Trip Report COMPLETED (finally!)....Did we move to WDW? Nope just a two week trip!

Hello WDW Magic friends and welcome to my trip report. I have done a few trip reports in the past of both WDW and Disneyland. My most recent report was a Spring Break trip to WDW. So if you've read one of my reports before....welcome back friends! If you haven't read one before....welcome new friend!

A little background information

People going: Me (Amy) and my husband (Brad), you'll see enough of our pictures later.

"People" we are leaving behind to go on our trip: Our miniature schnauzer Kapono, she keeps trying to come with us though. She stays with my sister and her family and Kapono has some fur cousins to play with there and is well taken care of which is a relief for me and Brad too I guess.

Our travel days July 4 -July 19. The days actually spent in WDW would be the 5th-19th. We live in Wisconsin but very close to Minneapolis/St. Paul so we fly from there. It wouldn't be a bad drive to the airport in the morning, but I like to stay near the airport the night before departure.

Since we were going to be in WDW for so long we got a lot of comments from friends joking with us that we must be moving in, hence the title of the report here.

Our Resort: All Star Movies. We don't spend much time in the room so all we need is a clean place to sleep, shower, and store our stuff. We really aren't pool people, although we do use the pool, but if we built in a lot of pool time we would stay at the Beach Club again! Side note: The first time we ever tried to stay at the Movies we were upgraded upon check in to the Beach Club! We didn't ask for it, the magic just happened, it was the best deluxe accommodations for All Star prices! So now whenever we stay at the Movies we keep our fingers crossed on check in day!

Okay so let's start shall we....

On July 4th we spent most of the day with my sister and her family and left Kapono at her "vacation home" for the next two weeks. We drove up to the Minneapolis airport area by the Mall of America, and made a quick stop at Sam's Club for one more discount Disney gift card. The Sam's Club was closing, actually it was 10 minutes before their posted close time and the lady at the door didn't want to let us in. We literally had to go over to a stand near the register and get a gift card, she even called her manager who said it was okay to let us in. We departed the store 3 minutes before for the posted close time! Take that lady! Anyway, it was dinner time but neither of us wanted to sit in a restaurant we just wanted to relax in the hotel room for the night. So there was a sub place and a Lee Ann Chin (Minnesota based Chinese take out chain), and Chinese won out. So we got our take out and checked into the hotel for the night and ate our take out, and watched a Capital Fourth on PBS. Which was fantastic this year with John Stamos as the host. :inlove:

Us with our Chinese take out!

Our flight left early, but we are early birds so despite being 5 minutes away from the terminal we got there early. Plus we were too excited to sleep! Funny thing, we flipped on the tv while we were getting ready and the Steve Harvey show was on and it was one of the Epcot episodes from earlier in the year that he was recording when we were there in March. We don't normally watch that show and we didn't go to the recording but we saw it being on as a good sign that the Disney gods were with us!
IMG_6519.JPG

We arrived in Orlando after an uneventful flight. We enjoyed some movies and tried to nap but again we were just too excited to sleep!
IMG_3255.JPG

Magical Express load went quick and soon we were HOME!
IMG_6521.JPG

And despite doing online check in and requesting early arrival our room wasn't ready. But that was fine, we had to stop at the front desk any way. I had lots of gift cards in my purse that we wanted to put on our account, we wanted to decline Mousekeeping, and make sure our room had a good position for the 2 weeks. Now we did decline Mousekeeping but we did have our room serviced twice while we were there. We are fairly neat, and I'm always tidying up the room anyway even with Mousekeeping so we figured we could survive without having it every day. Plus with the extra money we would be able to enjoy a good meal or some good drinks at Trader Sam's. So with all that squared away we put our carry ons with bell services and headed to the bus stop with a quick gander at the gift shop.

