Trip Report COMPLETED (finally!)....Did we move to WDW? Nope just a two week trip!

Hello WDW Magic friends and welcome to my trip report. I have done a few trip reports in the past of both WDW and Disneyland. My most recent report was a Spring Break trip to WDW. So if you've read one of my reports before....welcome back friends! If you haven't read one before....welcome new friend!

A little background information

People going: Me (Amy) and my husband (Brad), you'll see enough of our pictures later.

"People" we are leaving behind to go on our trip: Our miniature schnauzer Kapono, she keeps trying to come with us though. She stays with my sister and her family and Kapono has some fur cousins to play with there and is well taken care of which is a relief for me and Brad too I guess.

Our travel days July 4 -July 19. The days actually spent in WDW would be the 5th-19th. We live in Wisconsin but very close to Minneapolis/St. Paul so we fly from there. It wouldn't be a bad drive to the airport in the morning, but I like to stay near the airport the night before departure.

Since we were going to be in WDW for so long we got a lot of comments from friends joking with us that we must be moving in, hence the title of the report here.

Our Resort: All Star Movies. We don't spend much time in the room so all we need is a clean place to sleep, shower, and store our stuff. We really aren't pool people, although we do use the pool, but if we built in a lot of pool time we would stay at the Beach Club again! Side note: The first time we ever tried to stay at the Movies we were upgraded upon check in to the Beach Club! We didn't ask for it, the magic just happened, it was the best deluxe accommodations for All Star prices! So now whenever we stay at the Movies we keep our fingers crossed on check in day!

Okay so let's start shall we....

On July 4th we spent most of the day with my sister and her family and left Kapono at her "vacation home" for the next two weeks. We drove up to the Minneapolis airport area by the Mall of America, and made a quick stop at Sam's Club for one more discount Disney gift card. The Sam's Club was closing, actually it was 10 minutes before their posted close time and the lady at the door didn't want to let us in. We literally had to go over to a stand near the register and get a gift card, she even called her manager who said it was okay to let us in. We departed the store 3 minutes before for the posted close time! Take that lady! Anyway, it was dinner time but neither of us wanted to sit in a restaurant we just wanted to relax in the hotel room for the night. So there was a sub place and a Lee Ann Chin (Minnesota based Chinese take out chain), and Chinese won out. So we got our take out and checked into the hotel for the night and ate our take out, and watched a Capital Fourth on PBS. Which was fantastic this year with John Stamos as the host. :inlove:

Us with our Chinese take out!

Our flight left early, but we are early birds so despite being 5 minutes away from the terminal we got there early. Plus we were too excited to sleep! Funny thing, we flipped on the tv while we were getting ready and the Steve Harvey show was on and it was one of the Epcot episodes from earlier in the year that he was recording when we were there in March. We don't normally watch that show and we didn't go to the recording but we saw it being on as a good sign that the Disney gods were with us!
IMG_6519.JPG

We arrived in Orlando after an uneventful flight. We enjoyed some movies and tried to nap but again we were just too excited to sleep!
IMG_3255.JPG

Magical Express load went quick and soon we were HOME!
IMG_6521.JPG

And despite doing online check in and requesting early arrival our room wasn't ready. But that was fine, we had to stop at the front desk any way. I had lots of gift cards in my purse that we wanted to put on our account, we wanted to decline Mousekeeping, and make sure our room had a good position for the 2 weeks. Now we did decline Mousekeeping but we did have our room serviced twice while we were there. We are fairly neat, and I'm always tidying up the room anyway even with Mousekeeping so we figured we could survive without having it every day. Plus with the extra money we would be able to enjoy a good meal or some good drinks at Trader Sam's. So with all that squared away we put our carry ons with bell services and headed to the bus stop with a quick gander at the gift shop.

Day 9: Friday July 13 A Friday in the Magic Kingdom means it is Frontierland Friday!

But Frontierland doesn't open until after extra magic hours, so we do a little Tomorrowland and Fantasyland.

IMG_4123.JPG

On the way to Peter Pan we hear a lady talking to her friend behind us. She was telling her friend to hurry because she didn't want to let the Peter Pan line get too long, she had to walk as fast as she could because she didn't want a lot of people getting in front of her. In my line of view I saw less than 20 people headed to Peter Pan ahead of us. The friend told her she couldn't walk any faster and the lady just kept saying to hurry up. Sounds like a fun friend to hang out with for the day.

