park if you would like to get away from the kid!

I don't mind kids at all (I taught elementary school for 7 years and work with children now!) and I certainly expect them at Walt Disney World and in the restaurants- I never said I wanted to get away from kids. I just didn't expect them taking flash pictures in my face inches from my food every few minutes. It was multiple children and at times even adults at many times during the meal. Maybe its just me, but I find it difficult to enjoy a meal when that sort of thing goes on. I've never had anything like that happen at any other Disney restaurants filled with children. I didn't think I had overly high expectations.

As far as everyone and anyone doing this, that's not true, because I wouldn't. Its rude and disruptive to the people sitting there eating and its the same aquarium that you can view in the living seas. Why waste your meal time walking around the restaurant taking flash pictures?

Sorry that people have had bad experiences. We've had nothing but great ones there. It is overpriced, but again we go there knowing that the atmosphere makes up for it. When we went for our anniversary, we got personalized menus and a wonderful dessert for the occasion. We always get a table by the glass (request on our ressie) but we do it knowing that kids and people will be taking photos and coming up to the glass. For a bit more private experience, just as for a mid-tier table so you get a lovely view of the whole aquarium without being part of the experience.
