Trip Report **COMPLETED** December 2021 - "I'll Be Home For Christmas"

I just came back today from a short 3 night WDW vacation. It's going to take me a couple of days edit the pictures and get my thoughts together so that I can start writing this report. It was a really fun trip although it wasn't long enough!!! There were some highs and definitely some lows. But, averaged together, it was a pretty good trip. Despite the heat that I wasn't prepared for LOL.

When: December 12-15, 2021
Why: 19th Anniversary Trip, 50th Celebration, Christmas focus, and just to get away from the house kind of trip
Where: Port Orleans French Quarter
Who: Me and the husband (R)

In some ways, I was pleasantly surprised by this trip. But also really disappointed in some of Disney's recent decisions. I don't think R noticed it as much as I did. He has a horrible memory so each trip is almost like his first one 😂

I totally would have done the same thing with that scallop, the floor may even been considered! LOL.
Also this past trip, for the first time found myself searching for a snack in the shop at the China pavilion and found all the varieties of Lay's chips. The family and I picked a few, shared and and gave our reviews to each other. We decided it would be new tradition. ;) Following along!

It was really fun to do! I wanted one of the cold drinks they had in Japan but a CM was refilling the fridge and didn't seem like she wanted to move so that I could get a can. I would like to try a new snack from every retail pavilion in World Showcase but I keep getting tempted by the outdoor kitchens during various festivals.

I believe I left off the previous entry on our way to our ILL return time for Ratatouille. I found my travel notes and apparently my return time window was 12:45-1:45. R had finished his soft serve coquito ice cream and we fought out way into the new section. OMG soooooo many people were here and the virtual queue return line was stretched all the way to the new bathrooms.

PXL_20211213_180048495.jpg

I was glad that I had purchased an ILL so we could experience this ride with minimal wait. We did like the attention to details in this new section but it was busy that I really didn't get the time to really enjoy it.

PXL_20211213_180440120.jpg

This fountain was so cute!

PXL_20211213_180446640.jpg

There was a family at the ILL check point that had a hard time understanding why they couldn't enter that line. Finally the CM noticed we were waiting to tap in and showed us where the mickey head was. We walked right into the line. Because it was a crowded day and a lot of ILL purchases, our boarding group window kept getting pushed back. Originally, it was 1PM but when I checked again it was up to 3:30. I had already cancelled our lunch and dinner ADRs so our afternoon was wide open.

PXL_20211213_180626801.jpg

PXL_20211213_180636302.jpg

I really wanted to see what the standby line looked like and was glad we had a return time for later in the day. While waiting for our ride vehicle, a CM had to warn one man multiple times about his face mask and he was close to being removed from the attraction. It was very hot and I was missing the feel of the ice cold AC on my face to cool me down. Soon it was our turn to ride.

PXL_20211213_180938987.jpg

We highly enjoyed this ride!!! Yes, it's simple but we still liked it. I wouldn't necessarily pay to ride it again but I was happy to experience it. After our ride, we continued our hunt for Olaf. I wish I had been able to see all of these ornament displays but too many people in the way and I was starting to feel claustrophobic.

PXL_20211213_182246720.jpg

We attempted to listen to this Santa in France but it was hot and too many people and we both just wanted to move on. Turned out, it would be the only Santa we saw LOL.

PXL_20211213_182429054.jpg

We continued on and we stopped at L'Chaim. I was not expecting this line to be so danged long. I got in line while R went to find Olaf. I found him first. I had the Potato Latkes and Sufganiyot. I was expecting the latkes to be more like the potato cakes my Grandma made but they were less crispy skillet hash browns. But the dill sauce was fantastic. The jelly filled donuts were good but nothing I would want again.

PXL_20211213_183612324.jpg

I wanted to stop at Tangierine Cafe for the harissa chicken kebab but the line was long so I said we could stop by later and it. Spoiler alert - I never did :) We stopped by the American Pavilion to get a mead that R wanted to try. He liked it but thought it was slightly too dry for his preferences. People were already starting to line up for the Candlelight Processional.