When we got to the Main Street train station we could hear the Dapper Dans, unfortunately they were just finishing their set. B was sad. But he had memorized their show times and we knew that another show was coming up in an hour. So what should we do for an hour? Get ice cream! Here's our All American sundae (with hot fudge and peanut butter) from the Plaza. Originally B just said he wanted a small cone but I wanted the hot fudge and peanut butter, so when I ordered mine he copied me.

We went for Ice cream last night, and I tried to semi recreate that. I had a tin roof sunday and had them add peanut butter sauce. it was really yummy!

As usual the Dapper Dans were very enjoyable and since they were in front of the train station I also enjoyed the view down Main Street.

Then it was time to head out and relax back at the Movies.

Why was it time to relax? Because it was HOT!

We had some packages to pick up so we actually took the bus to the Movies instead of our Music shortcut. So I got to walk past this at the Movies. It is my favorite spot at the resort, when I took my first solo trip I stayed here and when I opened my door this is what I saw and I found it magical.

Time for a nap and then some extended Frontierland Friday!

Thanks! Couldn't pass it up at $6 a shirt.. I mean, ridiculous! We don't have a trip planned yet... but I've been talking to hubby about one... either sept 2019 or late october/early november. Trying to decide. So I figure I'll just keep the shirts set aside until then. I'm thinking late october would be more comfortable weather wise than early September.

That spicy cauliflower looks amazing... that's my all time favorite veggie!

A $6 shirt is a fantastic deal. I confess I did not try the cauliflower, I'm not a big fan of it or broccoli.

That sounds good. We had ice cream last night, hub went to the store and got chocolate peanut butter ice cream and I didn't have hot fudge (nor did I feel like making any) but we did have Magical Shell. That was pretty tasty.

Any ice cream is good ice cream!

Once when I was probably 8, my mom sent me to the store on my bike to get ice cream. So I ended up getting rainbow shebert, and Mint magic shell, (because the greens in the shebert, and the magic shell was green, so it coordinated) Oh the mind of an 8 year old.

Once back at the hotel we had a quick swim, we beat the Argentinian tour group girls there. They showed up en masse when we were almost done and they showed up with their music blaring on their portable speakers. Well, there were a couple girls with portable speakers, some had them next to their ears while relaxing in their loungers, but one girl set her's next to the pool and just blared her music. It was okay, but I have a problem with anyone bringing their speakers and playing their music for everyone in a public space. We have had this happen other places (public pools, beaches...), and it isn't always music we enjoy hearing. Personally I think it is a little rude to play your music really loud, if you want to listen to it use headphones. Oh well, sigh....

We also had a nice nap before heading back to the Magic Kingdom. Once in the Magic Kingdom we used a fp for Buzz and rode the People Mover before heading out.

We also wanted to be like the cool kids and do a selfie on the purple wall.

Then it was time to continue Frontierland Friday in extended place.....Fort Wilderness. The boat over is always relaxing and full of interesting sights.

At some point I would like to stay at Fort Wilderness. I try to talk hubs into it, like renting an RV or getting a cabin but he isn't into the idea. I think it would be fun. We aren't campers but with a fancy RV rental or a cabin, that really isn't camping. But anyway, we made our way to Pioneer Hall.

We had booked the late show because of the Tables in Wonderland discount, so we had to get our refund on that. That didn't take long and soon there were some photopass photographers in the area.

Soon it was also dinner time and the doors opened and we were seated next to the stage and next to the piano player. It was the same spot we had been in last time, which was fine it is a great spot. But now we call it our table! The late show wasn't as full as the earlier shows we had been to before, no one was in the second floor area.

Now it's time to show you a little more of the Hoop De Doo Revue food. Which is very tasty! The ribs have a bit too much BBQ sauce on them for me, but the sauce is good so I just scrape off what I don't want. Hubs was really at the Hoop Dee for 3 things: ribs, chicken, and show. So I got the mashed potatoes! :hungry: I shouldn't eat a lot of mashed potatoes, but they sure were tasty!

