Great news -- there is MOST DEFINITELY going to be an Imagineering Field Guide to EPCOT. It is already being written and is reportedly ahead of schedule. Should be out sometime next year. Books for the remaining parks should follow afterward. Now, you'll just have to trust me on this tidbit based on my rep here on the boards (is that a good thing? :p ). I can't spill the beans on my source, but trust me when I say that this person would ABSOLUTELY have to know whether or not the book is being written.

This is GREAT news. Thanks for the heads-up. Now, if I could only find the Imagineering Guide to the MK. :lookaroun It was advertized as 'available in bookstores everywhere' - but I haven't been able to find a copy yet. I really want to pick one (or both) up before our Dec trip.

Any suggestions on where to find these guides? Amazon?

Thanks!

Where did you hear of this confirmation?, I knew there was plans for the other 3 parks to come out (Alex Wright, the author of the MK one stated that at an Imagineer lunch about 2 summers ago) But I haven't read on any offical sites confirming it. Just asking your source.

He's been stating things at imagineer lunches that took place over the past couple of weeks, too. ;)

I can't wait for the Epcot book to come out. I just finished the Magic Kindgdom book and thought it was a good read.

I got mine at Amazon, my guess is that they should still be available.

Cool man... who's the source... you can tell us, no really. The secret is safe with us!
Read post 6, 7, and 8 in this thread and you should be able to figure it out.

Me too!

When I had lunch with Alex a couple of years ago he had mentioned it then as well. Until now I have only referenced him has an Imagineer source but since he's been outted . . .

It was just after one of his Imagineer friends had just released the Haunted Mansion book that he had made the suggestion for the field guides. He was quite pleased that Disney bought into that pitch.

BTW if you haven't done "Lunch with an Imagineer" it is worth saving up to do. The manager of the Brown Derby will make you feel like royalty.

Hooray! An Epcot one! God I hope they include info on old stuff in addition to current things...

Hopefully so. The MK one does include a list of previous attractions that occupied a current one's space. (IE, Buzz's page references Dreamflight, If You Had Wings, etc)

Hopefully I'll be able to get the MK one this October. But this is definitely good news, specially if the book is as good as it's being said to be.