However, I would NOT miss Shi Wasu bc I HAD to have the New Year Celebration Soba and the Chocolate Banana Boba.

PXL_20211213_185921625.jpg

Both of these were delicious despite it being hot. I enjoyed everything about that soba and the drink was very refreshing. Even R enjoyed both of these. We watched the drummers while I ate. We never did find Olaf in Japan. Anyone know where he was hiding???? At this point, my back was really starting to hurt so we began our way back out of the park and finding Olaf along the way.

Up next - Club Cool experience, resort nap, Disney Springs dinner and back to Epcot

We finished our Olaf scavenger hunt - I saw that the real prizes came in after we left. It's a shame bc I would rather have had the little plates they had intended to use. I really do enjoy the scavenger hunts they have around Epcot during the various festivals.

PXL_20211213_202056242.jpg

We went into the new Creations shop, whatever it's called, but it was too packed for us to do much looking besides walking straight thru and out the other door. But doing so, allowed us to find the new Club Cool. R was sad to find out Bibo was gone from here too since the Coca Cola store was having a supplier issue. But we were excited to try new flavors. But the group in front of us did not want to leave. Seriously, they were acting like they were the only guests at a private party. They were there before we got in but we didn't know why they had a shorter line. But we were about to find out! We waited for them at least 15 minutes. I don't know how long they were there before we got in line behind them. There were 3 men and each tried each flavor 3x with a full cup each round. At some point, 2 of them left but the last man had each flavor again. And then filled up 4 of those little cups full with his favorite drink. I was staring daggers into that man's head

I was never a fan of Beverly but never hated it like others. I thought most of these new flavors were intensely sweet. Except for that drink from China. We both thought it was soooo gross. There was a salty, sourness to it that I did NOT like. It's definitely an acquired taste and one which I did not have! My favorites were the Viva from Moldova and the Russian Sprite.

PXL_20211213_195753692.jpg

By this point my back was beginning to hurt even more despite taking Tylenol so we decided to skip the gift shops for Test Track and Mission Space, which neither of us have been to. We said we would go back after dinner (hint - we didn't do that either LOL). At this point, our Ratatouille boarding group still wasn't close to being called. I don't know if it had broken down at some point but it was moving much more slowly than I predicted.

We got back to the room and I took something else for the pain and we both took a very nice hour long nap. We were getting hungry and we decided to have dinner at Polite Pig. We got in line for a boat and only had short wait until one came.

PXL_20211213_220339424 (1).jpg

I absolutely LOVE arriving to Disney Springs by water! I originally had plans to have dinner at the Boathouse on the Sunday we arrived but cancelled it when I was able to snag one for 'Ohana. One day, I will get to eat here as well :)

PXL_20211213_220440360.jpg

There wasn't a very long line at Polite Pig. Going into this trip, R said that we was going to try their brisket. However, once there he could not say no to his beloved chicken.

PXL_20211213_223059002.jpg

I'm not that much of a meat eater so the menu has never appealed to me all that much. My previous trip, I skipped it and ate at Pepe. But, since Jose Andres hasn't reopened Pepe yet, I had to make do with their Cobb salad. OMG yall, this salad was HUGE!!!! I think my eyes done popped out of my head when the server brought us our food :joyfull:.

PXL_20211213_223056275.jpg

R ended up eating most of the bacon from the salad bc I didn't want it - too meaty and salty for my liking. While we were eating, I checked on Ratatouille bc we were going back to Epcot after dinner. However, whatever problem they had been having was fixed and our boarding group was called. I knew there wasn't anyway for us to make it at that point. And we weren't going to rush our dinner. I was just glad that we had purchased ILL. No food went to waste this night :)

PXL_20211213_225612441.jpg

PXL_20211213_225835687.jpg

I would definitely get that salad again! It had a spiciness to it that most Cobbs are missing. And I thought it would be interesting to compare Cobb salads since I knew I would be getting one the next day from the Brown Derby. We popped into a few stores since we didn't have to hurry back for our boarding group. Saw some Christmas trees at night. Made plans to come back and purchase a few things the next day.

