It would depend on what option we eventually choose.

Something like Option #3 -- the castle would be seen similar to a traditional Main Street
Main-Street-Magic-Kingdom.jpg

However something like Option #2 -- with tall trees around encapsulating the guests as the roam towards the hub -- it would be like the Oasis where the Castle (or Tree in that case) is hidden until the big reveal
OASIS..jpg

Thanks. I was thinking of an arched glass atrium with some hanging fauna over the main street leading into the gardens, but that probably wouldn't work.
something like this but not so jumbled.

here is a crude attempt to fuse options 2 and 3, keeping the Main Street shopping corridor (with Fantasia theme), and placing winding garden pathways on either side of it (great for congestion with parades!). Each route has a different style of reveal for the castle. Attractions can be placed in the garden areas at the end of the two corridor side streets. Backstage access to the shops and restaurants is underground below the garden paths. The town square past the station can surely be modified even further to work like The Oasis.

Random detail - the floral Mickey has his sorcerer hat.

Was thinking (maybe it's obvious) that each shop and restaurant along the corridor could use a different segment from Fantasia or from 2000 as its theme, while all keep a bit of the Roman garden look we've been creating. Fantasyland shops in the castle maybe lose their Fantasia tie-ins to do this, but there's plenty of other stuff they could retheme to.

@rawisericho -- welcome!

For this project -- we are designing a new Disney Resort in Sydney Australia. If you want to catch up with what we have for the project so far -- here's the link that outlines the whole project.

http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/club-32-sydney-disneyland-cumulative-draft.926539/

The current discussion is how to arrange our entrance to the park -- we have brainstormed several options thus far and if you'd like -- feel free to comment/discuss with us! We'd love to hear your opinions too!

Option #1

Early 1900s Australian town center (similar to what is seen in Saving Mr Banks) transitioning into Fantasia Gardens

Option #2

Purely Fantasia Gardens with winding paths, water, forests - similar to Disney Animal Kingdom's -- The Oasis

Option #3
Fantasia Gardens, in a traditional Main Street style.

Instead of themed around a turn of the century town -- the main street is designed after styles from Fantasia, leading to Fantasia Hub -- this is similar to the concept of Mickey Avenue...taking a Main Street design and turning it into something else.

Option #4
enterancesolution-png.202436

Double-Decker Main-Street.

1st floor - indoors, filled with shops
2nd floor - greenery, exploratory

Option #5 - Something Else!

Okay, so I would be partial to option one then. I like the idea of a main street in the castle parks and I like the idea of the town being themed specifically to the country's "yesteryear that never was" in the same way MK's is to our Never Was Middle America. I think that gives the park a very Australian feel.
For option 1 I think one idea we had was to theme it after the style seen in Saving Mr. Banks

If we make it unique enough from the Americana style Main Streets it could be something special!

For the people who like the 2nd and 3rd options -- I feel like there is still a way to hybridize them in some capacity -- I'm thinking with walking trails near and around the castle/hub themed to Fantasia Gardens

That is if we go with the 1st option.

Morning everyone!

So today -- the main goal for me will be talking about the entrance...as many opinions as possible would be great at this juncture.

Nothing is finalized yet but to catch everyone up on the last few pages -- some of the top suggestions have been.

This is what kind of bothers me about option #1 and #3- This Crowd Leaving

I think whatever we do should solve the "After fireworks rush to the Busses" - It's a 1971 problem that should be solved by now :hilarious:

As someone whose had to work with Disney Crowds from a Cast perspective..... If we design it with crowd control in mind, I feel like it'll be more of a benefit. - Easier the design, easier on the cast to direct people.... Happier Experience.

The Goal after the night show is to get out of the park... It's also the worst time to leave because of the "stampede"... So Why don't we fix that and make it a more positive experience? :D

Option #2

Purely Fantasia Gardens with winding paths, water, forests - similar to Disney Animal Kingdom's -- The Oasis

I like this if done correctly.

After Rivers, AK have several "Distractions" for guests to see.

Projection show, bands, etc.

And if we label the way out, close of "Discovery paths" during the post fireworks crowd.... with cast directing... It shouldn't be too bad.

Since I gave the idea, I'm a bit bias towards this :p

But for the reason of crowds, rain covering, a grand reveal of the castle on floor A, and the idea of an exploratory area on top of a straight shot in/out of the park.

This. Is. Amazing.

This is definitely my vote. It'd be really easy to get guests out this way.

I remember an idea for exterior (outside the park gates) shops as a segue into the actual park.

@rawisericho what do you think of having the old Sydney architecture leading into the park gates? And having the sydney style branch into a Downtown Disney type shopping/dining area?

Easily the worst part about main street. We always try and stay after so we aren't in that mess, but even if you leave an hour later it is still a cluster in and outside of the park. You almost need 2 main streets but then you wouldn't have the same affect. The only other option would be to have some form of transportation you could catch that didn't necessarily require you going out the same way as everyone else.

What about giving Main Street some alleyways that can lead out to the exit at night? We wouldn't have them as a way to enter as we'd want to direct guests down the center but they could be fully themed areas that we could use as tributaries to get guests out.

You're suggesting we have our Downtown Disney right outside the gates and the Sydney style be a buffer between that and the park?

PS: Sydney style architecture being like the Opera House and Sydney Skyline?

Yeah similar to Disneyland, DLP, and Shanghai -- have it be a buffer between the park and then transitioning into the shopping district (Sydney Springs?)

This way we have our traditional classic Main Street entrance -- transitioning into a newly designed Fantasia Gardens which helps alleviate the qualms of the typical one way street congestion seen before -- with side streets and alleys for traffic flow throughout!
