Doors. Thats right doors. It has been reported that a full size WDW Theme Park Tram has been spotted in Central Shops with lockable doors for passengers. Only thing I can say is that I hope we never see these trams in the actual parks. I feel this would be a major guest inconvinence and a waste of time and resources.

I say bring it on - it'll force Disney to run more trams and stop acting like a "Courtesy Tram" is something that comes every 20mins at Epcot.

Plus the parking people will actually have to do something to earn a living. Sure, it's just pushing a button, but to date they're certainly not earning that $12 to park yet.

Well then, if it's not so hard, why don't you just stay out in the shadeless 90 degree sunny parking lot and stand on the back of a tram and try to keep people from jumping off the tram and NOT jumping on after the tram has started moving all day long.

Come on, show a little respect for the brave men and women in yellow, will you?

When they actually show me to a parking space after trying to charge me for parking after 5pm, then perhaps i'll care. Till then they can find a new line of work if they want my sympathy.

People drive down the lanes backwards at Epcot and end up in unopened lots in spaces facing the wrong way because they don't bother. It's been brought to the attention of everyone - no one cares. "Safety first" is not their priority.

How is it safe to allow people to drive the wrong direction down a one-way lane because you didn't direct them to parking after 5pm even after you charged them to park?

Edit: This is not a one-time occurrence either. Just look to the lots that aren't supposed to be parked on any day and look for backwards cars.

i work in parking. and they have talked about putting doors on at least since i started last year, i was told they would have them in the parks by the summer (of '07). and i think its a great idea...it will stop the guest from complaining when we tell them they have to fold up their strollers and move their small children to the inside of the seats. those strollers can go flying out of the tram even if they are folded up because it has happened on tram i was on. guest will leave their children in the strollers and not even hold on to it. so i really dont care if its a huge inconvenience to the guest, its about safety. a guy on a tram almost has his head ran over because he tried to get off while the tram was moving and tumbled out, all because he dropped a pair of sunglasses

The only "tram" that is sitting outside of central shops at the moment is a "Backlot tour" vehicle that is being used for parts so I'm sure someone mistook it and just assumed... Yay for wild and crazy rumors :lookaroun

wow. Bravo.....By the way, what's the number for Cyberdyne?

and there IS no 5PM parking rule. They close when they close.

I don't even see why people use trams at Epcot other than ridiculously busy days where the lots a bit further are used. Unless you're having a hard time walking for whatever reason the entrance to the park is a 5 min walk

Has Disney ever thought of creating a spot on the tram to set strollers. If they had a small open car at the tail of the tram, parents can push in a stoller and then hop the tram. It may even be quicker since most of time they wait for that one parent who is in a panic trying to get their kid and stuff out, then can't figure out how to fold the stroller with 200 people watching them.

You have got to be kidding me. You realize these people work 40 hour weeks in the freezing cold or in the sweltering heat all day and don't get paid in an hour what it costs for 1 car to get parked in that same hour? Merf you never cease to amaze me.

Is this in response to a particular incident or issue?

I can certainly see how a safety issue might be in play here. Either way, if it is seen as a safety problem, then I applaud Disney for being proactive and getting it right.

Goes both ways - it's somehow my fault they're not getting paid a decent wage?

Perhaps you should discuss that with the folks charging $12 for parking and not paying the people working the lot. Seems awful greedy.

I worked at Magic Kingdom Parking for my College Program in Fall of 06', they actually had a model of this tram car out in the Happy lot and they were giving out fast passes for those guests that took a survey about it. Glad to hear there is something happening from that experiment.

Edit: found the news report about the guy who fell off.

If people can't learn how not to fall off or lose stuff from the tram it's their own fault, why does Disney have to go through all of this effort to make everything idiot-proof?

Next they'll put cages around the boats in IASW and Pirates so no one can jump into the water :brick:

I prefer to walk, it's the quickest way:)

And Merf, put yourself in their place, it most certainly isn't the most glamorous job in the world, but they get out there and do it. I've never had problems with cast members in parking.

^ I agree with you 100%.

I always hated "just pressing that button" we had to do it 2 times during the morning and 3 times a trip a night and still people would drop something from the tram and demand we make an E-Stop just for Turkey Leg :brick::hurl: oh yes people did yell at us for that. One of the many reasons I took great pleasure in cross training at Mickey's Gift Station. I always felt I wasn't making Magic in parking however after my first guest that stood up on the tram freaked me out enough I got switched in the Gift Station at the TTC. Not shooting parking down but its really just made for some people that can handle that, kind of like putting a not so people person at Customer Service desk, sometimes its just not meant to be.

As for stupid people, there is always that one persons who thinks that rules just don't apply to them, thats the "Im not going to fold my stroller" "Im not waiting in line for this Tram thing anymore (proceeds to bum rush the tram)" "What do you mean this tram doesn't stop in Guests with Disability parking" I really felt beaten down after a days work (as a CP that was 10+ hours a day). Im not asking for you feel remorse for me but really Parking is all about teamwork and safety, I remember the part in the OG that said we were resposible not only for the comfort but for the safety of all hundreds of thousands of guests not only in the morning hours but as the came out at night, just a strong as they went in, thats what they are getting paid for.
