Geez, here we go again....

What you wrote may be true, but what I wrote is also true. The thread is in these forums. And, again, it seems that you're not reading carefully. I said that people read the INITIAL post about the STOLport being a staging area wrong, and that I tried to explain staging area, because people skipped over it. I didn't say they misread my post.

I never said it wasn't...but people weren't going with the STOLport DVC rumor because they weren't reading your posts it was because an actual rumor stating that a resort was going there.

Talk about not reading a post carefully.

And if you go back to the threads....all of them...you'll see that I was in favor of your rumor and never believed the STOLport rumor.

Man, you didn't read again. My only point in my last post was that I NEVER said people didn't read my post in the the other thread. People misread the inital poster's rumor right here on wdwmagic.com.

Someone DID start a thread on this site saying that the stolport would be used for a staging area for a new DVC resort. THEN, a bunch of people DID read the initial post wrong. THEN, a bunch of people posted about how happy they were that there would be a new resort on a monorail beam. THEN, I posted that it was only a staging area for the new wing of the Contemporary, and people ignored it.

None of this has ANYTHING to do with another sight or another rumor. I never mentioned the actual rumor, I mentioned the rumor ON THIS SITE.

So, again, please read and understand better next time, and stop trying to prove me wrong. Everytime I make a point, you simply come back with a totally seperate point about something I'm not even talking about.

It's like me saying "The TTA is in the Magic Kingdom," and then you come back with, "Spaceship Earth is in Epcot, not the Magic Kingdom."

We're not even talking about the same thing, so, whatever. Those who read what I posted correctly in both cases know what I'm talking about, and those who didn't don't. Doesn't really matter.

Yeah, that's what I figured you'd type. Too much reading for you. If you couldn't comprehend my first post, then wy in the world would you understand the last one.

Back on topic.......

I love the idea of making part of the Contemporary into a DVC Resort. It would give the contemporary as a whole a little facelift from the old days, and also give new DVCers a new place to buy. I think Saratoga is the only place currently for sale as "new," and for whatever reason, all I read about it is bad stuff. :)

We had to "settle" on SSR last year. We weren't really looking forward to staying there, but much to our surprise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was great, the pools were great, we enjoyed the short walk to DTD, and we thought the buses were very efficient. We would definitely stay there again.

dvc here....but wont bother staying at the contemporary..if it does
really cant stand this resort.....wish the akl rumor were more
truer than this one...ugh...contemporary is just so, plain

You actually mean that you would rather have DVC in a resort that is only accessible by bus and far from many things than one that would be the first DVC connected to a monorail and the second located near the Magic Kingdom? If there ever was a time to get in, this is it. I expect this one to sell quickly.

Does anyone know if Disney has ever considered changing the look of the Contemporary? Perhaps they could provide an overlay like they did with the 70s-era TL. I realize that it would be a monstrosity of a task but surely in 50 years the Contemporary won't still look like its 70s self.

That is correct...and SSR doesn't seem to be selling out as fast as the others did.

Interesting comment because I was just looking at a chart on another website that showed SSR is selling at a rate nearly double prior resorts since the year 2000. (Actually the data appears to include ALL DVC sales, of which SSR should be the represent the largest share by a wide margin.) The data is based upon deeds recorded in Orange County over that period.

Even by examining stats provided by DVC, it's pretty simple to see that SSR is selling at least as well as BCV. By DVC's own admission, it took about 14 months to sell all 200 rooms at BCV. By comparison, the first 500+ rooms at SSR have sold in just about 3 years' time.

Compared to the older resorts, those numbers equally impressive. Wasn't OKW originally constructed with about 300 rooms? And didn't those sales run from 1991 until at least 1996 when the BoardWalk opened?

Funny how the vast majority of criticism aimed at SSR tends to come from those who have never stayed there. Thanks for sharing your comments, dvcnut39. We've stayed there twice ourselves and enjoy it very much.

All of this nonsense talk about a resort being built on the monorail beam over by the landing strip was NEVER close to being true, and it all started because the news was posted here that the landing strip area was being used for a STAGING AREA for a new DVC resort.

No, it all started because Lou Mongello, author of the WDW trivia book, claimed that he had souces indicating that the next resort would be on the STOLport area.

Other sites like MousePlanet.com picked up on the STOLport construction rumors and helped fuel the fire.

The "staging area" comments and the resort rumor were two separate occurrences. The exponential growth of that discussion had little to do with people simply misreading posts.

GOOD! That it means it will be easier for me to get in! We can work well together because my family and I think that AKL is the absolute worst waste of space on property. Too dark, poor design and worst management. So I won't take up your space there and you stay away from my space at the Contemporary? Agreed?

I can't see them tearing down the North Garden wings anytime soon.
They just put in new carpeting in all the hallways and also did extensive wall painting.

As far as the rumor of a 15 story buiilding goes..can you imagine what this would do to the view from the tower rooms...especially the upper floors?
I still won't believe it until it's officially announced.

I think it's just wishful thinking for the DVC members.

Is everyone forgetting that the Contemporary is already fifteen stories tall?! I wouldn't say that building another tower next to the existing one the exact same height could be considered dwarfing. I have a feeling it will look like a natural complement to the original tower, if this rumor is true.

The Contemporary is only 14 stories tall - there is no 13th floor.