PXL_20211213_230310116.jpg

While waiting for a bus back to POFQ, bc R was getting cold and needed his hoody, we saw the snoap float our way. I was sad to have missed it bc it looked like a great snoap experience based on what we were getting in the bus line LOL.

Up next - Epcot after dark, Skyliner to Riviera, and back to DS

Is that where they have the standby queue for Candlelight Processional? If so, that could be why I didn't see it. It was already roped off with people starting to get in the line. And I've never noticed that photo spot sign LOL.
It probably was part of the queue. It’s directly across the walkway from where the drummers perform.

We didn't have to wait long for a bus from POFQ to Epcot. And R's reaction to seeing Spaceship Earth as we got closer to the park was priceless. However, our driver unloaded the bus at a different area and none of us knew where to go in the dark LOL. Finally, I was like let's head towards the glowing globe. We walked right thru security (have I mentioned how much more I love the security checkpoint procedures?!) and were soon greeted by this gorgeous object.

PXL_20211214_004812877.jpg

PXL_20211214_005053090.jpg

Out of all the changes/additions for the 50th anniversary, the lights on Spaceship Earth were my favorite. In fact, I often forgot there was a 50th celebration happening! We stayed around the globe for a while, taking pictures of every angle. Our goals this night were to do the gift shops in Test Track and Mission Space, holiday overlay at LwtL, maybe ride Soarin again, visit the Seas, and hit the food booths we had missed earlier in the day.

PXL_20211214_005550651.jpg

The construction walls really does make getting a great shot difficult. We never did see the holiday show on this - I think we left too early. We made our way to LwtL. I think I enjoy this ride more than R but even he thought the lights were a nice touch.

PXL_20211214_010840087.jpg

IMG_2255.jpeg

When the ride was over, we discussed going to Soarin bc it was only a 20 minute wait. However, my bravery had deserted me and I was now afraid I might get the highest row of seats and the CM wouldn't let me request the bottom row. So moving on. The line for Spaceship had dropped from 25 to 10 minutes so we went over there as R didn't remember any of it.

PXL_20211214_020517816.jpg

I was getting overheated in the mask so we went to the coldest place we knew - The Seas. We followed Nemo to the aquarium. And there's the ice cold air I've been craving! We really enjoyed our time here tonight. It wasn't very crowded and we could take our time in front of the tanks.

PXL_20211214_013755833.jpg

And I finally was able to get a good picture of the hammerhead shark.

PXL_20211214_013959139.jpg

We had a nice discussion with a CM about this particular ray. Apparently, she's the young child of the much bigger mama I didn't get a chance to find. It's her favorite location to hang out and will get annoyed if another one takes "her" place.

PXL_20211214_013957221.jpg

We couldn't leave without taking a lot of pictures of R's favorites, the seahorse. Back during our first or second trip, we filled our camera's memory card with seahorse pictures so it's become a running joke between us.

PXL_20211214_014724415.jpg

We spent too much time watching Spaceship Earth and in the Seas to be able to do everything we had planned in Epcot. The park was open until 10PM with 10-midnight for deluxe guests. But we were content with what we had accomplished and didn't want to get stuck in the after fireworks crowd. So we did something new to us - the Skyliner to Riviera, since we hadn't seen it since opening.

It was probably a little after 9PM and we wanted to go back to DS to buy something R wanted from the Coca Cola store but we needed to do it before they closed. So we decided to skip going to Caribbean Beach Resort for our fav non alcoholic beverage, the Tropical Paradise. Next time! There was no line for the Skyliner, however, they still put us in with another family. Why?

IMG_2292.jpeg

I wasn't sure if I would be able to ride this because of my vertigo and claustrophobia but I was curious to see how I would do in the dark.

