I don't want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member.

I'd only add that I don't want to belong to any club that will accept Jimmy Thick as a member... :D

I think I'd sooner invest the money in a time-share or vacation home. I've been to Club 33 in DLR (as a guest) and it was cool. The difference is that is where Walt Disney entertained guests when he wanted to impress them (and let them drink alcohol). A similar location at WDW would be like the United lounge at Ohare. Unless they put it in the castle.

And I can get completely hammered in luxury.

You answered my question. I would very much like to be able to eat and drink in luxury. Cindy's used to do it for me (sans the drink), but now that they are a fixed menu restaurant MK is in need of something like this (especially the drink, I understand the concept of no booze, but my thoughts are that if you limit it and/or price it high enough you eliminate the problems.)

I would love to see it go in the area that is the old Fantasyland Skyway building or in another level of the Castle.

Is there anymore room in the Castle now with the suite and Cindy's?

Your thoughts?

My thought on this... I get hammered regularly in more exclusive, luxurious, and expensive places than Club 33. Club 33 is nice, but after all the buildup on fansites, etc... it's somewhat disappointing.

As if we needed another reminder that classism is alive and well in America. Shoot, you can even buy your way into carpool lanes in this country. I like luxury as much as anyone, but "paying for exclusivity" is flat out elitist classism. This would bum me out about WDW if they did it. It already bums me out about DL. For all those folks who "love this" idea, where's Marie Antoinette when you need her, eh?

Is it right that some people must eat hamburgers while others eat steak?

Tell me about it Comrade :zipit:

I'm quite leftist, and tend to avoid public notions of luxury, but rewards have to be in place for a person to keep working. Even if it means rewarding yourself.

Some say that a Capitalist economy can't thrive in a socialist political environment.

Some people also don't have a brain.

Me, I'll have my burger now... I had steak Saturday.

By the way here is what it costs to join: Individual membership is available at $7,500 membership fee and $2,250 annual dues. Honestly, that isn't that impressive. Listening to people talk I would have thought it was like $20K to join and $10K a year. Yeah the one-time membership fee would hurt a bit but the annual fee.....Not bad at all. Think what you waste $2,500 on in a year (snacks, morning paper, groceries and impulse buys you don't need, etc...heck, most people could swing that by staying in a value resort instead of a moderate.) Most of us could easily come up with 2.5K per year if our priority was to be a member of "33", especially if we were local like most Disneyland guests are and not have to pay for hotels, flights/rental cars/food etc for our vacations. Take all of that out of the equation and I would easily be able to afford a "33: membership annually and would do it too, just to bring people like Jimmy down to earth.:sohappy:

Not bad at all eh? Now I do feel poor. By the way, the price difference between a value and moderate resort for a week is more in the range of $400-500 not $2500, and if $7500 seems reasonable for you to go somewhere I can't go I'm glad to be rid of you too (nothing personal, the whole thing just rubs me the wrong way). Also, i'm pretty sure locals do make up the majority of the visitors in DL, but they are far outweighed by out-of-towners in WDW.

My thoughts are that I used to think I was interested until you put it that way. I go to Disney to enjoy Disney with my family - not to get drunk. :hammer:
I went to Disney to get drunk :)

Then I moved away from Disney.

Now I go to Disney to have fun.

Then I leave Disney to get drunk.

Now, I merely get tipsy at Disney.

I would like to see something similar to a Club 33 at WDW, but obviously not exactly the same. I would probably never be able to afford it but it would be nice. If people have that type of money to spend more power to them.

So since I'm going to DL next month, will you get me into your exclusive club? :)

And we all pay to get into an exclusive club. It's called WDW. Some people can't afford to take their families to WDW although they may dream about it their entire lives. So consider yourself lucky that you can come, even if it's once every couple of years, and enjoy the magic.

It is right that some people eat steak and others hamburger...but...it is not right that some eat steak while others eat nothing. We don't all have to be equal but we should all have basics.

i think his whole reason for starting this was to brag that hes' a member.

"its a real nice bonus when I walk into that park and can enter a private club, where only the Disney elite are allowed to go.

And I can get completely hammered in luxury."

the last thing i want to deal with at DL is having to run into rich drunk a____________s who like getting hammered in luxury.

why dont you stay in california

I think most people should be eating Slim-Fast:)

And by the way, there is an ultra-exclusive club at WDW. I am a member, and it is soooo exclusive none of you peasants have heard of it or know where it is, only I and my ultra-exclusive bretheren do, and you need to know the ultra-secret handshake to get in.

Agreed.

For almost $10,000 the first year, and $2,250/year afterwards you get access to a "luxury" bar in the middle of disneyland and feel elite?

That $10,000 will cover the cost of my WDW vacation for the next 7-9 years at a DVC resort, and the annual fee will cover the following years.

Even if that amount of cash was pocket change, I still wouldn't join. I don't need to feel "elite" or better than my fellow WDW guests.
