I like the map. As I understand it, in this imagineering project, we are designing an entirely new park... is that correct? It would be helpful to have a scale indicator on the map, to provide a sense of the size of the buildings. For example is the castle 100 foot wide or 300 foot wide. Makes a difference on how we think about all of the attraction spaces.
Yes, you're right -- this is park of an entirely new Magic Kingdom style park.

And that's a great point to have the scale indicators on the map!

Actually on that note -- I'm curious to get another opinion on it -- maybe @Magic Feather could help in the realism department for the map?

Very nice.

Just curious, what is the flatride in the middle of the map with the red, green, and yellow colors?

I intended for the carousel to be in London, the one in the courtyard is based off the junkyard jamboree mechanism. I was thinking it'd be surrounded by flowerbeds. But it's mostly just an placeholder.

I should have specificified that the map isn't perfectly to scale. But in my head I'm imagining Tangled is around the same size as mermaid, and poppins around the same size as Haunted Mansion.

One day I'll get around to learning a digital method that can easily provide true scale. But for now my skills are what they are.

Also if it's not clear it's intended that the red courtyard is elevated a level from the rest of the land - partially because we had discussed a show building underneath and partially because I think it would provide a nice vista, and partially because it allows the train to go under instead of over that path while it's still climbing for the bridge immediately after.

That's a nice idea. I also like the London bridge as a transition piece.

Just to clarify, when you say London Bridge, which London Bridge are you talking about exactly? There've been so many different London Bridges over the years, and people from outside the UK have a tendency to refer to Tower Bridge as London Bridge as well! :p

This is the current London Bridge.

London_Bridge%2C_Lake_Havasu%2C_Arizona%2C_2003.jpg

The previous London Bridge, which is now in Arizona.

1280px-London-bridge-1682.jpg

And yet another London Bridge, on which many houses and shops were built.

I'd say something along the lines of the bridge now in Arizona would be the best fit myself.

I do love the map though, great work! Is it watercolour?

And @Imagineerland, I have to ask, how do you do your drawings? Are they very precise drawings or are they done in some sort of CAD program and then coloured? They're so precise, I'd love to be able to produce stuff like that. It could even be applicable to my course!

Well there's actually two London bridges that'd be needed so I'm going to pretend I knew that.

I was thinking tower bridge (the one that's in Peter Pan) by Peter Pan on the north side of Pinocchio. On the south side any of those above I'd be fine with though I lean towards the Arizona one as well. The old drawings remind me of the aqueduct structure I was thinking about for the entrance by dumbo though.

Yep I work a lot in watercolor. Slowly trying to learn more digital techniques and stuff. Definitely would love to be able to make maps like Imagineerland. I believe they use sketchup, at least as a base before prettying them up.

Have a lot of ideas that I've taken way too long thinking about :hilarious: I love to focus a lot of wording, and that's why I refrain from posting, as I'm afraid that if I don't use the right words, I won't paint the right picture. But since I really want to get back into a groove, I'm gonna just do bullets, and if you guys could just ask as many questions as possible if you like an idea or need me to clarify, that would mean the world!

  • Fantasia should be the castle, in my opinion, but the attraction inside would need to challenge the very term "attraction" as much as Fantasia challenged the term "animated feature." I'll elaborate if you guys like the idea.
  • @Brer Oswald You mentioned how you'd hate cutting Pooh from Fantasyland would be a sin, and I know that we as a group had no interest in doing so, but I think it could fit snug in an area around where @kap91 put Pinocchio and Beast. Call it our Forest area, where Pooh and Beast are the northern borders, Pinocchio is the western border, and Snow White is front and center.
  • I would love to have Mary Poppins be the theme of the carousel, or maybe not have a carousel... maybe have a new ride system? I have more ideas if you guys would be open for doing something like that! Would a solid C-Ticket do justice to the movie, and / or would having a traditional dark ride and a souped-up C-TIcket be overkill?
  • Does anyone have any interest in Frozen? I'm reluctant, as I have no nostalgia for it, but we could always have it be a simple flat ride, etc.
That's all I have right now, loving everything I'm seeing so far! :D

Maybe mix your fantasia idea with the Yen sid castle thing?

Hey! Don't worry -- post all you want! No idea is a bad idea :D

Especially not these. I have no qualms with including Pooh -- the only thing that was mentioned against it at first was it seemed like our Fantasyland was too expansive. But now that we've cut it down to a realistic size (give or take) I think it could find its place in the Fantasyland Forest.

And I don't know if you've seen @kap91 's Jolly Holiday ride -- I think we are going to include that for Mary Poppins!

Exactly!

So, I was thinking this: Mickey and Donald host a show held in a domed theater, with dense projections, creating 3D without the glasses. Picture the Pines of Rome from 2000, being marveled at by the first ever Mickey and Donald animatronic. Fill it the plot blanks, and then the ride system converts into a flume ride or something and such. No matter what, I want the show to transition into a ride. I'll cry until the Blue Sky turns grey to figure something out! The climax would be Sorcerer's Apprentice, and maybe the ride system could realign itself.

Thoughts?