PXL_20211214_024115216.jpg

It wasn't bad. Until we stopped at the highest point over the street and the fear immediately kicked in. I was trying to control my crazy bc I was with the other family. Luckily, it only lasted a few minutes. But I don't think I would be able to do it during the day. I would need to test it again before staying at one of the Skyliner resorts. We did get to see the start of Harmonius and it was a very interesting experience to see it from the air!! It was still going when we got off the floating tin can so we stopped for more pictures.

PXL_20211214_024931758.jpg

We walked around Riviera a little bit, not too much bc it was getting late but enough to know that I wasn't very impressed with the public spaces. I think the GF and AK lobbies are more impressive. I've only seen the rooms from others pictures but, honestly, I would be just as happy to stay in the renovated rooms at Coronado Springs! We made our way to the buses (dang this are located a fair distance away from the lobby lol). We had another view of the fireworks while waiting for the next DS bus, which we just missed.

PXL_20211214_025929588.jpg

Sorry yall but I got to complain about something trivial and petty for a moment. Why does this new, deluxe resort have these horrible backless benches?! Do they not want you to have back support while you wait 20 minutes for a bus? I'm not even sure if I would've paid attention to it if I wasn't have backpain this day but I definitely noticed tonight! Maybe I'm unreasonable to expect seating at a bus area of a deluxe resort to have backs. Rant over :)

PXL_20211214_025823428.jpg

We made our way to DS. I was hoping for another good snoap experience but it wasn't meant to be. I found a store that had the Christmas tree trail map so I had that for the next day. Coca Cola for the hoody R wanted but they didn't have his preferred size. I was tempted by this spirit jersey but I decided against it.

PXL_20211214_032035372.jpg

PXL_20211214_032043804.jpg

Cherry Coke is my absolute favorite soda of all time. I wish they had a caffeine free version because I haven't been able to have one for years.

PXL_20211214_031729871.jpg

We made our way to the boats before they stopped for the night. R found a running store that he was excited to explore. We didn't have time this night but I promised him we would come back on Tuesday.

PXL_20211214_031209605.jpg

We got to the DS boat docks and had a 15 minute wait bc we just missed one. But we did get the last boat of the night. The captain was hilarious when he said "if you have plans for a relaxing joy ride along the Sassagoula and expect to be brought back to DS, you're SOL." 😂 The relaxing boat ride back to FQ was a great way to end the day.

Did I do everything that was on my notecards? Again, no. But no complaints. We did all of our must do rides including Ratatouille. Missed most of the gift shops. Didn't see any full holiday storyteller. We completed the scavenger hunt. Experienced Club Cool. Ate most of the items we wanted at the Holiday Booths except the eggnog porter, pork schnitzel, coquito beer, food from the Mexico pavilion, Harissa chicken, Snickers-doodle, and the beef bourguignon. But some of those items were just too heavy for that day's temperatures and I would've been miserable if I had them. I didn't have any special 50th treats or any of my fav items from Les Halles or the brioche ice cream sandwich R wanted. He happily traded it for the coquito soft serve! He almost had another one before leaving the park but he remembered it would be pushing his lactose intolerance too far lol.

Up next - Tuesday, December 14 - Hollywood Studios, Disney Springs, and a visit to PO Riverside

Following along and enjoying your report!
I loved your photos of the castle and fireworks.
And I totally agree about cherry coke. I tell everyone there's going to be a can of cherry coke in my coffin! 🤣

Thanks for following along! I actually went to the Coca Cola website and found a Cherry Coke t-shirt I like more than the spirit jersey :) I'm probably going to get it next month for my bday LOL.

Tuesday, December 14th

Hollywood Studios was opening at 8:30AM for resort guests this morning and I had to wake up to get an ILL for Rise of the Resistance, the most important thing for us to do in HS bc that's all R really wanted to experience. I signed in on my phone and all ready to go. I was lucky enough to get a return time for 9:35AM right at 7AM. However. The app STILL wasn't allowing me to pay for it, just like what happened with Ratatouille. By the time I got my husband's iPhone and logged into the account just 10 minutes later, the earliest return window I could get was 6:25-7:25PM. To say I was mad was an understatement. Why does Disney IT always have so many danged issues?! I was still happy that I got an ILL. The plans were originally to rope drop Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway (my must do in this park) and then finish Toy Story Land. But seeing how fast ILL was selling within just 10 minutes, I decided to change plans and rope drop Rise instead. We got to the park around 7:30AM and they let us thru the gates at 7:45. We followed the masses to Galaxy's Edge.

