COP... tear down?

Some months ago, marni1971 stated CoP would get a substantial refurb in the near future as part of the $350 million allotted to MK from the DHS expansion. I don't know if this is still in the pipeline.

I'm in a Carousel of Progress group on Facebook, and the owner started a thread stating that the new paint is the tip of the iceberg and that there are plans for updates as soon as this fall. He even posted concept art for a new finale scene. The art looked a little dated, but I hadn't seen it before and couldn't find it through a quick Google search.

Have any of our insiders heard wind of this at all? @marni1971, @Lee?

Edit: here's the supposed concept art.

I've heard a few rumblings of some updates for Act 4, but I wouldn't expect anything drastic. I mainly heard about the video game system, but I could also see some minor changes to the appliances, decor, and clothes.

Are you able to post a link to the Facebook group or can you share the name of it?

Always found the final act to be funny. Supposed to be in the current time, right? Yet it looks like the 90s. Is Disney that lame that they can't spend a few buck and update the clothes and tech to today? Gheez. I never understood that. Every 5 years, they should update the last act. It's not like it would cost a lot of money. It's the little things like this that baffle me.

It looks like the 90's because that is when it was done. The sequence of CoP is an important part of the show, the wider the gap is between the last scene and the one previous to it would make it disjointed and harder to follow. Disney, with a rare degree of common sense, stopped trying to guess the future. We live in a time of rapid change and no one can come close to predicting what will be just on the horizon. No, CoP must stay a historical show and, as they have done, stopped trying to forecast. They are not going to attempt to change it, so because of it's historical importance it is hanging in there by a thread, they are not going to invest more into something that they cannot improve by changing one scene that will be obsolete within days of building.

No need to change the Video game system.... VR's BACK!!!! WOO WOO

Gosh, I'm such a computer nerd....

By the way, I'm not joking.... the system used in act 4 is pretty similar to the things youll actually be able to do with Ouculs Rift and the HTC Vive......

I disagree with you, respectfully. It isn't about forcasting. The last scene is meant to reflect the current era. "Investing" is merely changing clothes and the technology to what is current. This only needs to be done about every five years. We are talking about maybe $5000 in upgrades...tops. And this can be done in a day or two. "Obsolete within days of building" is not correct. They don't have to build anything. It's a simple manner of swapping out clothes, the TV, kitchen appliances, etc. The cost is nothing and it couldn't be simpler. No one needs to guess the future, as you say. It's common sense.
