Letter writing anyone?

Petition?

I dont know but we need to at least find someway to voice our displeasure, because tbf this is a joke. I just cant belive they have done this, that somebody considers this an inspiring ending.

Write WDW and write to Siemens. They are the sponsers for the ride.

Addresses anyone??

That is what this forum is for though, to discuss (both the good and the bad), the changes that go on at WDW. Some members like the refurb, others hate it - it's only fair that both sides have their say. We should not be attacking others opinions.

Thank you steve.

How many of you who are bemoaning the changes have actually seen it... IN PERSON...with the photo capture working????

When I read about it on these boards, I thought it would be awful. But to see it...IN PERSON...I was really wow'd by it. You don't notice the missing scenery because you're so focused on the screen. And the first-of-its-kind unique variety it brings to a Disney ride is so different, I roll my eyes at those who say "it would be better off in the post show by itself".

I can certainly see why the new touchscreens may not be enjoyed by all old-school Disney buffs who have a knee-jerk reaction to believe the original of anything is always the best. But I think most other people who don't have a bordering-on-mental-disorder-obsession-over-such-things-as-a-theme-park-ride will find the new ending quite memorable (actually, the most memorable thing about the ride now!) once they see it IN PERSON.

I gotta ask, why do you roll your eyes at that? I won't say it would be better, but would be exactly the same. You would've been asked the exact same questions and shown the exact same video. There wouldn't have been anything different about it had it been put in the post show. Well, I guess other than the fact guests wouldn't have to take it if they didn't really want to. I've said it before, between the post show and the ride, it adds no real value to the ride. It's just a wasted portion of a good ride.

I'm not saying the survey and video itself is bad, but it isn't needed for the ride. And while some will enjoy it, they could have still enjoyed it in Project Tomorrow while those who are complaining about the lack of an ending would be able to enjoy the ending. It would've be a win-win situation. Ride fans get their ending, survey fans get their survey (and the only difference is you are not in a moving vehicle while taking/watching it).

And, for some reason, if the moving vehicle really adds that much to experience the video, I'm sure Disney would love to sell a DVD for $35 that could be watched in a car traveling down the road. :D Hey, it might even make the video even more thrilling, I mean 40mph compared to 2mph.

Why is it that if someone doesn't like the update, they are obsessed out-of-touch fanatics? We all pay to go to the parks, and we deserve what we have come to expect from Disney. I don't like hearing, "If you don't like it, then don't go!" Its unfortunate that there are only a few places on this earth where people who appreciate these types of emersive experiences can go, and to suggest that we all just "accept it" if we don't like how these things are going is not right.

That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the update. I will defend others right to disagree, however.

Do you really think it takes a lot of space for the birthday pepper's ghost effects? It takes next to none. That space is not huge, never was huge, and never will be huge because it can't be. The area where the SSE model was isn't big, wasn't big, and never will be. That model was quite small.

The descent has never been more than a glorified light show past the top 1/4 portion. It's no different now. I'm done trying to convince anyone who doesn't know the facts.

The bottom line is what has been said many times already. If you don't like it, too damn bad. Get over yourself. You think htis is a shabby rehab? That's laughable that you can overlook the entire attraction for a 150 foot stretch that hasn't changed all that much from it's original form and former rehabs. I can't believe that none of you complainers don't have anything better to do with your time.

While you guys and moan, I'm going to go enjoy WDW like the rest of the sane people around here. ;)
that is quite harsh. you might need to get over yourself. that is quite pompous.....

And thats fine for some people and when the declining by degrees (as so rightfully put by Kevin Yee on that other site) and we see more things like Stitch Encounter and Dino-Rama get built because Disney knows that it's "just good enough" for most people, then great, enjoy the former great Disney experience.

Meanwhile the rest of us will be voicing our opinion in the hopes that things can be improved to their former high standards that Disney itself set the bar for.
with that said, i do think that kevin yee goes way over board a lot of the time. there is "talking about how you do like a rehab" and there is kevin "talking about how you dont like a rehab, a piece of trash on the ground, what are they doing with the stagnant old Epcot phone booths, OMG its the end of the company as we know it, but hey, purchase my guide to WDW dining. thanks guy"

there is a happy medium

i agree with this to steve, and yes, i think we have gone over board with the complaining before. there is a happy medium and i dont think that discussing a rehab and giving your opinion is a bad thing.