PXL_20211214_125720102.jpg

We got into the line at 8AM. And this is where my morning went to H - E - double hockey sticks 😂 The ride kept breaking down and the line would stop. At somepoint in the queue my bladder decided to wake up. I was torn. Do I leave the line to go to the bathroom and possibly miss getting on? Or do I hold it and possibly have a pee-mergency in the queue bc we did not know when the line was going to be back up. This little block became our friend. But also it's a reminder of my bladder's downfall as we were located behind the waterfall LOL.

IMG_2295.jpeg

Finally, I was like I have to go now. I told R to stay behind so that he wouldn't miss it and I would try to meet up with him later. Getting out of that line was an obstacle and a half. Climbing over ECVs, weaving around people, stepping over sleeping kids - I felt like I had completed an Olympic event by the time I found an opening. I asked the nearest CM where the closest bathroom was and if it would be possible to rejoin my husband. She said yes and pointed to the next CM and told me to talk to him. I went to that one, introduced myself so he would know I wasn't a line jumper, and then ran to the bathroom. And I know everyone has experienced that feeling of relief only for something to happen that interrupts the urine and causes anxiety LOL. For me, that morning, it was my husband when he told me the line was moving. OMG why???!!!!!! So I make my bladder hurry and then run back to the CM. He asked if R could videotape where he was in the line so they knew where to take me. But R didn't hear me video calling. But he answered the regular call and sent me this picture of where he was located. Then he called over another CM to escort me to the correct area.

IMG_2301.jpeg

I asked him to stop moving. The CM told me to wait next to some gates and she had to go around the long way to unlock them. She opened the door and motioned me inside. I was getting to see the backstage areas yall!!!! She told me that R was currently between 2 doors and to start walking. She opened a door that opened into a tucked away exit and we stood there waiting for R to walk past us. Less than 20 seconds later, he was walking by me. Glad I got there when I did bc we weren't too far from the loading area! And at this point I have to make a confession. I'm not a fan of Star Wars. In fact, I don't even like any of the movies. The whole franchise bores me. I do, however, like Grogu, BB8, and the other droids and creatures. But R had gotten into them and was super excited. It was now 9:15AM and we were getting ready to ride. I wasn't happy about wasting the entire extra park time waiting for a broken ride but I was happy R got a chance to ride in twice, with the ILL I had purchased for later in the day.

IMG_2308.jpeg

And I had a great view of Rey. I couldn't help but wonder to myself - how could the same company that has such crappy IT issues be the same company that can produce this? 🤣

PXL_20211214_141643392.jpg

I had watched Disney vloggers riding Rise and talking about it but I was still completely blown away by this ride! I knew my good friend back home, who is a total SW fanatic, would instantly fall in love with it. I think this part of the ride was one of my favorites. I was just expecting to be herded into a room. I didn't realize how immersive this section would be. I got some video of this part of the ride and I thought it was so neat.

PXL_20211214_141849291.jpg

R was speechless and enjoying every minute of it. Soon the door would open and we were brought here.

PXL_20211214_142159425.jpg

We had to get our pictures taken with the Stormtroopers, of course. I think R managed to get out a "wow" before we were moved to the loading area. No pictures from the rest of it but we were lucky to get seats in the front row. We loved this ride so much and were so happy we got to ride it early in the morning. However, my bladder was reminding me we had some unfinished business so we had to find a bathroom in Galaxy's Edge. I wanted to get a picture of the bathrooms but it was too busy and I didn't want to be that person lol. We were getting hungry but wanted to ride Smuggler's Run before the line got worse. If you look closely in the right corner of the picture, you will see the camera crew that was recording some TV show. I never did get to see what was filming but we did see people holding signs letting everyone know we were being recorded.