Potatoes (mine...all mine!)
IMG_7876.JPG

And the chicken and ribs
IMG_3188.JPG

A little more of the show. If you haven't seen the show before or haven't seen it in awhile, you should go. It is fantastic. If you like Jungle Cruise corny humor, laughing, and eating decent food, this is the show for you. Plus there is unlimited beer.
IMG_7885.JPG

IMG_7888.JPG

And the interactive washboard portion.
IMG_3191.JPG

At the end of the show we had to head back to the MK to get our bus back to the resort and we caught the Electrical Water Pageant in front of the MK.

Your Frontier Friday looked like a wonderful time! It really looked like a perfect day, maybe aside from the heat. The Hoop de doo is now on a must do list for our next trip. C just told me that yesterday actually so I'm glad you give it a good review.

We were there about a week before you I think, when I saw your picture of the water on the ground at BTMRR it brought on a flashback and I remember some water when we were there, I wonder if there's been a problem for a while. And those tours groups at the pools drive me nuts. In the parks they don't bother me at all but at the pool I just want to....., well I'll just keep my opinion to myself :cautious:

We were just talking about how Hoop Dee doo, will be another must do for us again. We also talked about how instead of doing a table service every night, we would do a few 2 credit table service a few nights instead. Do you get the meal plan?

So... I've just emailed my Travel Agent with dates and places for a deposit... geeeeeeeeeeeeee! I could do it myself because I use to be a travel agent, but I like giving her commission, and when I do need things changed, or there are discounts, she's on it!

I think it is kind of fun to have a theme to at least one of our days and Frontier Friday had a good ring to it. Although it started when we went to Disneyland and both of us only had a clean Big Thunder Mt shirt left to wear, and it was Friday. So I joked it could be Frontierland Friday, that's when we bought sheriff badges with our names on it. By the time we had ridden Big Thunder for the 5th time in a row the cast members started calling us Sheriffs.

We are thinking of adding a Tomorrowland day, into our trips it will probably be on Tuesday. I like the sound of Tomorrowland Tuesday.

And YES! I highly recommend the Hoop Dee Doo, it is a fun time. The humor is so corny but we love it!

We haven't gotten the meal plan. I've priced it out and we went with Tables in Wonderland this year and our AP discount too. We do our fair share of table services, but many of them got added right before we went or when we were there. We definitely booked our signatures like California Grill (dinner and brunch) and Yachtsman at the 180 day mark.

So cool that you placed your dates and deposit! I have used a TA before too, sometimes it is easier to have someone watching for those discounts.

Really that's all I need her for, I do my ADR's and FP+'s... but when I'm at work (and work blocks Disney (WHAT!?) it's nice that she's there to jump on the discounts for me! Besides, Disney isn't going to give me commission for doing my own trip! Might as well give the commission to someone I know for the same price.

I stayed in movies for a night when I was 12 during my first Disney "trip" (only one night). I haven't been there since but this just gave me the Disney feels.

Day 10: July 14

It's an Animal Kingdom day. We had fast passes for FOP late so there was no need to join the herd and be crushed by humanity in the already hot and humid morning. Plus we prefer, Expedition Everest for our thrills. So off to Asia we went.

Here was the crowd waiting for the walk to Everest.

That is exactly how I feel about the Movies. I like the big Disney statues on property.

I could go for some Hoop-de-doo-review!

Awesome evening - nice boat ride over; HDDR, then get to see the water parade on the boat ride back!

I could go for some Hoop de doo as well! :)

More of Day 10 (July 14)

After Dinosaur I wanted to check out the backdrops that were being used by Launchpad McQuack and Scrooge McDuck. When we got our pictures with them I noticed that there was some cool detail to them and with people waiting to get their picture taken that was not the time to slowly check it out. But since they weren't out and meeting people yet now was the time. So if you are a Ducktales fan, enjoy some details of the backdrops.