When I wrote that I wasn't trying to make anyone feel like any less of a person, and I'm very sorry if I came off that way. What I meant by that sentence was that I think that WDI did what they thought the most people could enjoy. I honestly do not think that the "average tourists" at WDW are stupid or brainless. The ending is not mindless. I meant that WDI did what they felt would appeal to the widest audience, and it seems that meant they dropped most of the dramatics. My point was that WDI doesn't have to do what some of the "true Disney fans" want, and doesn't have to listen to what a small group of fans think. They are designing for every visitor, whether they know anything about Epcot or not. Please understand that I'm in no way trying or intending to make my opinion bigger or more important than anyone else's. And there's nothing wrong with tourists. I live no where near Florida, so anytime I am in WDW, I am a tourist!

Thank you for pointing it out. You gave me a chance to think about what I said and clarify my words. I'm a Disney fan, but by no means an expert on the subject. Nor am I any better than anyone else who rides Spaceship Earth. I know you're not trying to pick on just me, but I do feel bad about sounding like I think I'm better than everyone else.

"I'll see you in the future."

EDIT: I edited my other posts for clarity's sake. I think its time for me to stop posting in the SSE threads, which I should have a long time ago.
Sorry for the delayed response. Thank you for the clarification. True meaning is very hard to convey via text, and I'm sure that a majority of the responses here do not mean to be as harsh as they sound.

Again, it was not directly solely at you, but to the general sense of posters on this board with regard to the parks and especially Epoct.

Also, sorry for the off topic post, back to arguing about the downfall of WDI...

Oh, I definitely think that he does tend to go overboard and I disagree with some of the statements he's made, but the term "declining by degrees" in many ways has been accurate IMO.

Spent last week in the parks. There is still a sign out front of SSE the states that the ride is still is test phase and is scheduled to be completed in February. With that said, it does appear to be in a near complete phase, with a very BAD ending, which still does have glitches to be worked out.

I have not been on the new version of the ride yet, but I never found the ending of Spaceship Earth to be truly impressive. Like many purists, I miss the Tomorrow's Child song, but that would be incredibly dated today. The problem with Spaceship earth is that their really isn't a good way to end this ride.

I believe the initial speculation was that we would see our own projections in show scenes. Perhaps that would have been better? Something like our projection done on an animatronics face like the Buzz Lightyear animatronic? I guess I'm just tired of 8 pages of complaining, and 0 pages of solutions.

No solution required

The original ending inspired people to reflect on the implications to the global community amidst the still unfolding evolution of global telecommunications networks. The current derivation (in the descent appropriately) is an homage to today's narcissistic, self absorbed, "look-at-me look-at-me" culture. So perhaps, judging by the reaction people report hearing, the folks at WDI know their audience very well after all. I apologize for totally missing the boat on exactly what they are trying to accomplish and would like to thank those (non-Disney) people who educated me as to exactly what is going on with the Spaceship Earth "Rehab".

Guten Tag!

I know exactly how much space there is in that area, and every other inch of that building. I also know there is more than enough space to install an ending appropiate to the attraction. Which it isn`t.
That's laughable that you can overlook the entire attraction for a 150 foot stretch that hasn't changed all that much from it's original form and former rehabs. I can't believe that none of you complainers don't have anything better to do with your time.
Hmm... overlook 150ft? More than that. 20% of the guest ride path has had the majority of its external visuals removed. I believe that is a good reason to complain. Heck, JIYI had more to look at. And that`s saying something.
While you guys and moan, I'm going to go enjoy WDW like the rest of the sane people around here. ;)
I`m very sane, thank you. And passionate about improvements being true to that word. Improvement. As in the ascent portion of the attraction. We have an attraction of 2 halfs now. And they don`t pair well.

Hello Everyone!

As I stated in past posts, I emailed Erin Wallace with my concerns of Spaceship Earth. In addition, I sent the same comments to Siemens and received a response! Here it is:

Dear *********,

Thank you for sharing your correspondence that was provided to Disney. We value all feedback especially that of Epcot frequent visitors and fans.
We will continue to monitor progression of the completed project scheduled for Feb/March 2008.

Best Regards,
Darren Sparks