IMG_2337.jpeg

I think it turned into 40 mins right when we entered the queue. This was a slow moving queue but we finally got there. And we were lucky enough to be the pilots for our first ever ride. I knew I was going to be horrible bc of my vertigo so I was going to ask one of the people with us if they wanted to take my position as pilot but then I heard them talking about how many times they've ridden it and scores, etc and figured they could just deal with my bad piloting. R had the up/down controls and I had the left/right. We were not good yall but we had a ton of fun :)

We ran into Rey.

IMG_2333.jpeg

We didn't have a park map so we had no clue where we were LOL. But we ran into the filming crew again.

IMG_2338.jpeg

We did stumble across the Milk Cart and we got the blue and green milks. I preferred the green milk while R liked the blue. We accidentally found the exit to Toy Story but it was getting closer to our 11:45 ADR for the Brown Derby and didn't have time to ride anything. So we found a seat close by to finish our milks and people watch. It was getting really hot too, the park was incredibly crowded. We discussed leaving early since all we had remaining was MMRR and Rise ILL at 6:25 and come back in the evening. I was looking at the app and saw that Rise was down again. We would soon learn that it would be a repeated pattern that day. We were able to check in early for lunch and were soon seated.

Up next - Lunch at the Brown Derby, resort visits, Disney Springs, and back to HS

Here's the drinks I didn't have room for in the previous post.

PXL_20211214_153044949.jpg

So while we were waiting we saw these storm clouds and was wondering if it would rain on us today. We brought our rain jackets just in case but I was hoping it would cool things down a litle.

IMG_2342.jpeg

After we checked into the Brown Derby - on my husband's phone by the way bc the app still wasn't fully functional on my Android - we were seated.

IMG_2344.jpeg

I know who most of these people are but my mind was not on point that day. I had a migraine the night before so my memory recall was still a little fuzzy. My Grandma and Mom would've been so disappointed lol.

PXL_20211214_160625522.jpg

I wish we had gotten a picture of the bread they brought bc that was really good. I know I'm not supposed to have gluten but I was hungry and the bread was there :) We didn't need to look at a menu bc we both knew we were getting the Cobb salad. I wanted a larger portion from the size I had from their lounge in 2019 and R wanted to try it. He got his without the bleu cheese.

PXL_20211214_162323421.jpg

Just as good as I remember!! I had fun comparing this Cobb to the one I had the previous day at Polite Pig. For ease of eating, Brown Derby wins hands down. Just mix the salad and you're good to go. The finely chopped lettuce was much easier to eat. The Cobb at Polite Pig was larger but took more work and effort to eat. I preferred the toppings on the Brown Derby but the dressing was better at Polite Pig bc of the spiciness. Overall, I would call it a tie. We both wanted dessert but couldn't agree on what to get. So I got the grapfruit cake and R got the creme brulee.

When the waiter brought out this cake, I couldn't stop by surprised "Oh my goodness!!!" and he started laughing and said it was a really large slice. They need to put that on the menu! I tried my hardest but it was impossible for me to eat this entire thing by myself :)

PXL_20211214_170312937.jpg

R thoroughly enjoyed his dessert and had no problems finishing it.

PXL_20211214_170315598.jpg

It took longer than I was expecting and we didn't leave until close to 1:30PM. I did remember this time to pay with my Disney Visa to get 10% taken off the total. On our way out, I stopped to get a picture of this decor.

PXL_20211214_173601857.jpg

I was excited to come back and see the park after dark. But we were ready to leave for the time being bc it was hot, people were everywhere, with Rise still down the lines for everything else had substantially increased. The plans were to walk to the Boardwalk area resorts and see their Christmas decor. I wanted to see the gingerbread carrousel.

PXL_20211214_174438518.jpg

We got to the Boardwalk and after some arguing bc R was trying to tell me I was going the wrong way (I wasn't!) and then proceeded to take me the incorrect way, we found the lobby.