Our Peter Pan line was less than 5 minutes.

A little small world

Some Buzz time. I'm terrible at this game so my fun is spinning in the cars and taking funny looking pictures.
PhotoPass_Visiting_MK_412453183251.jpg

Brad is better at the game, but he still likes doing funny pictures.
PhotoPass_Visiting_MK_412453152213.jpg

Some tea cup time for me.
IMG_4158.JPG

We were unable to ride the carousel this time, we could have earlier but we put it off. Then suddenly it was closed. We always take a picture of us on the horses, so it was sad not to do this.
IMG_4129.JPG

We used our fast pass for 7D before heading to Frontierland to celebrate Frontierland Friday!
IMG_7752.JPG

Oh and someone (Brad) was already planning when we could see his friends.

Time to enter Frontierland and enjoy Frontierland Friday!

IMG_7757.JPG

First stop Big Thunder Mountain! Ummmm, nope it was closed and stayed closed for a few hours.
IMG_3138.JPG

Ok plan change: let's relax on a rocker for a bit.
IMG_3141.JPG

Then let's go shootin'
IMG_4162.JPG

After some rootin' tootin' shootin' we played a round of checkers. Brad won, I was hanging in there for awhile. But I get bored with the game and then make silly moves.
IMG_7763.JPG

The view from the checker board table.
IMG_7764.JPG

Hey there Country Bears! He kept trying to steer Brad into the show but we had a fast pass for Splash we would be seeing the Bears later. The rules we have for Frontierland Friday is that we must do every attraction and eat a meal in Frontierland.
IMG_4165.JPG
IMG_4166.JPG

So we had to do Splash Mountain. Now we don't totally dislike it, we just don't like getting wet, especially our shorts. So we rarely ride Splash. And we don't even give Kali River Rapids a thought anymore. So we put cheap ponchos over our bottoms and that part stayed dry, we were okay with our shirts getting a little wet. But my pose was an exaggerated way I feel about getting wet on this ride.
IMG_3160.JPG

By now Big Thunder was still closed so we headed over to Tom Sawyer Island.

Your tour really sounded like fun! (I've always heard great reviews of that one in MK.) I would have loved to see the costume area with the CMs working on the clothing. That must have been great to see all the different colors and designs of fabrics, sparkles, beads. etc. The rest of the tour sounded wonderful as well.

Plus, you wore my favorite t-shirt with the EPCOT icons (even if the tour was at MK, an EPCOT t-shirt is always proper, and in good taste!) ;)

Glad that Brad had a good time on the golf course, too. It's fine to have a day or so with each person doing something different--makes the trip more interesting--more experiences to share! :)
Same, But I would def be more interested in the animatronics.. I would have loved to see the character costume department.. fixing, and maintaining animatronic heads..etc..! :D

Awesome Report, very detailed!

I don’t drink beer, but have poured it when I worked at a ballpark. That is shameful.

Yeah, it wasn't a great pour. The beer did taste good though.

Love the cute Frontierland t-shirts--you two are so funny, dressing like twins! :joyfull:

As for Fantasmic, I haven't seen the show in probably 8 years or more. The last time I saw it, some of the effects weren't working properly, and it was just strange. LOL . . . :p

We are nerds in our matching tee shirts! :) But we are proud nerds! The Frontierland shirts were part of the spirit of the day, we have sheriff badges too that have our names and a cowboy Mickey on them. We bought them at Disneyland for our first Frontierland Friday but I forgot to pack them.

Just caught up, what a great trip so far can't wait to read about the rest!

Thanks, it was a long trip so it might take me awhile to get it all posted, especially with work (school) starting back up.

