Colder Weather at WDW

Flame retardant: I realize that many of the forum members live in a colder climate, so don't cringe at my questions.

Doesn't the cooler weather make WDW more enjoyable during the holiday season? I like the way that the decorations and music are matched by the cooler temperatures. I live in South Florida, and the cooler temps are a bit of a novelty.

Also, does colder weather, in a sense, make the trip more of a disappointment for Northerners?

We've gone in past years for the holidays and it's been cold and we've gone and it's been sweltering. I prefer it to be cooler since it feels more seasonal. It's hard to get into the holiday spirit when you're sweating and in shorts.

Personally, I'm hoping some of the cooler weather holds out. I like having a semblance of winter and it's hot enough here the rest of the year already, don't need it hot in December!

This is what I'm saying!

I live in Northwest Florida, it has been cold here for a few days now & I'm already over it. I am not happy about the temps for Monday & Tuesday next week when I will be there. I hate cold weather though, 65 is about as cold as I ever want it to be.

I think it makes it MUCH better

I live in South Florida, and I'm always thrilled when one of my trips to the World includes some cool weather. I was there in January of this year when nights were in the 20's, and I was still very comfortable & had a great trip (though some of the more exotic, tropical vegetation at AK took some damage).

When I was just at the Food & Wine Festival in early November, it was not as cool as I had been hoping, but the 50's and 40's at night was still quite nice, and made the holiday decorations seem more appropriate to me.

Even though I almost always have an Annual Pass, I now never go during the summer months - just too hot, humid and miserable - so yes, give me cool / cold at Disney & I'm happy as can be.

First off, nice signing by the Sox yesterday. I was hoping the Yanks would grab Crawford, but glad they didn't for what he got.

Anyway, I live in NY and used to visit every summer, but in 08 we went in December and it was about 70-80 every day and dipped to the low 60's high 50's at night and I loved it! It was great to spend the day in shorts and a t-shirt then grab a sweatshirt at night and see all the lights and all.

Then we went last year and it was in the 50's and 60's all week, plus a lot of rain, and I felt like it was a big let down. Being from NY I think it's great to get away to some nice weather during the winter, but that didn't happen. I still had a great time, but the cold weather sucked. Also going on EE in 50 degree weather was awful

When we go at the end of February/start of March, I'm hoping for temps between 65-80.

I don't think I would be to devastated by cold at WDW, but it would make it harder for me to be outside for long, since I have incredible asthma. Alos, If I'm going to Florida from Mass, I want heat dang it!

I want to be able to wear shorts in February and brag about it when I come home to snow and slush.

Just a Ma____________ saying is all.

I'm from the Northeast. When I go to FL, I don't want to be bundled up, so if it's cold at Disney, yes, it's a big disappoinment. We went in Dec one year and high temps were in the low 50's and we didn't see much sun. One morning and the wind chill was 25! Heck, I could have stayed home and had similar temps. We spent the week bundled up & I even had to buy gloves one day. It was not an enjoyable trip at all.

We try to go in Oct or early Nov in hopes of avoiding such cool temperatures.

Heading to WDW on Saturday and I'm sure hoping that it warms up (as the forecast is predicting anyway). Up here in NY, we've had tons of snow this past week and the windchill has been as low as the teens. It's cold! Cooler temperatures indeed feel like Christmas, but that's why I'm headed to Florida- to NOT have that :animwink:

We went to WDW in Jan-Feb 2009. I thought it was SO cold. The temps dropped into the 30s and 40s at night, so sitting waiting for fireworks was awful. Yes, I'm "used to" cold weather, but we literally run from our heated house to our heated car (and vice versa) and don't spend much time in the middle. I would never dream of walking or standing around without a heavy coat, hat, gloves, scarf, etc. even for only a few minutes.

Disney to me = warm! (or should anyway!)

I'm from Texas, and, as PryncessLace said, 65 is as cold as I ever want it to be. With that said, a day at WDW is better than a day anywhere else.

We went in January 2009 and layered and bundled up for the morning and shed as the day warmed up. It wasn't fun with the wind blowing after the sun went down, though. Also, although with all the planning we did, we weren't expecting to wipe frost off Dumbo's seat first thing in the morning to prevent wet bottoms. :ROFLOL:

I have gone in Jan the past three years and will be going again next month. I have also been in the dead of august...so I have seen every temperature WDW has to offer (Last year alone my Heat Index to Wind Chill differential was 80 degrees). I don't really mind the heat to a certain point, and I am not a big fan of cold (considering I come from NJ and went to school in upstate NY)...but I do enjoy when WDW is a bit on the cooler side because of all the time you spend outside. However, when I was there last Jan and the temps rarely made it out of the 40's...it was more miserable than the heat of the summer. The heat might be uncomfortable, but with moderation it is tolerable and there are a number of ways to cool off. When you are going through a park that is literally freezing, you feel it every step of the way.

I don't go to Florida for the weather, I go for WDW.

Colder temps are OK with me. Sure I like to hang out at the pool and sit in the sun. I don't want freezing temps, but cooler weather is just fine with me.

I do get a kick though when it is 55 F out, and all the locals are in big coats and hats and gloves.

I am going March 6-11, 2011.... let me tell you, I want a blizzard to fall the day after I leave, and snow the whole week... so when I come back tan I can relish in the glory.

I live in South Florida and I love going to WDW when the weather is cooler. It makes it more enjoyable when you aren't sweating to death! If I wake up to a cool and sunny day - the first thing that I think is "Today is a Disney day" - the perfect way to enjoy it.

No bear in mind that I have been to WDW when it was about 20 degrees - and that it a bit much, but, as long as you bundle up - everything is fine!

50-60 degrees I'm cool with but 30-40 degrees not so much. We've been here the last 12 days and the 30-40 degree mornings and evenings are just not fun!