PXL_20211214_175846782.jpg

I really liked this tree. I like the Boardwalk resort and would love to stay there during a future trip. Fingers crossed! We decided against going to the Beach and Yacht Club and go to DS instead. There was a pair of shoes R wanted to buy from the running store that he saw the night before so off we went. Didn't have to wait long for a bus to come.

When we arrived at DS, I went to get a new map for the Christmas Tree trail while R went to try on shoes. Star Wars tree for the Star Wars focused day. After much time in the store looking at shoes and socks, while I was discussing weather with the employee, R finally made up his mind and bought a pair of shoes.

This Moana tree was one of my favorites in DS area. Around this time, it started raining and my new map was ruined. But I stayed with it and had plans to recreate it with the new, dry map that was in my resort room.

I had to get a pic with the M&Ms. I was tempted to get a bag of sweets but decided against it after that dessert I had for lunch :)

I enjoyed the holiday decor at DS more than I thought I would because of little touches like this.

I do miss the Downtown Disney from my first trip in 2012 but I have to say the springs are a great addition!

PXL_20211214_191553468.jpg

We decided to try our hand at World of Disney. Despite this day being the 3rd day we visited DS, we still hadn't gotten to the Disney store.

IMG_2353.jpeg

It was crowded and we didn't see any merchandise we had to have. Usually, I have to fight the urge to buy everything but not this trip. And I was disappointed in the 50th merchandise, as well. We wandered around but quickly found ourselves out the other side of the store with no purchase to show for it.

Another Orange Bird!!! Don't mind if I do get picture #3 of the trip LOL. I wish I could know what triggered my major case of side eye though....

My husband usually takes the worst pictures of me but bless him for trying :) We headed to the boat dock to go back to POFQ. We were still full from lunch so nap time it was. Our ILL for Rise wasn't until 6:25-7:25PM and we still had plenty of time. After a very nice nap, we had dinner at our resort. Again, the dining area was almost empty with only a few other families.

R had the chicken parm and I had the gumbo. I preferred the gumbo to their jambalaya.

And the CM at the register let me have one of these little bead dogs that looked like a balloon animal. So cute!

More pictures of PO French Quarter on the way back to the room. This fountain near our building (7) reminded me of those in the Casitas at Coronado Springs - except for the frogs spitting water :)

We barely saw guests over near us and never heard anyone at night and the parking lots were mostly empty. When we got back to our room we read the Tragical Express letter left on our door that morning letting us know we would be picked up at 2:40PM for our 5:40 flight back home. I wasn't actually sad about leaving bc I had concerns about my dog and friend back home watching him. Things just felt off and I was anxious to get back home.

It was getting cloudy again. The rain that got us at DS looked to be coming back. I was almost wishing it would in the hopes of clearing out HS of crowds LOL. However, it did not rain again and the crowds stayed.

These are the running shoes R bought in case anyone was interested. Wore them at HS to try to break them in before his first run when we got back home, which was getting closer each minute!!!!

PXL_20211214_213809120.jpg

And I was, indeed, made in the 80s 🤣 So glad to finally get a chance to wear this shirt to Disney LOL.

Soon we made our way to the bus stop. R's feet were very happy the bus stop was so close to us bc his previous shoes were beginning to hurt. He brought a spare pair so I'm not sure why he continued to wear the same uncomfortable pair for multiple days....

And we got the special 50th overlay for the first time this trip!

It was around 6PM and this was the first time we had to go to Riverside for pick up before going to the parks. And I forgot how many bus stops are there. But looking at it as we were driving around reminded us how much we loved that resort. We made plans to go to Riverside at the end of the day instead of going directly back to our resort.

I think we got into HS by 6:30 so we still had time to get to Rise. It had been down most of the afternoon so we were concerned the ride either wouldn't be back up or would break again while we were in line.