July 13: More Frontierland Friday

Once we got over to Tom Sawyer's Island we started hearing the screeches of Big Thunder Mt., and sure enough we saw a couple test trains go and then people. Oh well, we had a fast pass and would be able to ride when we got done exploring the Island. There used to be rocking chairs in this spot overlooking Big Thunder, and they were not there any more. I was sad, I had been looking forward to taking in the view and relaxing in this shady spot. So we just stood for a moment and then moved on.
IMG_4174.JPG

We explored the Fort and took the escape tunnel out.
IMG_7771.JPG

A view of the river, we did miss seeing (and riding) the Liberty Belle.
IMG_7772.JPG

Time to cross the barrel bridge.
IMG_7773.JPG

It is kind of fun to go on the barrel bridge, I never feel very graceful doing it though.
IMG_3152.JPG

Then we found some rocking chairs in the area by Aunt Polly's and this was the view.
IMG_7776.JPG

As we were sitting there we noticed some Disney people on the Liberty Belle landing. I was curious as to why they were there, so I zoomed in and took some pictures. I didn't notice any big wigs though. I'm still curious about what they were talking about.
IMG_7781.JPG

Any guesses? Here they are zoomed in.
IMG_7782.JPG
IMG_7783.JPG

While we sat in the rockers we entered our order in the mobile ordering system for Pecos Bills. It was 100% more relaxing to decide on our order sitting in a rocking chair enjoying the scenery then in the restaurant itself. Mobile ordering is fantastic! And then it was time to leave the island.

After we left Tom Sawyer Island we used our fast pass for BIg Thunder. Since it had been down for so long this morning, both the stand by and the fast pass line was quite long. There must of been some sort of water leak or something because our fast pass line was rerouted a different way (and was for the remaining days of our trip).

Here are a couple pictures of what I could see of something going on with the area in the fast pass line.
IMG_7794.JPG
IMG_7795.JPG
IMG_7797.JPG

And a bad selfie at the end of the ride.
IMG_4176.JPG

After Big Thunder we headed over to Pecos Bills and on the little bridge connecting we sent the restaurant the alert that we were there for our mobile order. By the time we got our condiments and table the food was ready. I got the fajita platter and Brad got the tacos (beef, hamburger, and spicy cauliflower). He liked all of them and was impressed with the cauliflower.
IMG_7801.JPG
IMG_7802.JPG

He also got nachos and we got the queso dip (yum). We both got pretty full and ended up wasting some of the chips. We also wasted the big wad of salt and pepper in the picture too, the food was well seasoned and we didn't need them.

Matching shirts are fun... I just ordered some today because Disney is having a 40% off deal, plus free shipping, plus a sale... I got these two tshirts for $12!

Awesome shirts! You two will look very stylish! We do like wearing matching or at least coordinating shirts while on vacation, it just adds to the fun. Brad gets annoyed by the guys that wear the "I don't do matching shirts" shirts at Disney when the rest of the family is wearing matching shirts. He thinks it seems pretentious (the most family friendly word I can type about his thoughts on it), and it does seem silly because it still kind of is a matching shirt. Does that make sense?

Thanks! Couldn't pass it up at $6 a shirt.. I mean, ridiculous! We don't have a trip planned yet... but I've been talking to hubby about one... either sept 2019 or late october/early november. Trying to decide. So I figure I'll just keep the shirts set aside until then. I'm thinking late october would be more comfortable weather wise than early September.

That spicy cauliflower looks amazing... that's my all time favorite veggie!

More Frontierland Friday fun!

After lunch we only had two attractions left to do. We purposely left these until the end, so next up was the Country Bears! B always falls asleep in the show and now that he had eaten a full lunch I was expecting to hear some sleeping going on but he stayed awake!
IMG_4189.JPG

IMG_7807.JPG

IMG_7809.JPG

After the Bears we had one last attraction: the train. We just missed a train but it was okay we sat in the little sitting area at the station and waited for the next one. Then headed out of the Frontier and back to Main Street. Brad had to catch up with his friends, the Dapper Dans.

IMG_7817.JPG

When we got to the Main Street train station we could hear the Dapper Dans, unfortunately they were just finishing their set. B was sad. But he had memorized their show times and we knew that another show was coming up in an hour. So what should we do for an hour? Get ice cream! Here's our All American sundae (with hot fudge and peanut butter) from the Plaza. Originally B just said he wanted a small cone but I wanted the hot fudge and peanut butter, so when I ordered mine he copied me.
IMG_4203.JPG

By the time we were done with our sundaes it was time to get our spot for the Dans.

Sometimes i laugh at people wearing the “I don’t do matching T-shirt’s.” I could see my husband wearing one to be funny. So when i see people wearing that shirt I assume they just have a great sense of humor
