Coral Reef

I just made a reservation at the Coral Reef restaurant because it sounded like a nice place to have a late lunch/early dinner. However, I have never actually eaten there myself....how is it? :)

Great choice! My last WDW trip was just 2 weeks ago, and in that time we had the DDP and decided to try a few places we'd never eaten in before. One of which was the Coral Reef. It was absolutely fantastic. The service was top-notch, the food was quite delicious, and the atmosphere and scenery was just great. We all enjoyed the place so much that we cancelled a character breakfast meal later in the week and made another lunch reservation for Coral Reef, where we all ordered the same meals again and it was still just as great. It's definitely made my list as a must-do from now on.

I don't mind kids at all (I taught elementary school for 7 years and work with children now!) and I certainly expect them at Walt Disney World and in the restaurants- I never said I wanted to get away from kids. I just didn't expect them taking flash pictures in my face inches from my food every few minutes. It was multiple children and at times even adults at many times during the meal. Maybe its just me, but I find it difficult to enjoy a meal when that sort of thing goes on. I've never had anything like that happen at any other Disney restaurants filled with children. I didn't think I had overly high expectations.

As far as everyone and anyone doing this, that's not true, because I wouldn't. Its rude and disruptive to the people sitting there eating and its the same aquarium that you can view in the living seas. Why waste your meal time walking around the restaurant taking flash pictures?

I noticed this as well and agree with you. I dont have problems with kids, but they can get very very annoying as they keep running up to the aquarium, climbing up, screaming, and getting pictures while you are eating. Its not just a one time deal, it happens constantly throughout the meal. Now granted it did get better at some point...most parents will not let their children do that. So maybe it was just one family that was causing most of the ruckus.

Lobster Bisque is great there. But it is more atmosphere than quality, though the food is good. If you have a hankering for real good seafood at WDW, head out of Epcot's backdoor and walk over to the Boardwalk and go eat at the Flying Fish Cafe. Awesome food.

Interestingly enough, in the two instances in which we ate there on our last trip, we NEVER saw any children running around trying to touch the aquarium walls or people walking all over the place trying to snap photos. Everyone seemed well-behaved and enjoying themselves in their own seats.

We really enjoyed our dinner. I had the tuna and my family had the steak. Everything was great and we would love to go back. I have photos in my albums if you care to look.