PXL_20211214_231657580.jpg

I think I enjoyed the Christmas decorations at HS more than I did at MK or Epcot. I honestly didn't notice the ones at HS that much during the day but they really shine at night ;)

We started making our way to Galaxy's Edge when I saw the Potato Land photo spot and no one in the room. We ran in to take a very quick maskless picture. We found our way to Galaxy's Edge and got into a super long line for Lightning Lane. I think we waited maybe 20-30 minutes by the time we got into the line bc of all the downtime and ILL purchases. I overhead the CM holding the sign at the back of the line say "man, I don't know how this even happened" in reference to another CM looking incredulous at the line. But, this time I had a better timed bathroom break and didn't worry about it. I learned my lesson :)

IMG_2363.jpeg

And guess what? There were no more ride break downs :) We were lucky enough to get the front row again. However, we soon learned that this ride has 2 different ride experiences and we were on a different side than the one that morning!!! That was a wonderful surprise and how fortunate for us to be able to ride this twice in one day, both in the front row, and experience both sides? R was over the moon. Soon it ended and we continued our explorations of Galaxy's Edge.

We still didn't have a park map and had no frickin clue where we were or where anything was located. But we strolled into some gift shop that had these items.

And these series of somethings that R took multiple pictures of.

PXL_20211215_000803221.jpg

And this is where I lost interest LOL. As previously stated, I'm not a fan of Star Wars. I've watched bits and pieces of all of them but they have never kept my interest. I fell asleep in the theater while watching The Last Jedi :)

PXL_20211215_000909753.jpg

There's still a lot we didn't get to see bc of the crowds. But we still had to do standby for my must do, MMRR, and try to do Alien Swirling Saucers and Toy Story Mania (when did they drop Midway from its name?), and see the Tower of Tower before the park closed at 9PM. We had about 1.5 hours remaining and figured we could do it all. We accidentally found the exit out into Toy Story again (how convenient).

The line for A.S.S. was really short on the app so we hopped in line.

PXL_20211215_001321369.jpg

PXL_20211215_001330085.jpg

And somehow the 5 minute wait turned into 15 minutes. Not sure what happened there but okay. Since we were right there and the line was short we decided why not.

PXL_20211215_003218044.jpg

Big mistake that would come back to haunt me later. The line for MMRR was not going down and was consistently 45 minutes all evening. So we skipped over Mania and beelined towards MMRR. Line was long but moved quickly.

PXL_20211215_004828963.jpg

And had to take a picture of the movie poster to explain our earlier pics with a fake potato

PXL_20211215_005750454.jpg

We, well really me, was very happy to see the movie in the loading area and to get the full attraction experience. We got on the train and prepared ourselves for a fun trip. We both enjoyed this ride. Not sure I would pay to ride it but it's one I would do multiple times in a trip. I had a huge grin on my face and totally immersed in the experience when we got to Daisy and the dancing room.

PXL_20211215_012252018.jpg

And then we stopped. We kept waiting for a message to play telling us to all stay in the seats and the ride would start shortly. Never happened. And I knew that couldn't have been good. Then we heard an automated message saying "powering down" and then a CM came over the loudspeaker to let us know that we would be escorted off the ride and no pictures or photographer. So frickin close to the end of the ride. I was upset, not going to lie. This was my one must do in HS and I didn't get a chance to experience the entire thing. And it took forever to clear off the ride. There was an elderly man that needed a wheelchair and neither of the CMs could reach anyone so one had to go to another back room and request one be brought. I probably would've enjoyed my first ride break down if I had ridden the attraction more than once :) Eventually they got everyone unloaded and taken to a room to get a free ILL for the following day to be used at any park or attraction. But we were leaving. The CM said it might work for that evening but we looked at the clock and there was only 10 minutes remaining of park hours and knew we wouldn't be able to make it back to Rise in time. So we just left. But I didn't want that to be my last experience of the trip so we hauled butt to Toy Story Mania and I had a fun time losing.

IMG_2376.jpeg

I always start off in the lead but somehow lose it in the last 2 game rooms. The park was now closed but we still had to see the Tower of Terror. One the way there, R took some pics of the advertisements for me. Had to have this one bc I'm a Coca Cola girl from a Coca Cola family :)

IMG_2378.jpeg

And these vintage holiday billboards
